Kassie finished her meds for her ear infections so I took her for a check up to make sure they are gone. The poor thing still has one infected ear, AND a broncial caugh.
This is after 3 courses of oral meds, 3 sets of ear drops, 4 courses of IV antibotics, and steriods (the IV and steroids were while we were in the hospital last week)
When we went to the ER the ped said that it sounded like she had a little heart murmer also  She didn't know if it was real, or from the stress of everything so I made our reg. doc check her out and sure enough...she has a heart murmer! He said it was a small one (what he called a 2 over 6) and it is not serious) But I am a little freaked out. He didn't give me much detail, so someone fill me in on what this is. Is it dangerous? How often should she be checked out? Is there anything she shouldn't do? Does it change any medications that she can have?????
I have to call her ENT tomorrow morning. But I cant even take her in to see him as I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow myself. I just want to scream!!!

OMG Leesa. No wonder you are stressed. Poor Kassie - she must be feeling quite poorly still. About the heart murmur.......I'm no expert but Harry was born with a heart murmur which then disappeared by his 6 week check! When the doc heard his heart rhythm, they sent him for x-rays on his chest to see what was going on. He never took meds (presumably because of his age). I understand that heart murmurs are not uncommon and that in many cases where they are present in children, they resolve themselves and do not necessarily require meds. Regarding how this affects Kassie's meds right now, if you can't speak with her paediatrician then I would consult a pharmacist - in the UK, I have often found them to be more knowledgeable about these things!!

I would definitely go back to your doc though for a more thorough explanation. I think often when we get this kind of news, we are unable to digest any information coming our way.

So sorry to hear that Kassie is still sick! Poor baby!! That is so surprising that they just discovered her heart murmur. That's quite a lot of information to take in all at once. :bigarmhug:
