Three week weight check

So Judah had been losing weight. He was 8lbs 4oz at birth and 7lbs 11oz at discharge. Then at two weeks he was 7lbs 8oz. Then I started supplementing and took him back this week and he's up to 8lbs!!! Yay! Sooo glad he is gaining now. One interesting thing about him is his sleep schedule. He went almost 9 hours between feeds tonight! He ate at 830, finally went to sleep at 11pm and didnt wake up until 530! He did drink almost 5 oz before bed. He usually does at least a 4-6 hour stretch. I guess as long as he's gaining right? I really can't complain!

Wow, that's a long stretch! I probably would have wasted it by waking up to check on him every 2 hours, lol. That's great that he's gaining. What's the way forward? Keep supplementing like you've been? How long is it supposed to take for the medicine to start working on your supply?

Yay for weight gain and a 9 hour stretch of sleep! That's awesome! Go Judah!

Haha Joan about wasting that time by waking him up, I can totally see myself being the same way. My friend has advised me to not do that if he gains weight well. She did it with her first and her first is an awful sleeper and she didn't do it with her second and her second is an awesome sleeper.

Well technically he slept from 11-530 but 6.5 hours is great! I spent from 830-11 trying to get him to sleep lol.
He's been doing these stretches a lot. The first few times I would wake up right around the four hour mark but now I just sleep right through!
So far, I've definitely noticed a difference in my milk - it actually leaks out now which it hadn't been doing, and last night after all those hours of not nursing, I actually felt full! I know it can take up to two weeks for the medication to fully kick in so I expect to just be able to gradually cut down on the supplementing. Right now I'm doing about 5-10 oz of supplement a day and keeping track so hopefully it will go down over time.
I'm not sure when I started the meds with Noel, but I do know I never supplemented after she turned 6 weeks.
