I can't believe my little man is 12 days old already! Updates on us.. He was born at 6lb 12 oz and dipped to 6lb 2oz. His billy level was pretty high at birth but at 1 weeks old, his risk level shifted down to the 75th percentile. I'm trying to feed him like crazy to get it out - we'll know how well it's working when we go back on Wednesday for another jaundice follow up. He's looking better, I think!
Nursing like a little champ - I'm concerned about my milk supply being enough, though. He's gone to eating every 30-60 minutes where as just a week ago was going 3-4 hours in between feedings. I was able for him to eat AND pump for storage but now I'm scared he's not eating enough. I'll mention it to the doc on Wed.
His cord and circumcision thingy fell off within a day of each other so he's been given full on baths already! Which is a good thing cuz he's a little pooping machine!! Sometimes only a bath will get this stuff off lol.. Thank goodness, he's pretty ok with the bath thing. Although when it comes to washing his hair, he's in love with the water fall from my bath faucet.
Here's some pics from the past week or so..
Peeing on daddy - hahahaha! I warned him to get a diaper on but he didn't wanna listen to me.
He's so adorable! I can't believe his cord stump fell off already. Emma's seems to be on for the long haul. As for the nursing, I wonder if he's just having trouble sleeping and wants to nurse when he wakes up.
Aww so cute! Julie didn't have jaundice - and when I took her for her first appt, the pedi said she looked excellent and didn't even take her levels. Her stump fell off today ALTHOUGH it was already really loose and I set her in her bouncy seat for a whole five minutes and she started to SCREAM and wave her arms around so she might have knocked it off.. Oopsie!
However, I agree, I can't believe time is going by this fast.
He is just too cute!!!!!!!
Kylie had a level of 6.7 at birth for jaundice and then 24 hours later was at an 8. She was born on Monday and we had her first pedi appt on Friday and he sent us for a recheck. Got the results on Saturday and they said everything was just fine, although they didn't tell us what the actual number was.
awww what a sweet little man.. Just a tip with the supply thing Sadie is doing this same thing too with her wanting to eat alot, i was having weight issues with her too, she was 7 lbs 4 ounces at birth and by our release she had dropped to 6 lbs 8 oz, so we have had 3 weight checks, which she wasn't really gaining much but im happy to say she is at 7 lbs even today . Dr is not really worried about her anymore finally.. When i came home i wasn't eating well cause i wasn't feeling well, but i try to go with her schedule and make myself a light snack every couple hrs or so, iv'e also been eating oatmeal for breakfast and really focusing on drinking plenty of water to help keep my supply up while its still being established Hope these things iv'e done can help you too.
Yeah I'd say just get his weight checked and see if he's gaining; if he is, you should be good!
Ugg, I hate the cord stump. Judah's is still on there; it's *almost* off but I know I can't pull it off. Cleaning it makes me want to gag though.
I think our boys look similar to each other! Maybe they are twins separated at birth.
Bram was 8.0 when checked at the hospital and 15.5 when checked 6 days later at the home health appt. He was 15.2 the next day at the Dr. office (one week appt). I'm quite sure he has gone down more so I'm hoping we'll be in the clear with it all at tomorrow's appt.
Bram was 6.12 on birth day - 6.2 one week later and according to my home scale, he's 6.4 today (almost 2 weeks old). I hope it's wrong and he's more than that - the Dr won't be happy with only a 2 oz gain in one week. I'm just not ready to supplement with formula yet.
