Anyone else being surprised about gender of your baby?

Hey all,

I introduced myself in here a few months ago but haven't been posting much due to a crazy schedule. I will try to come in more regularly from here on out. I am almost to 22 weeks in this pregnancy, had my ultrasound almost 4 weeks ago, and we decided not to find out the gender of the baby. DH wasn't too thrilled as he wanted to know, but he eventually agreed and let us do it the way I wanted to. We already have one son and two girls, so I figured what do we have to lose? We have clothes for both already. I just think it will be so fun to have that extra surprise when I finally have the baby and it will give me extra motivation to handle the labour and delivery. Have any of you done this before or are you doing it this time around?

If you take a look at the sticky above (http://www.pregnancy.org/bulletinboards/showthread.php?688012-*-*August-2012-EDD-amp-Blinkies-List*-*-STICKY-PLEASE) you'll see several green "surprise" Moms posted. Biggrin

We're waiting to find out. In fact, I haven't had any u/s yet, so there's no way to know the sex even if I wanted to Wink

I love the surprise. With DS's labour I felt it gave me more "umpf" to keep going because I had to find out the sex of my baby! My 28hr labour was not fun, but worth it because I just HAD to find out the sex of the babe I'd been growing all this time.

Even if you didn't have clothes for one or the other there is plenty of time after the birth to go shopping for "gender specific" clothing. I liked all the yellows and greens my son wore in the beginning. He looked so sweet in his white sleepers.

Are you going to stick with the "J" theme in naming? Have any ideas for names this time around? Glad to see you posting agian Smile

I'm in the team green camp!!! I didn't find out with my oldest, found out with my next two and decided I prefer not finding out so we are going to be surprised at the end again this time! I can't wait!

Glad to see you posting, I hope you can stick around more Smile

We aren't finding out either. The genders of my other two were surprises as well. It was harder for me not to find out this time around, but I'm glad I stuck with it; I love that moment of "it's a ___!" after the delivery. Smile

EXACTLY! That is exactly how I feel it will be like for me. Just give me extra motivation and determination to get through it so I can find out if its a boy or girl. Smile

Yes, we are sticking to the J theme. We have some ideas for girls, but I only want one name for a boy and haven't convinced DH of it yet. This will be the first baby we won't have named way before he/she was born. It will be interesting to name him/her in the hospital. Hopefully we can agree when we see our babys little face for the first time.

Hi there

I was going to find out, went to the U/S and baby decided it wasn't time for us to know, soooo I've decided to be on team green. I'm not going to go for another U/S for the sole purpose of finding out. I have 2 boys and I found out with both, so it will be fun to have the surprise i think. At first I was a little antsy about going another 20 or so weeks without knowing, but now I'm kind of excited Smile

Me!

As with the other 3, I'm not planning any U/S sp there would be no way of knowing...

In fact, last time I totally forgot about the whole boy/girl thing and it was only about 5-10 minutes after he was born that DH said, "so is it a a boy or a girl?" Oh, yeah, right... oops. I suppose I ought to check!:D

I know what you mean! But I figure, I didn't know the first 18 weeks, whats 20+ more weeks? My hubby was the hard one to convince but he finally agreed to do it my way and it isn't even bothering me that I don't know. I am just so excited about the fact that when I find out I will be holding my baby in my arms already! Funny thing is, I asked the ultrasound technician to record that part of the baby and label it so I could technically go watch it and find out right now if I wanted. But I have the willpower to resist so it hasn't been a temptation for me at all. But I don't think my husband would have resisted peeking at the dvd after the fact, so I hid it and he has no clue where it is. This way we can go back later on after we have the baby and watch that part of the ultrasound we missed because we were all closing our eyes. Smile
