What to do with it? (slightly OT)

So I have this issue and thought I'd post here since it has a *little* to do with the baby.
When I had my son, my parents gave me this really pretty bentwood rocking chair that my mom used in my nursery. I used it with both of my children. However, awhile back I got a glider rocker and put it in the living room. Recently I got another chair to replace it because the kids are always rocking it against the window pane and it drives me nuts. So anyway, this glider is not sentimental at all, but it's much better for the nursery than the rocking chair because it doesn't slam into the wall and make marks on it and it's more kid-friendly. Plus, it matches the decor better.
So my question is: what do I do with the rocking chair? I don't want to just give it away but I don't really have room for it. Should I give it back to my parents and if so, what should I tell them about giving it back? I guess I could just tell them there's no room for it right now but maybe if we get a bigger house we can take it?? I dunno... thoughts?

Yes, if you don't have room for it now, I would at least offer it back to your parents and tell them that you love it but you just don't have room for it right now. Do you have any siblings that have small children right now? Maybe they could use it in the interim that way it could stay in the family?

Hmm.. I know when I get something back that I've given to someone, my feelings get a little hurt. But if you tell them you want it back when you get a bigger house and that you really don't want to part with it, maybe that'll help. Do they have room for it?

Nope, I'm an only child. Good thought though! I might just not go into detail and tell them I don't have room for it right now.

Jessica - Yep, they have quite a bit more space than we have.

:lurk:

It may not work depending on the style of rocker, but my mom went through the same situation as you. My grandparents (her in-laws), gave her a rocker when I was born, and when the time came that we just didn't have space for it, she had it disassembled and packed flat to store until she had a place to put it. You mentioned that it no longer suits your decor either, and once the chair was disassembled, she had the wood refinished and the cushions reupholstered which really updated the look of it and it better suited her tastes.

Hopefully you can sort it out!
