We arrived at the hospital at 5:30am April 8th and they got me back and hooked up to the monitors. The whole time I was contracting so had I not had the c-section my dr thought I would have went into labor that day. The was a little hard hearing because ive always dreamed of a natural birth and knowing it would have only been hours away was sad, but I was excited none the less and ready to meet my lil man. They finally took me back to the OR at 7:30am and began prepping for the surgery. This is where everything went down hill! The anestheologist couldnt get the spinal in. He had to keep numbing me up and stabbed me in the back close to 15 times before getting the head guy to do it. It took them 45 minutes to do this. At this point I was already frustrated and just miserable. So they get me laid out and I just didnt feel right. Turns out the spinal had went a little further up than it was supposed to and it was causing my heart rate to bottom out. They had to keep pumping me with Phenylephrine to keep bringing my heart rate back up which then made it feel like it was going to burst out of my chest. Finally they got to baby and it took them about 10 minutes of tugging and pulling to get him out because he was bigger than they expected and was stuck in there. When they finally got him out all I heard was the nurse yell "Im coding him!!" and looked over to see my baby laying on the table purple and not moving. It was the scariest moment in my life! I thought we lost him and completely lost it. My poor husband had to leave because it was all too much for him and he nearly passed out. He finally started screaming and we later found out he had technically died but came back. He had his cord wrapped around his neck and it was choking him while they were trying to get him out. He also had meconium in his fluid but luckily hadnt swallowed any! I am so thankful that everything ended up ok and he is a healthy and happy lil guy. We came home yesterday and hes been such a joy and blessing! This has definately been an experience for us.
Sooooo scary! Im sorry you had to go through that. I'm sure you were completely freaked out. On the other hand, what a cute little man you have there! Love his chubby cheeks!!!
