Ok so I have starting to look at bedding & room decor. I am thinking something soft & sweet. Well DH walks in the bedroom lastnight with a Magazine. He says to me, Oh I found the perfect baby bedding. I was so excited that he was even looking & getting involved. Little to my suprise he was holding a Cabela's Magazine (Hunting Magazine). He opens the page & it is camoflauge baby bedding. He is specific that it has to be mossy oak. I was like "WHAT???" "Uh..." "No flipping Way!!". He is sooooo set on it. He says that is what the bedding is going to be - for a boy. WHat is he thinking??? How do I change his mind??? I can not do it! There is noooo way! Not happening! The issue is my DH is very stubborn & always gets his way. AHHHH....

You see we are total opposite's he is a country bumpkin who ia all about hunting anything & fishes everything. Yet, I on the other hand am a city girl, anti-hunter & a borderline - vegetarian at that. Go figure! How did this happen?? Mind you he is the one that said I have to have this baby out by Sept. 16, cause it will effect his open season for deer hunting. lmbo :) Eh, Opposites attrack & I would not trade him for the world.

 He sounds like my dad.....avid hunter, fisherman, etc. I can't believe a hunting magazine would even have crib bedding! LOL You'll have to show us a pic.

that is a very "special" bedding set...

I couldn't resist and googled it... here is a link:

Boy I would say, that he can get the "Mossy Oak" blanket for when you go camping, but that is it! (maybe you never go camping and you will never have to face this lovely little item)

It is cute that your DH was looking at bedding, but my heavens that is just a bit much huh?

You need the immediate intervention of a good friend or your mom. Pick out the bedding you want (and maybe something you think your DH could even live with) and instruct your partner in crime that they MUST purchase this for you - even if you pay for it really, but that way it seems like a gift and you get to skip the Mossy Oak theme!

Good luck city girl!!

:bigscream: Yes, That's it!! Isn't that terrible. I mean come on. There is no way in **** I am allowing this. Since then he has brought it up. I ask him, how do you decorate with camo? He says that he would like to see Lab puppy portraits, Bird lamps, a big bear rug so far... I can not believe I am hearing this. I was hoping for a boy, but perhaps I need to pull for a girl now.. Oh wait!! They do make pink camo don't they? OH NOOO

Oh dear... that is not cute! LOL I'm sorry to giggle at your predicament! Is there any way that you could work his theme into some sort of a compromise? There are other bedding sets that are more "outdoorsy" or country themed. I would just try to find some other bedding sets and show those to him too. He may very well change his mind.

One of my friends has her son's room done completely in camo. And I do mean completely. Comforter, bumper, crib skirt, blankets, boppy, name plaque, onsies, bibs, toys, clothes, picture frame. The father's a big time hunter... and yes, and guess what they named the kid. Hunter. :) His nursery is definitely something I've never seen before.

HAHAHA maybe you can compromise if he gets the bedding then you get to decorate the room to totally hide the hideous bedding!

And PRAY for a girl!

oh that's just WRONG  Tell him he just can't have it, we have all vetoed it! Maybe let him get a camo blanket to "compromise"

Tell him that you can't use camo bedding, because then it will be too hard to see the crib! LOL!

Thats hilarious, I can't believe they make that. Just get someone to buy the bedding set you want and tell him you have to use that because it was a gift.

Some compromise suggestions:

Instead of a cammo bed, why not take his ideas for the rest of the room into sway?
They make some adorable 'bear rugs' for children now, nice, soft..basically a large, flat teddy bear. And instead of having duck decoys, what about stuffed animal ducks? You could even use gentle greens and brown for the bedding (and think what a saver that will be for stain coverage).

Just because it's a baby, doesn't mean the room has to be 'frilly' remember. If your husband wants to take an interest...then sit down and work out something that you could both enjoy.

A few discriminating touches could turn that 'hunters haven' into a very nice 'enchanted forest' after all.

Glad my DH has more interests than just hunting and guns (amazing since DH is a gun dealer)...if we have a boy, it will be airplanes...nothing outdoorsy. Hope you come to a good compromise!!!

Thanks for all the support on this camo deal.

I think I have solved it... I THREW THE MAGAZINE AWAY THIS MORNING!!
Actually I threw all of his hunting catalogs that would have any hunters room decor in it. No trace of it anywhere! He He... And because DH does not even know how to turn the computer on, I don't have to worry about ordering online. :P I hope this works.

It is sooo darn ugly!

Well good that makes two of us that don't like it. I am not into the outdoors or even country theme decor. There is nothing wrong with it, but just not for me. I just cant believe that after all that we spent on the baby bed, which we really splurged on, that he would want to throw that uglly bedding on it.

We got a cherry slay crib & I was thinking like more delicate colors to go with the furniture.

For a girl I wanted to do all white with hints of pink, with rose walls & the Cherry Furniture.

For a Boy more neutral colors like tans & olive greens with the Cherry.

you'd never find the baby in all that camo!!!! that is crazy!!! tell him when he pushes a baby out of his body that he can pick the bedding then!!! Thank goodness my DH doesn't care about this kind of stuff at all.

LMBO my friend had the same thing happen with her hubby - they went to Cabela's and he wanted to do a mural of some kind in the nursery - anyway, funny men!

Wahoo - smart thinkin' girl - throwing out the magazines! He will never be able to get it now :)

This is so funny. I had to read it to my husband who also got a good laugh out of it. Don't feel bad our ds was born Oct 25th so dh couldn't go on his big yearly hunting trip  I didn't feel bad, but I heard an awful lot about it from him and my father and law.
