I know a lot of us have furbabies, and I just wanted to see how many and what types people have.

Probably I have the most and with aspirations for more once we get a few things settled. My husband and I run a non-for-profit shelter for abused and neglected cats out of our home, which has led to us having quite a few furbabies.

Mine are:

Seymour, grey and white tabby, male, about eight years old.

Lili, siamese cross, female, about six years old.

Sun Tzu, black short hair, female, four and a half years old.

Buster, black and white short hair, male, four years old.

Lux, black long hair, male, four years old.

Data, orange tabby, male, five years old.

Blue, blue manx, female, three years old.

Banshae and Siryn, black short hairs, male and female, two years old.

Marco, blue short hair, male, two years old.

Cats belonging to my husband's aunt (who lives with us) -

Maxine, brown tabby, female, about twelve years old.

Cluesea, brown tabby, male, about five years old.

All of the cats are fixed with the possible exception of Cluesea (she brought him in as a stray about a year back), Data is declawed (done by a previous owner). Almost all (except four born in our house) were rescued from abusive or neglectful homes, or were living on the streets and showed signs of abuse.

As for the comment about more pets coming in...

My husband has promised that once we get his aunt moved out and in her own home we'll be getting two (male) rabbits, and that once the twins are about six months old we'll be getting two (descented and fixed) ferrets.

We have had both rabbits and ferrets before (the rabbit was cared for until it grew to full size, then returned to it's actual owner) and the ferret, sadly, was killed by his aunt shortly after she joined our household.

Our only fur baby is one and a half year old female Boston Terrier - Socks. She is a sweet dog except for when she's destroying my son's toys, our furniture and plants and escaping from the fenced in yard. :o)

My babies don't have fur, they're my wonderful feathered friends!

I have an Eclectus Parrot named Scarlett, she's female, the female eclectus are red and purple and the males are green.

Then there's Poe, a black lori, she thinks she's a dog and plays like one too. There's only about 600 black lori's in the US, so i'm lucky to have her!

And i have Osiris, a green cheek conure, he's a little sweetie but he loves my husband the most, he goes nuts everytime he sees him!

And i also have a pair of lovebirds, Casanova and Izzy, who have 4 little baby lovebirds right now.

I have a 7 years old gray Tabby named Pishi (Pee-shee, its Farsi for "kitty"), and a soon to be 2 year old long haired black female kitty with the most beautiful fluffy tail; her name is Sunny, but she never gets referred to as that. Its usually Squickers or Squick Squack. I guess Pishi rarely gets called Pishi, but its usually Wisher Wheats or Swishers, hahahaha.
Ya, you guessed it, my dd has a million names, too....Babbers, Pip, Boobers, Babs, Gabs, Bippers, Bips, The Olive, and I am sure there are more :) But this is about the furbabies so I will stop, hahaha

We rescued an abandoned yellow lab/akita mix puppy in November - we named her Sunny because at first we thought she was pure lab and just had really light hair because it was bleached by the Sun. When we got her she was nothing but skin and bones...she gained 10 pounds the first month we had her and she was still on the smaller side.

She has tons of energy and unfortunately likes to chew and dig!!! She dug one hole out by the fence that separates our yard from the house behind us...and it was so deep that she went below the footing to the fence and could have easily come up in the neighbor's yard.

Luckily, she's only chewed up one pair of sandals, one blanket, and cushions on the old couch. For some reason she likes the taste of rubber/plastic...so she's chewed up tons of tennis balls, the electrical wires (wrapped in plastic/rubber) from DHs dirt bike, and the other day she started chewing on the wires that connect the A/C units to the house - that made me mad! Now I feel like I can't leave her in the backyard unattended...which is a problem when DH and I both have to be away from the house.

I love my furbabies too.... :)

We have four.

First there was Kaylee who I got from a family whose son I taught at Head Start. She was just a little over a pound when I got her and a big ball of black fur. Now she's an 8 pound ball of fur who rules the house (well at least all the furbabies).

Next is Joey. My black and tan dachshund. We got him at a petstore and he came with some issues surrounding the fact that he came from a puppymill, but he's my love. John was the one who wanted a dog and we were going to wait until we got a house, but I saw him at the store and fell in love with him and there was no way I was about to leave him there.

Joey needed a friend so along came Toby. He came from a good breeder when we were living in Florida. Toby's the "baby" and he is a huge momma's boy. He's a cream dachshund. Both the puppies are super snuggling and just such loves. And to think I didn't used to consider myself a dog person.

Along came Chase once we moved to Alaska. I was still heartbroken over loosing our cat Tommy on our move from Florida to Alaska (he escaped out the door when we stopped in California to use the restrooms. Anyhow, Chase isn't a year old yet and a little monster. He's a seal mitted ragdoll. He likes to get in trouble by stealing food at night (even though he has food in his dish!). He's also another momma's boy and is scared of strangers. He loves the puppies. Kaylee enjoys his company now and plays with him, but the puppies took right to him when I brought him home and he seeks them out for comfort and security.

Sorry that's so long. Here are some pictures of my crew.

Taken in December I think... Chase has grown since then.

Taken a day after bringing Chase home. He was so so tiny, only a pound.

The puppies!! When they were puppies. This was taken the day after I brought Toby home... they took to each other very quickly.

We have a 4 year old German Shepard. Her hobbies are following me around the house, pulling with all her might on all her walks, and going nuts when she sees other people or dogs. We did just buy a new leash last night, that says it stops pulling instantly, we will see if it works. We bought a stroller, and have been walking our dog and the stroller, to get her and us used to handling a dog and a stroller at the same time, it is not going to good so far. OH, well, I am sure with time, she will get better about not pulling. :)

Melly, is it a 'harness' leash, or is it one of the type that includes something that looks like (but isn't) a muzzle. I've found the 'face lead' leashes to be much more effective for putting an end to pulling, and they don't choke a dog the way a harness style does when the puppy gets excited and pulls to hard.

I'm glad to see so many adorable furbabies out there!

Anyone have plans on how to introduce them to the new arrivals come September?
