What's on the agenda this week? Chat thread.

Hey ladies, its been a bit slow, so I thought I'd start a chat thread so we can talk about whatever. So what are you up to this week? How was your weekend?

AFM-I've got a busy week at work until Thursday. I'm not dealing with this time change very well. I also have to somehow find the time to get an oil change and go to the chiro. The chiro wants to see me 3x per week still, but she is only open during work hours and my bosses are starting to get pissed that I leave so often with that and my midwife appointments, so I'm just going to have to tell her I can't come that often.

I had a good productive weekend of cleaning, studying and relaxing. Our wireless router went down this weekend and we dont get a new one until thursday, so it helped me to not geek and watch tv. I also visited a friend that had a baby 3 weeks ago. That was intense. I got a bit scared. He was screaming his head off the whole time. I dont know what Im in for...haha. She looked great though and baby is doing good. I also went with another friend to a cloth diaper store and learned a LOT. Makes me want to try to do it full time. But we will just have to see with daycare and all. I also went to a BBQ with my college friends. I got to see lots of old friends. My ex-coworker/friend was there and she is pregnant again and just found out its a boy. Lots of boys lately. Exciting that Henry will have so many friends close in age!

I am hoping for a nice easy and slow week! I have to write a paper for my grad class and work on a slideshow for our basketball banquet but my afternoons are free with no more basketball which is nice. I have al ight week teaching wise this week and my classes are doing a computer activity and watching a movie this week so it should give me a lot of down time in the classroom which is also nice! I relaxed a lot this weekend and actually feel energized which hopefully is a sign I can get through the next 3 weeks and not go early Smile

I am packing up and moving to the city to await baby. I am heading into my office in a few minutes to finalize stuff there (I will be working while I am in the city, but I have stuff to clean up in my office here).

I think once I am in Anchorage and the last of my work duties transferred, I will relax. This baby has to wait at least one more week!!

Elizabeth, your boss sounds like a real a-hole. Who gets mad at a pregnant lady for missing work for necessary appts? When are you supposed to go to these when they have you working crazy hours?? I bet you're sooo looking forward to some solid weeks off of that place. It really makes me grateful for my accomadating work place.

Aimee, I'm glad things have calmed down for you with basketball being over and what not. Hopefully the last few weeks of your pregnancy are nice and relaxing.

AFM, we had a nice weekend. DS get over being sick and we went to a family fun center yesterday. That was fun, but exhausting for me because I do so much following him around and standing. We got some of the baby stuff set up though, the pack and play and swing. Just kinda setting stuff up as we clean it. We're taking DS to a sibling class at the hospital on Saturday too, pretty excited about that!

This made me snicker a little. Lol But she's right.. well ok maybe not as far as the ahole part but kinda sorta.. you gotta do what you gotta do. A couple weeks ago when I was admitted and I told my mom I really didn't have time to be sitting in a hospital bed, waiting on a strip to tell them everything was fine.. she said to me either I give a little time to maintenance on my body so I can keep working.. or max myself out and be out early where NO work gets done! If you gotta go to the Chiro appt, try to get at least twice a week. Your body will thank you for it!!

About moi - I'm pissy and moody and and and.. I did way too much this weekend and I think I'm paying for it.. I hurt. I feel like this little guy is crawling out of me as we speak.. it feels so "full" between my legs when I walk.. like I'm walking around something sticking out.. TMI, I know.

This past weekend I did some letter shopping at the Hobby Lobby for his name.. but I didn't like how they turned out so I'll be looking on Amazon for already painted letters.

Got the stroller put together and car seat installed..

Other than had lunch and ran errands with my mom on Saturday, that's about it.

I know poor DD is DYING with being so bored. I really can't do much and DH had to work this weekend.. she was sooo bored. Sad

Elizabeth - I agree with everyone about your boss. My boss is super great and I feel awful when I need to leave early to get to appts but he said it is the best of both worlds because me doing my duties for half or most of the day is better than them going undone. It is crazy how some people don't understand what it takes to carry the baby and makse sure it is all good!

Cristan - it is crazy that you have to go and leave and wait for the baby... I am glad it is the option though so you can be safe and prepared.

joan - I went ot a place like that a few weeks ago and luckily my daughter did not go too far since it was a PACKED day and she was a bit overwhelmed. There was a chair next to the one place she wanted to stay so I thought that was good.

Adriana- You got a TON done!!! no wonder your body is barking at you today lol. I actually said to DH last night we got a lot done with very little strain so I feel good about that. I also said to him that I can't wait to do some things with my daughter once this is over because I feel awful that she is just stuck running aroudn with us or not getting any 3 year old time. Her parties she has coming up should help and my MIL and one of DH's aunts are taking her to see Rapunzel at a local children's theater so I know that she will have some her time.... OH and I agree more than ever about the crawling out of me.. right now she is moving and it is no longer cute but PAINFUL!!!

AFM... this day is dragging but going fast.. not sure if that makes sense... My mondays always kind of stink because it is my "lecture" day so I am on my feet more and stuff... I so did not get nearly what I wanted to done today but tomorrow I have a lot of time while my class is in the computer lab to work on my paper and stuff.

Elizabeth - I agree with everyone else, that sucks that your boss doesn't "get" all of the stuff that goes into pregnancy. That's really hard. I hope they aren't giving you too hard of a time.

Adriana - I agree with Aimee - no wonder you're feeling cranky! You did a ton this weekend. Haha, remember a week or so ago when I had my total meltdown....the day AFTER we had worked our butts off getting the nursery ready and everything? It's no coincidence, I think. You're just handling it better than I did. Lol

Cristan - I think that's so interesting about how ladies in AK have to go stay in special areas to deliver safely (because your home towns are too far away from the hospital, right?) I have another friend on PO from AK, and she had to do the same thing. Do they have special programs (like, hotels set up near the hospitals just for that reason) since it sounds kind of common there?

Joan - Oh, that sounds very fun for your DS, but EXHAUSTING for you. I wanted to take T to do something special this weekend, and I considered something like that but thought that I would just be too tired after being on my feet all day, so we went to the movies instead. I bet your DS had a wonderful time though!

Aimee - Yay for having an easier day tomorrow! I hope that you get to sit down and rest soon today.

AFM - This is my last week of work, so I have a ton that I have to do to get everyone ready before I go. Oh my gosh, I can't WAIT to be out of work for months at a time. :biglove: LOL I like my job, but I'm still ready to stay home and just get ready for/have/take care of my little sweetheart for a while.

My weekend - well, Friday DH got home and we went to PetSmart to get some more fish. They're doing good, the water is testing good, but one specific species has a dead one in there about once a week. The ONLY reason I noticed this last one is because there was something in the tank and DH was like...looks like the remains of a fish. (It did, honestly, but I think(hope) it was just poo and ...whatever, stuck together)...when I was glaring at it, I noticed a dead fish. *sigh* I HATE when animals die. I know they're "just fish" but..I'm like, hello!! Why can't I keep the freakin fish alive? We've been to a place like an hour away twice to ask for expert advice. They don't have any for us since our water is good, food is good, temp is good, everything is good...they said it might be just ...bad fish we're getting. Anyway, then Saturday I worked for a little bit then went over to the MIL's for dinner and got to see all the IL's. It was good seeing (some) of them, but we didn't stay long. I went couponing and DH went to the auto parts store. Sunday, DH was working on a friends (of mine) car, then he decided he wanted to go fishing....so we went fishing for a few hours and then came home and resumed work on the car. He got it mostly done. We're saving my friend a lot of money and the shop wouldn't have even started on it until today or tomorrow. DH says he'll finish it when he gets home today.
Wednesday I'm going to go see my mom. I got a little (okay a lot) frustrated today because the roof people called and wanted to come out Wednesday and I told them no..and they acted like they HAD to come out Wednesday. I'm like it's been a month and a half with the roof like that, you've been extra slow about getting crap repaired (like my heat) and all the sudden there's a super rush on it?? Uh, no.
Tomorrow, I have a doc appt and then I'm going to get my car inspected...and hopefully try to figure out how to mount my front license plate ...since there's no holes for it. No, I didn't get a new car.. but my Mustang has been registered in Carolina for it's whole life and I finally registered it here.
So - Tues doc appt and state inspection (and work) Wednesday going to my moms, Thursday coming home, Friday roofers are coming (and I work) and Saturday I work. That's about it in a nutshell.

I'm freakin tired. Nap time!

I think i'm exhausted reading all of your posts. lol

AFM, Friday I was with my mom and dad all day shopping and doing laundry. So I paid for that all weekend long being sore and with swollen feet.
Today the hubby and I went to the party store and walmart to pick up a few things for the shower favors this weekend.
Tomorrow morning, we will be at the unemployment office for a 9am meeting because they are switching me to extended benefits and I have to go in in person to turn in a bunch of paperwork...tried to go last week but was told I was a week early...really? The letter I was sent said to go in BEFORE March 20th...so we went Friday and somehow were a week early. I don't get it...lol. Try to do something on time and early to make sure it's done and taken care of the correct way and it's still wrong...I give up! Smile
Thursday I have my 35 week dr appt with the lovely GBS swab and then Friday we will be grocery shopping again(I hate grocery shopping) then Sunday is my shower. So nothing too exhausting, just seems like a lot going on. Oh and one day this week, I'll need to get back to my mom and dads to get some more laundry done...I hate doing laundry too...lol!

Jill - I was on unemployment a few years back and they are SO picky about the dates. You can't turn in a slip even one day early. Some of you ladies sound soooo busy, I'd be dying.

Jessica - I can't believe the roofing guys were such a pain about Wed. How hard is it to understand, "I can't do Wed?"

AFM - I have my 36 week appt today. GBP swab. FUN!!

Joan-Good luck with the gbs swab and the sibling class.

Jill-Sorry you are dealing with all that unemployment paper work. I hear being unemployed is a job in itself because of all the paperwork.

Jessica-Sorry about your fish, that would make me sad too. I get emotional when my plants die. Have fun at your mom's though, hope the roofer reschedules.

Alissa-Wow how awesome that its your last week of work. Im so jealous!!

Aimee-Hope you have a nice easy week. Only a couple more weeks until your LO is here!

Adriana-I have been looking for some already painted letters too. Part of me wants to paint them myself, but Ive got too many projects started that I need to finish. Sounds like you had a productive weekend though!

AFM-Ive been up since 3:30am. Couldn't sleep so I just decided to go ahead and start my day @ 5am. I worked 13 hours yesterday, so today is going to feel long. I have to skip my lunch hour for a client meeting, so I'm hoping to leave early at least by 5pm. I'm ready for things to calm the eff down. If I go past my due date I might take some days off before the baby comes. I don't think I could handle this intensity of work at 40+ weeks. Oh and it would be nice if winter could just end already. I can no longer wear socks or boots. Yesterday it was in the 30's. The whole reason I moved back to Texas is because its usually warm by March. Boo. On a more intereting note...I meet my doula this weekend. We have only spoken on the phone and by email so far.

Oh fun!! I toyed with hiring one, but decided against it ... just didn't think it was for me. I do believe in their benefits though, and I'm really interested to hear how your experience goes! I hope she takes great care of you.

Heading out in a few minutes to Anchorage. I think I have everything packed. whew!

I have my NST and BPP and then OB appointment this morning. It will be interesting. I am still coughing (been a month now) and saw my regular doc yesterday. He thinks I may have pertussis, which would really be a bad thing if I went into labor this week. SO please send me NO LABOR vibes! I started antibiotics for it yesterday and I am at risk of passing it on for 5 days. Pertussis in a newborn would be very bad. We did cultures and will know in a few days if I am positive or not. If I am and keep junior baking for a week or so, then he will have some awesome immunity to it!

Also, my doc said my GBS came back positive. Just what I needed. I swear anything that could be out of sorts is out of sorts with me this pregnancy! Smile It will be interesting to see what the OB says today. I am allergic to the 2 most common antibiotics given for prevention. argh.

Cristan - What a mess!! I'm grateful for being part time military sometimes because they vaccinated me against pertussis. Hubby still needs to get it though!! Ugh ... and Group B Step?? I'm so sorry.

Elizabeth I have had the same issue the last two nights. one night i was up from 12-2 for no reason and then last night I fell asleep super early but was up from 9:30-11. i had nothing on my mind (i was singing Doc McStufins one night thanks to my DS)... Iti s the worst and makes for a LONG day.

Cristan: that is horribe that you have all this going on... try to stay positive and maybe it will work itself all out.

AFM: I am so sore and exhausted. I want ot make it to my date so badly and it is all I think about. I can't stand it at all. I am trying to wrap everything up each day before I leave here and not leave anything hanging over like correcting and stuff because I am so worried. Hopefully it is all just mental with me. With my DS I realized that I had 10 days off before my c-section because it was our April vacation week... but this time I am going on the same gestation day but working up until the day before blah! Oh and this paper and slideshow have not moved forward really... got a little done today and then we had a lockdown drill and I got sidelined.

WOW!!!! Everybody sounds so busy and it's getting to the countdown before some of us give birth to some beautiful wonderful little babies. I hope everyone is staying healthy and positive, i know i am trying. AFM This past Saturday my hubby and I went to tour the hospital and go through a childbirth class. It was super awesome and it made me feel a lot more comforting but I still am stressing a lot. Trying not to but it's really hard. This week I will be relaxing and hopefully some nesting. And I have my other baby shower this weekend! So i am excited! Not much longer. I am 34 weeks today! YAY!!! Smile

So.. my brother is on the way to Conn. (really really long story). He called me this morning at THREE AM - left a voicemail. I was asleep on the couch (sometimes I can't get comfy in bed) and I struggled with answering it, because...I mean, it's 3..he might be in trouble. So I listened to the voicemail. He was calling to tell me he loves me and he's gonna miss me. *eyeroll* Right. That's why you live two streets away and I haven't seen you in three months. I texted him that it was sweet, but totally could have waited until 5AM, when I would be at work.. Then I couldn't go back to sleep. So I got up and went on in to work. I'm supposed to be there at 4AM anyway, but there's no POINT for me to be there that early so usually it doesn't happen.

Worked. Went to my doc appt. I am positive for GBS. Every question I asked her about water breaking and/or labor starting she just kept saying, "Oh you'll know". I got up from the couch yesterday and there was this...wet stain right where I was sitting. I know it's from me, but I didn't feel it coming out. Apparently if my water breaks I'll feel it coming out. I'm getting my car inspected in about an hour and then I'll probably come home and sleep. Or I might do that now...lol

Jessica I keep getting the same answers when I ask about this stuff. My DS was so much easier but I think the 10 days being off before helped with that. TMI but my discharge has been a lot the last couple days and I keep wondering if it means anything but I am sure it doesn't lol...

From what I hear the positive on GBS is pretty simple to make it through. 3 of the girls preggo when I was with DS had it and it was no big deal but I guess I am lucky it doesn't matter with the c-section.

AFM - well I got one section of my paper done... these are just drafts so I left it pretty messy so I had stuff to tweak for the final draft. I now need to do the lit review which he said I can use part of from another class so that shouldn't take me long either! Leaving work in a few and have everything set in case it is the last day lol... Kind of stressful not knowing. I have an annoying parent meeting tomorrow morning that is one that we keep passing out the same crap and hear from mom that she is going to fix stuff but nothing gets done and I just get so mad wasting my time away from a class to deal with it... I have no problem if something changes but to take me away from 19 other students annoys me. Ok time to pack up and waddle to my car!

I keep asking my midwife those questions too about how I will know I'm in labor and when to call and when to head to the hospital and she keeps telling me they will give me that info at 36 weeks. I dont see the harm in knowing now.

Cristan and Jessica sorry about the GBS. I really don't want it because I want to labor at home and I think if you test positive they make you come to the hospital earlier to start the IV antibiotics.

Cristan, I'm sorry about the pertussis. This is whooping cough right? That stinks. My midwife just offered me the DTAP vaccine, but I wanted to wait until after the baby comes. I just got one last year anyway when I went to Thailand. Hopefully they can control it with antibiotics and you will be all healed before the baby comes.

Katie-Did you enjoy the hospital tour? How many childbirth classes do you have? Thats exciting about your shower! You should share pics afterwards. Im having another shower with friends in a couple of weeks. Im excited too!

Eliann- I did enjoy the hospital tour a whole bunch. The maternity ward is very nice and the nurses and doctors were friendly. Kinda gave me a wake up call as I walked into the delivery room, making the arrival of my LO more real. I am really excited though. The childbirth class that me and the hubby took was pretty long but very informative. Our teacher was friendly and answered my thousands of questions. lol We watched like five different stories of different kinds of childbirth and it was interesting. I have a lot to fix on my birth plan though. My main idea is that I want to have the baby vaginally and I will do whatever I must to make that happen if that means no meds , then no meds. So for now I will just pray that I will be able to have this baby vaginally , the way I want. lol
And as for my shower, I will definitely take pics and also when I finish the nursery which is almost done. Now all I have to do is figure out how to post pictures for all of you to see them. I hope your shower goes well too. I know you must be excited Smile
