Oh, and no symptoms yet, except for sore gums (is that even a symptom)? I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't feel pregnant yet! Oh, and I've been doing a ton of on-line "window shopping" especially for maternity wear (I'm so excited!) and baby stuff! We do have names in mind, and I've mentioned them before. Esme, Lena or Maya for a girl, and Liam for a boy. But DH and I are both of the mind that we'll decide when we see the baby for the first time. DH and I are still in shock. He kisses my belly when ever he or I leave for work. It's really sweet. Anywho, that's it for now.

Jordan....oh Jordan! Are you gonna add me to the list? :( EDD October 16. (By MY dates, not my doctors...she has me down for the 18th. Stupid doctor.)

So, we've told our families. We did up packages with the Snow Baby onesies and "Congratulations on your grandchild-to-be" Hallmark cards and sent them off on Tuesday. Both families got the packages in the mail yesterday. My Dad called me last night and I answered the phone (been ignoring their calls til last night due to the BIG fight we had New Years Eve). I talked with Mom too. They're both really really excited. I told them not to spread the news around just yet, since we want to make sure it's gonna stick first! There was no mention of the big fight, but I'm still really hurt by their actions and words that day. I was hoping for an apology of some sort, but they probably feel I owe them an apology. I don't know. Oh, and I told my brother this morning. He's very excited as well. And Steve's parents got their package in the mail yesterday. They didn't call though. (Steve's parents don't have a home phone, just the pay-as-you-go cell phone that we got for them and pay for for them every month.) They didn't have any minutes left on the phone. (His parents make me really mad sometimes...). Anyways, his SISTER text messaged him this morning congratulating us. I told Steve to go add another $10 to the phone so that he could call her and talk to her today. Anywho, that's all my news.

Amber- I'm sorry that they didn't call to congratulate you guys. That kind of sucks. At least they could have went to a payphone or something. Oh well, we are all really excited for you so hopefully that makes you feel a little better.

Rach- Relax. It sounds like you are working too hard. I am waiting for those belly pics. I know that they are going to be great!

We got to see and hear the heartbeat today!! I talked one of my OB friends who knows how to use an ultrasound machine into doing one for me. My mom is here from AZ, and DH and my best friend were there...it was so surreal. I can't believe there's a little bean in there! Measuring right on, HB was 156. Tell me what you think!!

If anything I'm a little more bloated. I can't get over how gassy I am! Ever time I bubble (DH's nice name for it) he asks, "Was that you, or the baby?" I keep telling him it's the baby. He doesn't believe me. :(

I cannot wait til I pop and have to wear maternity clothes! I've been doing a lot of on-line window shopping.

Oh, and we went out to a movie with a couple that we've been friends with for a long time (Steve and I are both standing in their wedding in September). She gave me this BEAUTIFUL pregnancy journal! Now I'm gonna have 3 of them! I started one already, and I have one on the way in the mail. But I think that I like the one Pam gave me the best! It's a hardcover coil journal, with pockets in it and places to attach photos and everything. And there's lots of space to write stuff down! I'll have to take a picture of it to show you all sometime!

And Liz...I hope this baby bridges the gap between me and my parents. I don't really know though. Mom seems very excited about the baby, according to Dad, but she hasn't called me since. Actually, that was Dad that called on Wednesday. He called again yesterday. And DH refuses to speak to them til they apologize. It's still not all worked out yet. I know they don't feel they ever did anything wrong or treated us badly. I'm not holding my breath for an apology. I guess we'll see how it all plays out.

Oh, and I went to my new gym today with DH. We both signed up for the new Goodlife Fitness centre that opened last month. It's not as nice as Nubody's, where I had a membership, but it's half the price. I'm trying to do some moderate exercise. I'm also thinking about getting 1 or 2 personal training sessions with someone who has experience working with pregnant women. I don't want to over-do it, but I don't want to under-do it either, you know?

Man I'm talkative tonight! I should go to bed. I have to get up in 6 hours. G'night everyone!

Let's see if I can get this to work...here is our ultrasound. Sorry about the shaking, my mom is recording the screen with her camera. You can really see the heartbeat well around 30 seconds, and a few times after that. It still amazes me! By the way, the baby is the little glob in the middle left screen, in the bottom part of the teardrop-shaped thing (my uterus, lol). If you watch closely, around the 30 sec mark, you will see the heart flickering.

I am noticing a difference, just the last couple of days. I was looking in the mirror today and WOW! There's a bump there I can't suck in! He he, of course I'm sure no one can notice it but me, but that's ok...I love it.

Things are going well with DH and me. I wouldn't say he's "excited" yet, but DH isn't one to get excited about anything. The look on his face at the US said it all for me. He's been very supportive, wanting to go to all my OB appointments, and I know once he can see some evidence of the baby it will be more real for him. I think we're gonna be just fine.

More good news, I made an appt for a new OB doc today. I'm so excited! I was really disappointed with the other one...had a lot of trouble with the office staff (like waiting over 10 min on hold to make an appt, and no one ever came back on the phone...) and was NOT impressed with the doc. The new OB I am seeing came recommended by one of my staff docs who used to work with her. She used to be an attending (one of the docs who teaches residents) at my hospital, so I know she will be easy to talk to. Plus, they have a group of 5 midwives who work with them. YAY! And I had no trouble getting an appt to see her. My appt is Mar 7th. I am so excited! Did I say that already??

Even better news, I found out yesterday one of my closest friends who has been trying for a few months just found out she is pregnant too! What a great year this is going to be.

Well, if you made it through all that, congratulations. I love you guys, and I hope you know how much your support means to me. You ROCK!

okay okay, We NEED to see Dusti's pre-preggo picture!

OK, so I still haven't taken my update pic yet. Steve's gone running errands, so I'll get him to take it when he gets back. But I thought I should confess...........I used my last CB digital HPT. The instructions say that it takes up to 3 minutes for a result, but that a result may appear as early as one minute. Well, a big ol' + showed up after 40 seconds! I'm carrying around the test with me in my pocket so that I can take it out and look at it every time I feel like I need to. I know the + is going to disappear soon (they only last for an hour), but it's reassuring, especially since I started spotting again last night....even more than before. I took out the cartridge to look at the lines, and the test line is darker than the control, which is great, because when it first gave me my BFP, it was really faint. Anywho, thought I'd share....

So, maybe the "bloat" I was experiencing the past few days was less to do with my problems than I thought...I'm looking rather enormous.... :? I've got quite the gut goin' on! (I'd love to have a little tiny Yogamama tummy!)

Oh, and other updates....I had my tongue ring out for the last week due to some swelling I had going on in my gums and hard palate. That's cleared up now. I just put my tongue ring back in and it feel huge! I've had it for about 7 years now, and I hardly ever noticed it anymore. Well, I'm noticing it now! I'm glad that it didnt' grow over though!

In other news, I'm still spotting. More than before, but still brown (thank God). I think I'm gonna give the midwife a call later this evening. I just want to have someone who really knows what she's talking about tell me I'll be fine. I've also had some minor cramping. Fingers are crossed! This baby is staying put even if I have to hold my cervix closed myself! :shock:

And lastly, I can't wait til tomorrow....My ticker has been mentioning Paris Hilton for the past week....not too fond of that. Can't wait to see what it says next!

We got a new ultrasound machine today in our clinic, and the rep came to show us how to use it. After John and I talked it over, we decided this would be a good way to tell all of our friends and coworkers that we're expecting! So I got to be the guinea pig for his demonstration. The baby has doubled in size, heart was beating away at 160 bpm. You could even see the little arms and legs--it was amazing! There were lots of hugs and congratulations...and it's so nice not to have to hide it anymore. :) Oh, and my doppler came today! Still can't hear a heartbeat, though...but I know it's there!

On the not so good side, it has been a bad week for many others. Not only sweet Amber, but my good friend who found out she was pregnant last week miscarried yesterday...and she had been trying for several months. Another good friend who miscarried a few months ago (at 13 wks) was a mess today and I found out tomorrow was her due date...I'm just devastated for everyone. And starting to feel like the big, fat elephant in the room. It's hard to let myself be happy when so many people I care about are hurting for that very reason. *sigh* You are all in my prayers tonight.

Rachel, please don't let my sorrow take away from your happiness! That's the last thing in the world that I want for you. I know that you're hurting for me and for your IRL friends. But you've got a thriving little baby in there, and you need to celebrate him or her.

I know I mentioned it when you first found out you were pregnant...I was kinda jealous of you. Since last evening I thought those feelings would resurface again. But they haven't. How could I feel anything but hopeful and joyful toward you and others who are experiencing this? I knew that joy, and it needs to be experienced. Of course, I'm hurting for myself. But the hurt will lessen over time.

In the meantime, I think that experiencing this all with you...watching your bellies and babies grow just validates this all for me. My baby started out the same way yours did, made in love. Just as your baby is the center of your world, my baby is the center of mine. I so hope that you get what I'm saying here....I'm not the most eloquent person in the world. I WANT you and everyone blessed with a healthy baby to share with the board and with me. I don't want anyone to hold anything back. In fact, I'd rather you didn't. If your baby matters, it mean mine does too, if that makes any sense to you. I guess you really can't understand this all if you haven't experienced it yourself, and that's something I would never ever wish on anyone. I didn't get it before today. But I've done a lot of thinking....A LOT of thinking, about what all this means. I'm still working on it....and what I've got so far is that it has to mean SOMETHING. My baby has to mean something. (Like I said...I'm still working on it.)

In other news, peanut gave me quite a scare today. I was in clinic this morning and suddenly noticed my underwear was a little wet (sorry about the TMI...but I know there's no such thing with you girls...). And it just felt "different" so I went to the ladies' room and found myself spotting. My heart stopped in that instant...I was terrified. So I grabbed a friend of mine and went to use the ultrasound. Neither one of us could find the heartbeat. So by then a couple of my attendings knew what was going on (we're all pretty tight knit there, so I felt comfortable telling them) and they went and found another doc who is better trained in ultrasounds. He couldn't find the baby or the heartbeat for what seemed an eternity. By this time I was almost sobbing, because he found it yesterday with no problem. Then finally, the baby turned (you could see him rolling) right into the camera and we could see the heartbeat. That's when the tears started to come...I was so relieved! There was no sign of blood in the uterus that he could see. And he was so nice...he could see how upset I was, and once he could see the heartbeat he asked me if I just wanted to watch the baby for a few more minutes. I could have kissed him!

So I was ordered to leave clinic and go lay down for awhile. The spotting stopped as quickly as it started. It was just brown, not pink or red, and really not a whole lot. When I came back word had spread through the whole clinic, and I had all the nurses and other residents asking me if I was ok. At first I was a little upset that everyone knew, but in the end I was thankful that they care so much about me.

Whew! That was long...almost as long as my day felt! Thanks for reading, and thanks again for your input on the video. I love you guys!

I have an update!!

I just heard the heartbeat (170 bpm) for the first time with the doppler...I am sooo excited!! One of the attendings in my clinic tried for the longest time earlier today, and we thought we heard it for just a split second, but I wasn't convinced. So tonight, with a full bladder I tried with my home doppler, and found the heartbeat as soon as it touched my skin. What a beautiful sound! I can't tell you how relieved I am. I called DH up to the bedroom so he could listen (he wasn't quite as excited as me, darn men!), and then I called my mom in Arizona and she, my brother, and my sister all listened over the phone. It was awesome!

Hey guys! Nothing too exciting this week...been working my tail off. I'm up a total of 6 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight. My appetite is voracious now, and the nausea is pretty good most days. I've gotten a really bad sweet tooth the last 2 weeks! DH and I had an OB appt with a new doctor today, and I really like her--I'm so glad I switched! I didn't have to wait, the office was nice, as was the staff, and best of all she told me she tries to deliver her own babies, instead of just whoever is on call. Yay!! She told me she remembers being a resident and that she would let me overbook my appts or change at the last minute whenever I needed. I think she's a keeper. :) Got to hear the heartbeat today in the office too.

Now, for the moment you've all been waiting for...

John and I were putzing around after clinic yesterday and decided to play with the ultrasound machine. Look how big the baby is getting already!! This is 11w2d. It was so funny to watch him/her...s/he was using my uterus as a trampolene, lol. You can't see the detail from the picture, but on the U/S you could see all the little fingers. It was truly amazing, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Thanks for letting me share all this with you...it makes it that much more special. Love you all!

No, you're right, I am behind this week! I'm feeling well overall, still hungry all the time (which is sooo much better than feeling sick!) and have had a lot of stretching sensations the past few days. Bye-bye tight abs! Not a single line of my 6 pack left. :( But I'm not complaining, I know it will be so worth it! Up 7 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight. I had 3 people notice my belly the other day...they all know I am pregnant, so I don't think it's really obvious except to me and people who know me, but it still makes me happy to think I might be starting to show a little.

John and I went shopping for baby furniture today! I know it's still early (and I'm a little superstitious about that!) but there's a great sale going on near us and we want to start paying things off before the baby gets here. Just the major stuff...crib, dresser, glider. We ended up buying a camcorder which we've been wanting forever! I'm so excited!

I'm here, I'm here!! My month of hell is officially over as of 9pm tonight! I've been working on a horribly busy service and today was the last day (well, for 2 more months at least). I've been getting home around 8 or 9 every night, with barely enough energy to stuff food into my mouth and crawl into bed. Residency sucks sometimes. Remind me that it will be over soon!

Anyway, the updates you all have been waiting for...so much has happened in the last 2 weeks! We had our nuchal translucency scan a week ago to look for signs of chromosome problems like Down syndrome. That plus my blood test reduced our risk of those to less than 1 in 10,000, which is the lowest it can get! Plus we got to see our beautiful baby, who no longer resembles a peanut of any kind. He or she was jumping up and down on my bladder (which explains a lot!) and looks perfect! Too early to tell if it's a boy or girl yet...but I really feel like this is a boy (DH says he's going to laugh at me when it turns out to be a girl!). I have another appt in 6 weeks for a Level II scan, to look at all the organs and we should be able to find out the sex then if baby cooperates. In a couple of days when I get a few minutes, I will scan the pics for you to see. John videotaped the whole thing, and as soon as I can figure out how to share it, I will. It was so amazing!

I have been feeling pretty well, and over the last couple of days really seemed to have grown...my weight too, I'm up a total of 11 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight. It's been fun to have people noticing my belly. My best friend was commenting on how the "girls" have grown too...I was wondering when that would finally happen! I have graduated to a bigger bra, and bigger pants. I love having a baby belly!! Ladies, it is everything you hoped it would be.

If anyone is curious about symptoms, been having more headaches the last week, a ravenous appetite, boobs still sore but not as much (or I'm just getting used to the constant ache), terrible breakouts, which are the worst on my back (gross!), and peeing at least once an hour. I'm getting up 2-3 times a night, which started around 11-12 wks. But I'm not complaining, it's nice to feel and look pregnant.

So we went and told our families on Friday! The week leading up to it seemed to take forever. We told everyone that we were coming into town to look at a house that we've been thinking about buying if Drew get's transfered closer to them. We had to say something, because Drew isn't normally off on Friday's, he had to take the day off to tell them. When we finally got to town, we met my parents, my brother, and Drew's mom for lunch, and I got to tell them that we were having a baby. My mom kept slapping my dad's shoulder saying, "See! See! See!!" She knew there was another reason that we were coming to see them! I think her reaction was the best out of everyone. Everyone was so happy for us. They've been waiting for a while for this to happen. So now let the buying frenzy begin!

I just ate pickles on cheese. Homemade bread and butter pickles on cheddar cheese, to be exact. No bread or hamburger or anything like that. Straight pickles on cheese. It was yummy. I had seconds.

Rachel, I was checking out the Sept birth board and noticed some of the members are starting to find out gender. You're almost 15 weeks... do you have a date for the u/s yet? Are you going to find someone to help you play around with the u/s machine?

I have a 20 week US scheduled for May 9th, but I'm thinking of changing the place because the perinatologist I went to a couple of weeks ago doesn't have a 3D US (and the hospital I work at does in their OB dept). I was thinking of hijacking one of my favorite attendings in my dept who is trained in US, maybe middle of next week to see if we can find out if we have an 'innie' or an 'outie' earlier. I have no patience to wait 5 more weeks!! LOL...especially when a lot of the other women on my birthboard know already.

As for me, I think it's a boy...I know it seems silly, but I had a dream at 6 weeks it was a boy, and the Chinese calendar says it's a boy too. But all of my "symptoms" (like craving sweets) suggest a girl. My gut says boy. DH says he's going to laugh at me when it turns out to be a girl!!
