My husband and I are tossing ideas of possible places to move and earn pretty decent salaries. Canada was one of the thoughts we had. So I need input from you on your pros and cons of living and working in various parts of Canada. We are both educators, I have a masters (not sure what level I am classified to teach on with that) and he has a doctorate (University level position wanted). So what do your'll think is Canada worth putting on our radar? Oh also we only speak English and will be migrating from Florida!

I'm not from Canada, but visited there twice in the past few years. We just went to Quebec City this summer. We used to have several Canadians around here, but I'm not sure where they all went... I think Jenn's canadian, aren't you?
Wow, the winters will be pretty powerful coming from Florida! Brrrr!

I'm also not Canadian, but my mother is and I currently live in Florida (Miami). I've spent a lot of time there on vacation, and it's a gorgeous place, but I would definitely spend some time there in the winter before making the move. My mother's overriding memory from childhood is being bitterly cold. To this day, she refuses to travel anywhere when it's going be below 40 degrees F! The people are really nice, and it's relatively unpopulated compared to the US. What part of Canada were you thinking of?

Hi I'm from Miami too. I've visited Vancouver. I agree that it is beautiful and the people are great. I don't know much more about it though. I do know that people that live there love it; and they are really good with health insurance. If you don't have any ties here, than I would say "yes, it's worth putting on your radar."

Thanks ladies for your replies. I know the winter would be the worst. But I figured since I withstood Germany's winter without heat, that maybe I might be able to take on Canada. I have no clue where I would want to live in Canada. Honestly I don't even know that much about it. My DH is just really serious about furthering his career and unfortunately it is bleek here in florida. So he just laid it in my hands to think of some places..... :? Wow could he have given me harder job to do. Well had ruled out so many places in the US that I got this bright idea about Canada. I figured it's close enough to the US and the healthcare is awesome.
I guess I am gonna go back to searching for more info :violent1:
