ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Oh man. I was so excited last night because Reid fell asleep in my lap sucking his thumb instead of nursing. He did it all by himself too, like I was getting ready to whip out the boob and he stuck his thumb in his mouth instead, so I just went with it.

But then.

He can roll really well from his back to his tummy. But for whatever reason, he still struggles with tummy to back, even though that is supposed to be the easier of the two. He can do it sometimes, but not consistently. Also, he hates to be on his tummy. So what happens more often than not is that he rolls from his back to his tummy, gets stuck, gets mad, and starts crying. Eventually I rescue him and roll him back on his back, although I try to wait a while because I keep hoping that he'll figure out how to just roll back. Anyway, 3 times last night, he rolled from his back to his tummy and got stuck. So of course I would roll him back onto his back because I really don't want him sleeping on his tummy at least until he can easily roll back over. But by then he was awake and wanting to nurse. Bleh, soooo sleepy this morning.....can't wait for him to figure out the tummy to back roll so we can get back to normal....

I could have written this post except for the thumb sucking. Hope he learns soon!

Kylie is the same. She rolls easily and quickly from her back to belly, but has only rolled herself back a few times. She hasn't turned onto her stomach while sleeping yet. We lay her down on her back and it doesn't take her long to roll to her right side and she is sound asleep. Hope he figures it out soon so you can get some sleep.

Oh man, hope last night was better and you got some sleep. He is in his own room now right? So you have to get out of bed and roll him back over? That sounds rough. I bet he figures it out soon.

It's great that he didn't need to be nursed to sleep though. We were doing great in that department until this dreaded sleep regression. Now he has to be nursed before going to bed. It will put him to sleep until the moment I try swaddling him or putting him to bed and then its back to crying. But I think the nursing reduces the loudness of the crying, so it helps. Can't wait for Henry to be able to self soothe predictably.

Emma can roll in both directions, but doesn't really get that she can reset herself either. I can't imagine having to fix her position half the night!
