This space is used to post guideline and rules set up by Pregnancy.org. If you are new to our board. Please make sure to read through them.

Signature and Avatar Guidelines

Please read the following Signature Guidelines (http://www.pregnancy.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=338824)

The signature size 400 width x 300 height or 300 width x 400 height includes tickers, blinkies, siggy cards or any other images, this excludes text since there is already a limited amount of text you can put into your siggy area.

Gift Exchange Guidelines

Hi all,

In order to both encourage more participation as well as to help safeguard member's private contact information (full names/mailing addresses) we have put in place the following rules below. Obviously this is not going to resolve all issues, but at least we do hope that it helps those involved have a more pleasant experience:
A host or preferably two (in case one gets sick) are asked to be the ones that are in charge of organizing all exchanges held on the board. This includes baby showers, birthday, holidays, cards, *secret sisters*... anything that involves collecting and giving out member's personal contact information -- full names/mailing addresses.

It is fine and even encouraged to involve members in the actual planning process -- i.e. setting $$ limits, type of exchange, day of opening, etc.

Make certain when posting about the signup that you DO mention that the member accepts any / all risks involved (i.e. neither you nor Pregnancy.org are responsible if they choose to participate.)

You do respect the confidentiality of ALL personal contact information submitted and under NO circumstance share it with anyone outside of admin(that would be in an emergency) without the permission of the member other than within the guidelines for the exchange (i.e. the person they are matched with would receive their info. No one else.)

NEVER post anyone's personal contact information or allow anyone else to. (See host instructions for more details) All submissions should be sent to the host organizing via pm or email. (*Tip* You may find that it is helpful to organize all this information as it is received in a separate folder on your computer.)

We do have eligibility requirements for participants. This is not meant to prevent members for taking part in the fun but insuring some protection for our members that those signing up are *legitimate* members onsite. Eligibility for participation in exchanges (any form!) are set at a minimum of 3 months Pregnancy.org membership <u>and</u> a minimum of 300 posts. This information may be found on any of their post or profile.

Please try to respect requests that ask NOT to have their private info sent to certain members. Obviously not everyone is going to get along and yes this does require a bit of extra effort. If you have problems please notify us using the email link at the top of this forum and we will help. This is not something that you should publicize -- simply if someone does come to you and specifically asks "Please do not give ______ my mailing address" then try to respect that if at all possible. (We obviously may have to revisit this in the future if it becomes a big ordeal.)

Remember that this IS meant to be fun and enjoyable for all involved. Other hosts are welcome to post on this thread to offer their own advice and suggestions on what makes for a successful exchange (or what not to do!)
Thanks everyone!
~Missy

This is GREAT, Megan!!! I know this was A LOT of work for you...it takes a lot of time to go through all those threads and pull the info, so THANK YOU!!!! I love that we have one place to go for this rather than several threads and several different websites for all of these excellent suggestions. And I cannot believe you made all those titles and product names links!!! You are amazing!

Some things to add for slings, pouches, etc:

Didymos - I only know one online store that sells them...http://www.betterforbabies.com/didymos-main.html
Ellaroo Wrap - can be found on several, but I found on http://www.betterforbabies.com/ellaroowrap.html
Maya wrap sling, Maya pouch and Maya tie - http://www.mayawrap.com/products.php

One other thought...maybe we can add a section for favorite websites?

btw, if I can, I would be happy to help maintain this. You've got enough on your plate!!! Let me know if there is a way I can help!

THANK YOU again for doing this!! I really appreciate it and I think it's going to be a great resource for all the girls!

Thanks ladies :)

Actually, Megan (DD) is quite handy with the keyboard but her typing looks a little more like this "babhph]
gajg'a

a
gdha'jg'djajgrr'rjg

hehehe ;)

Lisa, you're welcome! As long as it doesn't get to overwhelming...it shouldn't be too much at all. If you could do one job for me that would be to be another pair of "eyes" for me ...I just don't get around to every post sometimes so if you could transfer stuff you read about resources, etc. in other threads here, that would be amazing! Makes my job half as easy then ;)

I guess the goal with this thread was as we discussed not having a whole bunch of stickies about one topic.

Especially since not all topics apply to everyone in this board. This list would allow users to pick and pull what is useful to them and of course you can never forget that PO already has some amazing boards that have enough mroe stickies and information (babywearing board, cloth diapering board, etc).

I have to admit - I hate clutter and too many stickies does drive me mad....

I just want to make sure that everyone feels positive about this. I don't want just a few of us to make a decision that this would be useful, kwim?

So if you happen to read this, do you think this sticky would be useful to you? Or do you think it will just take up space? I think everyone should have an opinion and as long as the vast majority think the resources thread is a good idea - I say we keep chucking away at adding great things :)

Opinions - sticky worthy thread here?

Hey Ladies!

I've added a "Reminders" section to this thread. It will include preg.org guidelines as well as anything else we feel is important to copy into this thread for recalling later.

Please review the Signature/Avatar Guidelines and also the Exchange Guidelines, if you haven't already.

thanks!

a good baby wrap that my sister-in-law uses: The Ultimate Baby Wrap. Awesome carrier that you can re-wrap for different positions... she bought it at Babies R Us but I found it at Target, too.

Also, a good book for those with dogs: Baby and Bowser

The calendar we use is a free service, so unfortunately, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't ;) I know that sometimes I've had it not work for me and 5 minutes later it was fine. So I say try again later! Sorry!

What to pack for the hospital!

I copied and pasted responses into a Word document last time someone brought this up- I deleted some of the repeat stuff, but it isn't quite organized yet. Sorry this is massively long, but this is what I have.

Pajama's (preferably with a button-up top)
Undies (lots of them just in case)
Socks (your feet get cold in there!)
Book/magazines
Toothbrush
Shower Gel
Shampoo
Brush
Robe
2 Outfits for me (no waistbands!)
Going home outfit for baby
SNACKS
My pillow
Dermaplast
Giant pads
Toilet Paper (the hospital's tp feels like sandpaper!)
Digital camera
List of phone numbers of those we are calling

Don't forget your birth plan, stuff for dh if he's staying with you and a change of clothes for him.

When I toured the birthing suite where I am going to deliver, they actually gave a us alist broken down into 2 sections. Here is the list:

Labor Bag:
Pillows from home (use colored cases to distinguish from your birth place's linens)
Music you would like (may need to bring CD/Tape player if not provided)
Camera/Camcorder with charged batteries/accessories/film
Signed copies of your birth plan
Water bottles for ice/juice
Your own wash cloths
Waterproof pads for the car ride
Any clothes of your own that you wish to wear
List of people to call after the baby is born (calling card for long distance)
Lip Balm
Tooth brushes for everyone, toothpaste/mouthwash
Massage tools/counter pressure items (oils, massagers, tennis ball, etc)
Change of clothes for partner, including swim trunks for shower/pool
Baby book for getting the footrpints done by the nurse when she does the paperwork
Focal point, if you want one
Socks for mom
Special foods or drinks for labor/after delivery
Suckers or hard candy
Snacks for labor support
Anything esle you think you can use (pictures, etc)
Any reference book or pamphlet you might need
Extra money/change for vending machines
Notebook and pen for "noteables"

Postpartum Bag:
Nursing bras and pads or supportive bra if bottlefeeding
BF book/# of La Leche League or other BF support
Going home outfit for baby
Blanket for baby
More film
Another change of clothes for partner and any toiletries needed
Your own personal night gown, robe
Personal Hygiene items (shampoo, your own pads, etc)
Car seat with instructions
Going home outfit for mom (you will still look to be about 6 months PG. Most women wear the clothes that they wore to the hospital, some bring nursing shirts)
Birth announcements, stamps, envelopes

Nail clippers for the baby. The hospital staff isn't allowed to cut them. Or bring mittens for the baby if you plan to wait to trim the nails.

We'll also pack some music for labor. I need music.

I have to agree with the two list, that is what I put in my bag. I put in clothing for me while there and for going home. I put things for the baby like an outfit, blankets, and diapers.
