Whats going on this week?

I know we are all getting closer and closer and more uncomfy by the day. What are you doing to take your mind off the fact you're very pregnant?

Haha that seems impossible this week!!! Just making it day by day... 2.5 days of work left!!! When she moves now the pain is ridiculous. There is just no more room for her tumbling

Well today is my birthday, I plan to sit here and relax. Im exhausted from the weekend. I need to buy my SIL a baby gift and birthday gift this week.

Oooh that reminds me of a question....do you always buy off people's registries? I typically do, BUT...my SIL let my brother do their registry and there isnt much on there and what is on there is not very good stuff. They are not into this whole obsessing over baby stuff like I am. I read reviews and carefully select my items. They have no swaddlers, pumping/fedding stuff (and I know she wants to BF), no baby care items (clippers, thermometer, nose aspirator). i was thinking I could help my bro out and get some of this stuff...or is that rude to assume what they need.

Sorry about the tangent.

Im meeting 2 friends tomorrow for lunch! Its nice bc I rarely get lunch breaks at work. AND...I found out that I have good friday off! Sweet! Not sure what I will do that day.

I'm pretty much in constant pain now. Feels exactly like a period coming on - full force. I'm still going though... going to work, etc. Boss man wants to know when I'm leaving, but.. I dunno when I'm leaving...and I know it's making him antsy LOL The rest of this week - tomorrow I work and Wednesday I have a doc appt at 11. Thurs Fri and Sat I work. I know - I lead a really active life LOL

Elizabeth - I've never had an issue buying stuff that's not on the registry. I mean, when I had MY shower, I definitely got stuff not on my registry and you never know - they may just be a little lost on what to actually ask for, so if you gave them something different it might be appreciated even more than something on their registry.

You know Jessica, that period like cramps are a sign of early labor. Not trying to get your hopes up, but Im hoping that it turns into something more soon. Hopefully they give you some good news on Wednesday.

My next appointment is friday. I get my first cervical check then...if I want it. I think I will go ahead and let them.

I'm in the same boat today that every time she moves it just hurts it seems.
Took my truck in today for an oil change and went grocery shopping. Was actually pretty excited about the whole oil change. There is a certain dealership my dad uses and the company he works for goes to the same place(for servicing and buying all the company trucks), so that's where I took our truck. They only charged me $24.95 for a full synthetic. I was expecting at least $50.
Tomorrow there are a few phone calls to make. Wednesday, our 6 year old has an eye dr appt. Thursday is my 37 week appt and DH starts back to school(he will be going every Thursday from 5-10 for class) for the next 8 weeks(they do 8 week sessions then two weeks off and so on) so today started this new session of classes. Friday and Saturday seem like pretty open easy days, so i'm sure one of those days i'll end up at my parents doing laundry. Then Sunday we will go to my parents for Easter dinner. Thats about it.

Oh and Elizabeth, have you asked them if there are things they already have and maybe thats why they didn't register for some stuff? You could always use the excuse that you have a few ideas but they aren't on the registry and you wanted to make sure they didn't have some things before buying them?

I've asked him, they have nothing. And when they talk about baby stuff they are always like, huh whats that? They think I'm a nut. When I asked her if they were going to do childbirth classes, she said "why the baby is going to come out either way." I love her, she is funny and sweet, we just approach things differently. I'm a planner, they are not. They got married in Vegas with 1 month of notice. We planned our wedding over 9 months.

Whoohoo about the oil change. I did that last week. Great mechanics are hard to come by, glad you got a good one. What does your DH study?

I think I'm the weird one out here in that I am not too bothered by how pregnant I am-I am more panicking at my to-do list at work before I go on leave which pretty much keeps me from dwelling on how preggo I am feeling. I am physically uncomfortable, but I want to stay pregnant long enough to feel ok about leaving my job for 12 weeks-I'm having a hard time letting go, haha!

Elizabeth, I don't think it would be rude to pick out things that you think they would need but aren't on their registry. If you include gift receipts, they can always exchange them if they decide they don't want them after all, but pumping/feeding stuff and baby care items would all be great gifts IMO.

Jessica, my labor with my first started with period like cramps as well-even though it seems like things are moving slow, its definitely a sign that your body is totally gearing up. Hopefully it won't be much longer at all for you!

Rebecca, I'm like you. I'm in no particular rush to get this baby out. I've got way too much to do at work and even for the baby. I even rescheduled my arch exam for April 13th. Yikes!!

TMI alert...I was feeling fabulously until Saturday when I got hemorroids the size of Texas. I'm so uncomfy, but pushing a baby out doesn't sound appealing right now.

When registries are a little less I tend to get a basket of all those little things you talk about. I swear I spend way more that way in the end but I know it is practical. Kind of like a diaper cake but all needed things that you know will get used

Elizabeth, I actually love it when people get me useful stuff I didn't think to ask for. I think it's a great idea to get them the stuff that's not on their registry that you know they'll need.

I'm on my last week of work here, so I'm just trying to wrap things up here. I'm so sore and tired all of the sudden, like I hit a brick wall at 38 weeks. It's really hard for me to stand or be active for more then 30-40 minutes at a time. It's making time go by pretty slowly. Next week is DSs spring break, so hopefully we have fun together before the baby comes.

I am in the same boat Joan... My classroom is really far from everything... like my daughters daycare is prob 1/4 mile away from my room and walking her there in the morning is torture lol... but if I park closer to there then I have to walk in the afternoon so I can't win! I try to avoid too much walking since I want to keep her baking until Friday but even getting to the caf for lunch is far!

I am here another day though so that is exciting!!! I need to get through tomorrow because my OB is in court tomorrow dealing with divorce issues so it is the only day he can't deliver me this week... so I just keep telling her to bake bake bake!!!

I've heard differing stories on the period-like cramps. I've heard people have them in early labor and other people have them weeks before labor. But I really really really hope it's doing SOMETHING. I laid on the couch last night and cried because it hurt so bad. Nothing timeable though - just a lot of pain. And my lower back was KILLING me. I know some people have back labor and that doesn't sound fun... but again, some people say it's timeable and some people say it's constant pain. Either way, I fell asleep (finally) and woke up fine this morning. About 30 minutes after getting to work (and walking around) I started having the period-like cramps again. But they kind of petered out over the day.

I used to hate taking my car to get an oil change - I'm glad DH is a mechanic and does it himself now. I seriously NEVER remember to do stuff like that, so it's good he does.

I would say if they don't have a lot on their registry, get them something you know they'll need - like swaddling blankets or a health kit or whatever. With baby #3, I prefer people to buy from my registry (most people didn't at my shower) but w/ a first baby it's a little different because they need everything.

Ongoing project this week for us is the kids' bedroom. I painted last week and we are working on getting the bed set up so we can set up the rest of the room. I'm a little antsy waiting for it to get done. Last night DH and I set up the bed but the top railings need additional screws that didn't come w/ it and we are revamping the ladder so that it attaches to the side instead of leaning over and taking up lots of space so we have to get hardware for that too. Anyway, so *hopefully* it will get done tonight and THEN I can work on the rest of the room and THEN the nursery.

I had a freak out moment last night - I thought I was going into labor. It was the same as with Noel - I couldnt' sleep, she was having these violent hiccups and being really active - same thing last night. And my stomach was all growly and stuff. It was a bit scary. And we're going out of town Fri-Sat this weekend so when I told DH about last night he was like "You need to have your bag packed so we can take it with us just in case." And I am SO not ready for that! I don't even have the baby clothes down from the attic and I'll need DH's help w/ that one. The car seat is still in the box. This baby needs to stay PUT. I am thinking about asking to be checked this week so I can rest assured that nothing is happening yet or at least know if something is happening. I never get checked this early but this time I'm hoping to be nice and firm and closed and baby's head high up!

Vicki LOL you remind me of me. I have all the clothes ready, but ONLY because a painter needed access to that room and they were thrown everywhere.
After last night (for me... OMG I was in so much pain!) I told DH I think I need to go ahead and pack the hospital bag just in case. He was like..I TOLD you that already! *eyeroll*

I have been in a bit of pain. But I keep telling myself I am so close. I just keep thinking about the labor and delivery pain that awaits me. And I keep hoping that God will allow me to have the vaginal birth that I really want! Most of the stuff has been done. We still have to go to the fire station to get the car seat installed. I have a few more things to hang on his wall. And we are waiting for some last minute baby items to be delivered in the mail. My hubby and I met with a breastfeeding counselor last week and are prolly going to meet with her again this Friday hopefully.
I also have my baby appointment tomorrow in the morning. I will be tested for the gbs so I am a bit nervous also. My hubby keeps thinking the baby will be here on or before my due date. And I am convinced he will be making his debut after my due date. And everyone else thinks he will be here before my due date. I just really hope he doesn't decide to come on April 12 or 13. That is when my mom and sis will be traveling out of town for a wedding. And I really want my mom there for the labor and delivery.
I am so excited though! I can't wait to look into the eyes of the life that I have helped create and hold him in my arms. I have been waiting for this moment for so long and I keep reminding myself when pain erupts that not much longer I will be blessed by God with an amazing baby boy! It's hard to be positive sometimes, I've noticed but I have wonderful family and friends and an Amazing God that loves me and takes care of me. I am so blessed!!! Smile

Ha - EVERYONE I talk to says my little girl is coming before her due date. I keep telling them - with my luck, it'll be after. They are just guessing early because I complain so much at work LOL

I get that all the time because my belly sticks out so far. People don't know what they're talking about!
