Ugh.... She was sent home early from preschool today with that "barking like a seal" cough and a fever of 102.1 and things went downhill from there. We ended up taking her to the pediatric urgent care clinic this evening. They gave her some oral medicine, well tried to give it to her, she was almost done with it and puked it all back up. So she got a shot, poor thing. She asked the nurse to put it in her arm, and the nurse said it had to go in her leg and that's when she started to cry. It's 9:40 pm and Tiven's watching a Madeline video and DH & I are waiting for pizza to arrive and we have Pedialyte pops in the freezer and I've had a glass of wine, so I think we're all ready for a very long night.

Send get well thoughts for Tiven, and stay well thoughts for DH & me, please!

Poor thing! Croup is so sad to listen to isn't? I hope this passes quickly for Tiven. Enjoy your pizza and wine!

When Emiko got croup last summer they told us to alternate between a steamy shower and cold air. Maybe that'll alleviate any discomfort?

Oh no Stacey! I am so sorry to hear about Tiven. I remember going through that with Matthew and he ended up getting a steroid shot and it helped him tremendously.

Hopefully everyone made it through the night okay.....I will be thinking about you.

Oh no. I hope she gets over it quickly. I guess you can expect her to get sick more now that she is in school.

LOL, Angie, that's what DH said! Tiven literally had only two colds in her three years of life, and now in three months of preschool she's had two colds and now croup. We actually slept pretty well and her fever is gone this morning but every time she talks she coughs. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I'd be allowing my child to eat a popsicle for breakfast.

Poor Tiven! I absolutely hate the croup! When Emma had it once we ended up making a 1 am trip to the e.r. (with baby Bella in tow). I was mad too b/c I had called the pedi after hours and said that her cough was most certainly croup and it had gotten steadily worse all afternoon. They told me to come in the next day. When Emma was throwing up phlegm and afraid she was going to choke on it as her throat was so constricted we took her to the e.r. and they gave her a steroid shot and some codeine syrup and she was much better by morning. But I coulda saved myself the 1 am trip if they had seen her at 6 when I called.

Poor Tiven! I hope she is feeling better... Lucky you that she would eat the Pedialyte pops - Mason wanted no part of them when he had the stomach bug earlier this year.

:bighug: to Tiven! Mama and Papa, too. ;)

So sorry to hear Tiven isn't feeling well. The one thing preschoolers are good at sharing are germs!! Claudia had croup several times over the last 3 years. The steroids always helped right away though. Hopefully the worst of it is over for you guys and you get some sleep.

The doctor mentioned that some kids don't like the Pedialyte pops because they're "too salty" but Tiven said after the first few bites of the one at the doctor's office that she liked that it wasn't too sweet. Funny thing, though, she will only eat half of each one. I now have three halves of perfectly good pops!

We had an OK night last night, and she fell asleep this evening while watching "Schoolhouse Rock" so I hope we have another OK night. I really have to go to work tomorrow, I'm on the stand next week!
