I was looking at your avatar and today and thinking.... Football and Texas, lol - quite a change from New Year's Eve parties and New York! When did you move? And why - family, jobs, just wanted a change? Are you liking Texas? Belated congrats, BTW. :bigblink:

Hi Liz!
Well, I've always loved college football! I'm a huge college sports fan. Our teams are USC and Nevada...no matter where we live. :)
I might go back to my New Year's Eve avatar pic though...I had so much fun that night. That's one thing New York is really good at...parties.
We moved to Austin in the beginning of June. After Tyson won the $ on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, we knew we wanted to buy a house and we knew we didn't want to spend $1.5-2 million on a tiny apartment in the city. I had been tired of working ridiculous ad agency hours for a while, and Tyson can commute from almost anywhere, so we looked for a city that was fun, with liberal, environmentally friendly people, low housing costs and a Master's in Nursing program for people with a Bachelor's degree is something else. With criteria like that...there was only one city left.
We like Texas a lot so far. My BFF just moved to Houston after living out of the country for the last 3 years, so it's really nice having her close by. My brother, SIL and two nephews live about 5 hours away.
Sometimes I get a little bored because there aren't a million things to do at the last minute, and I desperately miss being able to order any kind of food for delivery at any time of day, but the quiet is nice. And we went from a 600 sf apartment to a 1600 sf home, so that's really nice.

It continually amazes me how nice people are here...always smiling and saying hello. There is some kind of happy bug here that doesn't exist in NYC.

How's nursing? Are you enjoying it as much as you though you would? How are the wedding plans coming along? The big day is in less than two months, right? Woot! Do you have all the details ironed out yet? I love fall weddings. I think it's the prettiest time of year to get married, especially outside. You'll have to be sure to share lots of pictures.

No, I don't have all the details completely ironed out yet... but eh.. I still have 7 weeks, right? Yeah I love nursing, but don't necessary like the place where I work all the time. We work short-staffed a lot, and the patients on the floor I work on are mostly acute. Not a good combination. How about you? You are going for your Master's in nursing? Good for you, that's great! :bigblink: I guess you decided to quit the ad agency before it ate your heart and soul? kidding! Are you taking the classes this fall? It's nice to be in touch with you again. I hope you get your BFP this cycle! :goodluck:

I have a years worth of pre-reqs to take before the master's proram. This semester I'm taking statistics, anatomy and chemistry. I'll probably take a nutrition and a child development class online as well. Next semester I'll take phyisiology, microbiology, pharmacology and I think two more classes...can't remember right now. Actually, as of yesterday, I think I'm not going to apply to the master's program until next year. It starts in June, so if I have a baby next year, the timing would be bad. It's a super-intense, full-time program...pretty sure there's no maternity leave :).
It's good to be on the same board with you as well. :) Who knew you'd end up getting delayed so long and my body would be so disfunctional? I hope we both get to stay in June!
