Went into work today

Did a 4 hr day today to try and ease myself back into it. Emma stayed home with daddy and they had a good day. I was surprised to pump more than she ate at home! I'm nursing her now. Overall, it was a very successful day.

Eeek - I can't even think about going to work. It's funny - I haven't even really *thought* of work even though I've been off a month. OMG a month! Where has the time gone?

Anyway, congrats on having a good day!

Glad your day went well. I've been watching grades from afar and dread my time back when parents will be on my case!

Man you are back at work already? That stinks. Well at least it was successful and you got a lot from pumping. I think I will take an "ease into it" approach when I go back. I will probably work a 20 hour week the week before I start back full time. I visited my office today to show off the baby and I was so happy that I felt no sense of needing to be there. Whew! Going to enjoy these 12 weeks off!

It is soon, but it makes sense for us. DH is a full time student right now meaning my income is primary. I don't get paid for my maternity leave and DH has a break from school at the moment. I'd love to be home with her, but DH is available to stay with her so it makes more sense for me to start earning income again.

Joan it is so hard when we have to make tough decisions. I am in the same boat because I could go til sept but go unpaid for the 20 days in June and that just doesn't work for us. So many people at work say "oh I would go unpaid" that's great but not for everyone!

I'm ok with it. It's hard not to be home with her, but she's home with Daddy so I really have no rational reason to stay home. He's fulfilling the needs of taking care of our baby, so I really need to fulfill our need for income. It'll be harder once August hits and we have to send her to daycare. That's going to kill me. I was able to go back part time after DS and go a whole year with no daycare and that was wonderful, but unfortunately that's not going to work for us this time. I do love my job though, so at least I'm not sitting her completely miserable.
