Does anyone have experience with a good double stroller? I'm trying to figure out which kind we should get. I would really like something I can take to the park and jog with, but I'm wondering if a sit n stand style would be better. My son will be just about 22 months old when our baby arrives, so I want something that can grow with the kids. Affordability is also a factor. Curious on y'all's thoughts on this topic....
We have a double stroller. It is a Graco Duo Glider. For the kids, I liked that I could use it from the newborn stage (carseat that fit on); it had legroom available that I ended up using several times with a 2.5 year old and 4 year old on outings when we took long walks. (Baby was in a sling.) I liked that it offered protection and has several reclining settings for them. Loved the big basket on the bottom for shopping.
BUT -- it was not practical for jogging. I could walk fast without issue but not anything above that. (Additionally - using regular strollers for jogging with little ones honestly isn't safe as the child doesn't have the neck support; non-jogging strollers lack the suspension/shock absorbers needed for safety.)
I did consider some jogging strollers but finally decided that -- for us -- it was mostly to be used for family outings, long walks, etc. where the recline and use for newborn outweighed the need for the features found on jogging strollers. IF, however, I was going to be using primarily for jogging trails then definitely I would have chosen differently.
Hands down -- the BOB Dualie was my dream stroller but we felt we would not use it enough to justify the cost. (Granted, I have to wonder in hindsight IF I'd had it would I have used it more? LOL)
I never saw this or I would have responded earlier :)
I have tried quite a few double strollers. My favourites are the Phil & Ted's Sport (thought they might not make the exact same model now they make somethings similar) and the BOB Dualie. I really like the Phil & Ted's for shopping and going places where there is a tight fit (public transportation, outdoor fairs etc) I love my BOB for taking the kids to school every day when I'm not worried about fitting into tight spaces. The BOB easily pushes with one hand even with 2 kids in it. I was really lucky, I got my BOB for $59.99 at Value Village (a thrift store) They are normally $600 here! The other thing, it is not recommended you jog with a baby in it until they are 6 months old. You can attach a car seat to the BOB though, and maybe you can jog with the baby in the car seat, I'm not sure (I got it when my youngest was 16 months or so) We got our Phil & Ted's in summer 2009 when I was pregnant with my 2nd. We have used it on a daily basis every day since then and we do a lot of walking. It has been on several vacations with us and it folds down quite well in the car. After 4 years of heavy use our front wheel broke, we emailed Phil & Ted's and within days we had a new wheel at our front door at no charge to us. I was pretty impressed with that service, especially since we literally drove the stroller into the ground and we would have paid to have it fixed.
ETA: I don't think a sit and stand would be a good jogging stroller at all. Though economical the wheels don't push that great and I'm not sure you could safely strap both kids in. Also it doesn't have shocks as far as I know.
We absolutely loved our Bob dualie. Worth every penny. Easy to push, fits thru single door, third child can hitch a ride when they get tired.
Try Craig's list. Don't get the one with the fixed from wheel, get the one when the front wheel can be locked or unlocked. Otherwise it's a bear to steer and will hurt your wrists.
Just want to clarify-I would not use a non jogging stroller with my kids!! I certainly agree it isn't safe! Sorry if it sounded I was implying that. What I meant is I WANT a jogging stroller but because of am the affordability factor I'm thinking we will need to go with a sit n stand instead and I will have to just jog when DH can watch the kids.
Thanks for all the suggestions! My mom is coming to town today and we are goin to do some window shopping!
:) LOL I've *known* you long enough that I didn't think that. I only incl. that just in case someone else came along later to read. I should have clarified that! Sorry! Your choice to jog at times when you could be without kids was what I had opted for as well.

Haha:) thanks:) I still haven't found one I'm in love with, but I did see a few options. I know this seems silly, but the cup holders on a lot of them drove me crazy-like they were only big enough for a bottle or a small sippy by the handlebar, and I'd like to be able to fit my camelbak in the cup holder, or even a normal sized drink!
