So today my bosses gave me a hefty raise. The moment they told me, I blurted out "I'm pregnant." Not exactly how I wanted that to go down.
I told her (one of my bosses) that I couldn't accept the raise until she knew about my pregnancy. I know they will have to hire someone while I'm out on maternity leave. She was happy for me (she was never able to have children, she was pregnant once and miscarried). However she did have a concerned look on her face like "crap why did I just offer her a raise."
Anyway, I feel better that they know and I don't have to hide why I feel like crap everyday, but I hope they still give me a raise.
I'm too nice. I should have waited until the raise went through and then told them. I'm just too nice. Id feel like I was taking advantage of them and leaving them high and dry for 12 weeks. Am I crazy? DH thinks I am.
They didn't tell me how much though. They said it would be "significant." I hope it stays significant. I work for a 4 person firm (2 of those people are the owners) so do those laws really apply? I know that if its under 50 employees they don't even have to offer me maternity leave.
How honorable!!LOL! I mean they better give you a raise now because that would be just wrong! I'm sure it feels better though now that they know!
