Anyone packing a hospital bag yet?

DH has been bugging me to get mine ready or he will do it himself lol! Poor guy is more nervous than I am about unexpected happenings. I keep telling him that I will know when the time gets closer but he insists. SO I am probably going to start packing at least a few things - if just to relieve him. Smile

DH was actually just telling me last night he thought he should go ahead and greet bags packed. I feel so scattered...like, we've done a lot to prepare for the baby, but I have a million little things that still need to be done and I'm having trouble keeping everything straight on my to-do list. I don't even remember what all I really need for the hospital either...what's going in your bag?

I haven't even considered packing any bags yet. I suppose with my prior history I will be totally shocked if this baby shows up before 40 weeks. Last time, with DS3 I didn't even bother to pack a hospital bag. I was planning a home birth but they tell you to pack one just in case things go wrong and you need to go to the hospital. I never did. I figured if I needed to go to the hospital DH could come back home and get me the stuff I needed.

This time I will likely do the same thing. One thing I really need to do is clean my house. I don't want the baby to be born into a messy house. I also need to do things like prepare my mattress for the birth and prepare baby's clothes. I still have another 5 weeks at least, though when I write that i'm starting to realize it isn't very much time!

I don't know? It's very quiet on all the boards. I keep hoping for more posts but it hasn't happened in a long time.

I think we probably are the only three left here. I remember when this place used to be so crazy active (when I was here for my first two). Oh well

I am just getting to packing my bag today. This is the list of things that I found online, but I might tweek it a bit since I don't want to bring a whole ton of stuff with me.

Pillow
Bathrobe
Toiletries
Contacts/solution
Camera/batteries
I.d/paperwork
Music/headphones
Slippers
Socks
Underwear
Pads
Book
Cell phone / charger
Nursing bra
Snacks
Carseat
Going home outfit for baby
Baby blanket
Towel/garbage bag for car trip (in case water breaks)
Loose/comfortable going home clothes
Changes of clothing
Shower shoes
Heat pack

I remember ppl saying during my first pregnancy to bring your own medications bc the hospital charges more-is that true? Should I bring my own prenatals and other prescriptions? (I take thyroid medication, too.) I also remember ppl saying they packed tucks. I didn't need that with my first bc she was a c/s, so I didn't worry about it. I don't remember bringing my own pads-I think I got that at the hospital?

When I had my 2 hospital births they provided medications that were needed for after birth (pretty much Advil and Tylenol and a stool softener) I imagine if you are on prescriptions you should bring them with you. They did not provide pads. I am in Canada though, so it could be different where you are. I hear some American hospitals provide so many things! Diapers, wipes, pads, car seats etc.

Yes the hospital provides so many diapers and wipes usually, along with some sample size care essentials. Definitely no car seat tho!
