Call me crazy, call me selfish, but I need a break from mommyhood! I love love love my kids, but this 24/7 thing is killing me.
I've decided, with DH's full support, to take a couple of days off from my life. So here's what I'm doing. Next Tuesday morning, after I get Silvan to daycare and tidy up the house, I'm going to pack a small bag, hop on the metro to downtown DC, and check into a nice hotel (http://www.thechurchillhotel.com/wmspage.cfm?parm1=36) for two nights! Tuesday afternoon I'm going to wander around Dupont Circle (http://www.kestan.com/travel/dc/dup_cir/), sit in a coffee shop, sip a cold drink, and read a book. Tuesday evening I'm having dinner with a friend and his new fiancee -- I wil probably drink too much wine and go to bed very late! (like after 10) I will then sleep alllllll night with no interruptions from hungry babies or toddlers who need a cuddle, and I'll wake up when I've actually had enough sleep, and not a minute before! Wednesday morning I'm going to see the Bodies exhibit (http://www.bodiestheexhibition.com/), then maybe wander down to the Mall (http://dcpages.com/Tourism/) and catch some other exhibits I've been wanting to see. Wednesday night I'm having dinner with two girlfriends at Komi (http://www.komirestaurant.com/), one of DC's hottest new restaurants. Again, I will probably drink a lot of good wine, maybe even some cognac, and go to bed late. Thursday morning I will sleep and sleep as late as I possibly can, take a long luxurious shower, have room service, and hop on the metro -- hopefully refreshed and ready for new challenges -- back to my mommy life in Bethesda. :) :) :)
DH is only allowed to call me in the event of an emergency. He and the kids will probably survive without me just fine, right?
