Rose-Menopur question

Do you think that since I have to use cetrotide with Gonal-F, I would be a poor candidate for Menopur? Just wondering. I have seen some local RE sites stating that they are using that more and more because of the LH that is in the formulation. I was just thinking maybe I would get a mature egg earlier than CD 13/14 with that, but I probably would still have to take cetrotide. I guess maybe that answers my own question. :wink: Anyway, I know this isn't necessarily your area, but I wanted your medical knowledge on this. I have been wondering if Gonal-F is really doing it for me and if I need a combo of something. letrozole and Gonal-F maybe?

Sorry I just saw this post while I was lurking....

I am not really sure if I know the answer, the area of combining injectables for IF treatments is very complicated and still under development. So I am not even sure if there really is a right or wrong answer even if you ask this question to REs. My thought is that if you can take Gonal-F while on Cetrotide there is no reason that you cannot take Menopur in addition to or in place of Gonal-F. Menopur is a mixture of FSH and LH, and Gonal F is similar to FSH. Both FSH and LH are secreted from the body by the stimulation of GnRH hormone naturally and these hormones regulate our cycles. Cetrotide inhibits the action of GnRH thereby the secretion of FSH and LH, so that the poor eggies have time to grow. So....If Cetrotide inhibits both FSH and LH, and if you are allowed take FSH (Gonal-F), you might be able to take Menopur (FSH and LH) as well. But.... I agree with your concern that due to that LH component of Menopur the eggs *may* mature a little earlier. I am not sure if that would be a problem or not. This is something your RE can hopefully answer.

It is an important issue because everybody's response to every medication is different. For me Gonal F did little more than taking daily candies! When it was combined with Menopur I had a beautiful response....

So, I would definitely bring this up to your RE and also ask for other injectable options.
