My mom was talking to a friend about my recent surgery and everything and the friend suggested that I take Omega 3 fish oil or eat at least 3 servings of cold water fish (blech, I hate fish lol) a week. She said that is improves fetility because it helps the ovaries to release eggs easier and it helps the fertilized egg stick to the lining of the uterus.
Does anyone know if this is true or if its just an old wives tale? Does it come in a pill type of supplement at all? I'd be curious to find out, couldn't hurt, could it? lol. I'm bringing out the big guns and trying everything these next few months... fertilitea, fertility supplements, opk's, pre-seed, baby dancing every other day for a few weeks (DH has gladly taken this responsibility and makes sure we keep to our schedule LOL). gosh darnit, I'm getting myself knocked up!!!

Not sure about the fertility increase, but when I was pregnant with my daughter my prenates also had a fish oil pill. My ob/gyn said it increases brain cells. Not sure if its true or not. I told my dad and he said when he was in the Marine Corps in Nam they gave them fish oil. So there might be something to it.
Sorry I couldnt answer about the fertility ????'s

I know it's a good thing to take for your overall health, and just as eating a balanced diet increases your fertility, I'm sure that would help, too. :D
Don't know anything specifics-wise on how it increases fertility, sorry. I do remember that it is a blood thinner... so just don't take more than the recommended dose and let them know you're taking that before any surgeries or dental procedures. :D Also I would stay away if you're already on any type of blood thinner.

hmm I guess if its in some prenatal vitamins then I guess it can't hurt for fertility! I definetly don't get enough fish in my diet (ie: none lol) so I think i'll try it out!

The health/vitamin store I go to recommended it to me, but also a warning. Make sure you check the lables to see if it is mercury/dioxin free. If it doesnt say that Dont take it. You know how we have to limit tuna in our preg diet? That is because of high mercury levels in the fish so if you are taking supplements made by those fish it could cause problems..... Its worth taking because it helps you make a "smart" baby.. good for the brain as was already said.

My mom is all into this too. My DH is dyslexic which is hereditary, so our child could easily be too. So Omega 3's help with brain function and development in pregnancy too. She has been researching and aparently the safer way to go is to get prenatals with omega 3's derived from seaweed instead of fatty fish. Plus they're really all not researched yet, so every way you go is still up in question and everybody has a different opinion. So, for my moms sanity, I'm taking Neuromins. We'll see! I haven't heard about it helping with fertility, but they seem to be doing wonders for other reasons

I have a friend on these boards, who took Omega 3-6-9, and absolutely swears by it. Says it increased her fertile CM, improved her O, and made her O quicker. I don't know what or how... I'll go ask her & see what info she has.

I would check with your doc or natropath before taking anyting "extra". Sometimes there can be "too much of a good thing". My advice would be try to eat healthy and well rounded instead, but I'm drinking a glass of wine and we had pizza for supper so I'd be a little bit of a hypocrite on that lol.
