Thread: Stabby pains

So I've had AF type cramps in the evenings. But today for like an hour I had these intense stabby pains in my right side. They only lasted a few seconds, but it kept happening like every 10 minutes or so for a whole hour..

Anyone ever have anything like this? They kind of took my breath away. Is it just growing pains or should I see a doc? My first prenatal appt isn't until Sept. 21st. Feels like forever from now.

Totally had them. I had an ectopic my last pregnancy so I was FREAKED out when I felt those pains, I just knew it was another ectopic. (Although, when I DID have the ectopic, I never had any pains...?) Anyway, when I went to the doc I explained I had pains there, and sometimes they were really intense, but generally short lived... he said they're normal. Said it's the uterus stretching and I'll feel them for awhile..

I was worried it might be an ectopic. It seems like they should do a sonogram early for everyone just to make sure its not an ectopic. Bc aren't those dangerous? Why do they wait so long? Agh! I'm not having them anymore, so I'm going to try and relax and tell myself its my uterus growing. Thanks for calming my fears...I hope they do not return. I'd rather have morning sickness.

mmm.. morning sickness is great fun! I wouldn't be too worried about an ectopic if I were you. Like I said, I didn't have any pain with mine, I knew something was wrong because I was bleeding. Like.. not spotting, but bleeding. Yes, they are dangerous because if they aren't caught, your tube could rupture and ...that's bad. I was between 7 and 8 weeks when my mine got diagnosed (because the doc wouldn't listen to me when I told her something was wrong...oh, and it HURT SO BAD when me and DH had sex).. but my tube didn't rupture.
But yeah, I'm thinking it's normal. No worries! (Plus, I'm three weeks ahead of you, when I just gotten preg, I thought AF was coming any day with all the crampiness I was feeling)

Yes, I have had those two. Not sure exactly what they are, but I remember thinking "please don't let this be an ectopic..."

i get those too. i think it is just the baby growing and stretching our uterus

I'm glad you asked about it.. I'm getting those pains too. I got a little worried last night because it went on for a while. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

Yeah I'm def. getting the AF type cramps and just today like a pinching sensation, yesterday i got a little pain on my right side as well.
