Soooo, I told MIL and my mom that they're gonna have to man the baby shower. Both of them are excited, mainly because it's a girl LOL. MIL told me to get a list together and addresses so we can send out invites since we want to have it in another month. I was online making a registry and...can I just say that there are 10000000000 different things to choose from?
I was just having this conversation today with a co-worker! She wants to schedule a baby shower for either February 23 or March 2nd.. which ever DH has off.
I didn't realize I should register so early.. I'll be 30 weeks.
So what theme do you have for her?? Colors??
Awesome that they are excited to do it for you! That is very sweet! And yes there is a lot of baby stuff out there, it can be overwhelming. I'm trying not to register for everything under the sun, because we just won't have the space. So I want to wait to buy any kind of play thingy like exersaucers. Those things take up so much space. I might see if one of my friends will give me a loaner. While I'm excited to have a shower, I'm really looking forward to loaner items so I don't have to hold on to them as the baby grows. I wouldn't mind if we had a house with storage.
There are a TON of items. I wish you could register for things in a generic sense, like just put "pink changing table covers" or "girly crib sheets" instead of having to register for specific ones.
Yep, there are tons and tons!
When I was making my registry, my good friend (who had a baby about a year older than mine) went through my registry for me to give me her opinion about if I missed anything that was "can't live without" or if I registered for anything that I probably wouldn't use. I would be happy to look at yours when it's done if you like, or you should have one of your IRL friends who has kids take a look. You don't have to follow anyone else's advice, but I found it very helpful to just have a BTDT mom look it over.
Okay great! If you want to PM me a link to your registries, I will be happy to take a look. Again, don't feel like you have to follow my advice, but I'll let you know if I think you missed anything you really need or put on anything that I think is pretty unnecessary.
I agree it is great to have someone look at the registry. Just remember it differs for everyone. My friend that looked at mine thought I was crazy for the video monitor I wanted because of cost and she never used it with her two kids. I can honestly say it was the best gift and we still use it with my daughter who will be 3 in April. My advice is avoid registering for cloths and even receiving blankets. You get soooooooo many anyways and when you register you get way too many of same small size when I reality the bigger ones are great when you have to buy for yourself
I remember being overwhelmed too! It really is hard to know what you will need until you actually have the baby so having someone look at the list is a great idea. How is Craigslist in your area? We got some of the large baby toys like a swing and exersaucer off of there, rather than putting them on our registry since it was way cheaper. Those were items that I would not have wanted to have if someone had to spend full price on them, but getting them used for cheap, it was very nice to have them to keep baby entertained for a few minutes so I could do things with my hands free from holding her!
Can you link your registry here? I'm feeling like nosing through someone's registry, lol. It's fun looking at baby stuff, especially if you're not getting a ton of stuff since its your second baby.
