EEK! - Next week's appointment will NOT be fun...

So, I had my 35 week appointment today. Everything looks great - BP was 110/70, my weight was up again (I blame most of it on water weight atm, though!), baby's HB is great, and he is still head down and well engaged. My OB checked me again, since he needed to check the cyst on my cervix anyway. I'm about 1/2 to 1 cm dilated, but still long and thick, so no immediately impending labor. I had a feeling that I might be dilated a bit because I've definitely started having some occasional noticeable contractions.

The cyst is still there, and still the size of a ping pong ball. *sigh* He is still not concerned with it causing any problems with labor or dilation, but he wants to drain it at my next appointment, anyway, to just reduce any risk of that. I'm happy with that decision because I was going to ask him to do that anyway, but I'm SO nervous about the actual procedure. Seriously, he's going up my va-jay-jay with a freaking needle! He keeps saying that it'll be fairly easy and simple - ummm, yeah, for HIM! LOL I'm planning to take a couple of Tylenol prior to my next appointment to help with the pain, but anyone have any other suggestions of how I can alleviate any pain from that?? I'm not sure the Tylenol will help enough!

And, as usual (I swear this happened with my last pregnancy, too - which makes sense since her due date was just 2 days earlier than this one is) my OB is leaving to go out of town next week. He'll be gone through the 6th of August, so if I go into labor before he gets back, I'm stuck with whoever. Blah. He once again offered me an induction - said we could schedule it anytime the weekend of August 10-12... and I, once again, declined the induction. But he said it's an open offer and if I change my mind to just let him know. That's a SUCKY offer to have out on the table when you are already miserable at 35 weeks and are planning to go as natural as possible!! It's going to take all of my willpower to not take him up on it when I'm 39 weeks and even MORE miserable! *sigh*

Anyway, I'm rambling... sorry. lol

Vodka, Rum, Tequila Scotch?! Just kidding! Although I would probably take one of those for me to even want to think about it. I would definitely be treating myself to something nice after...Portillo's Chocolate Cake Shake, or a fave frapp or smoothie.

At least he will be back by the 6th...but I understand your concern. My midwife is going out of town from the 5th-12th...which makes me nervous also as it is even further into the month. Hope you don't have baby while he is gone.

And good job declining the induction...you will be much happier with it if you let the baby come on his own. Inducing and going all natural is very hard, I did it with my last baby. Was induced with water breaking and pitocin and laboured without any pain meds the whole time. It is much worse with pitocin than going into labour naturally.

I bet you will be able to have your all natural birth just fine...just be patient and let baby come when he is good and ready. Smile

You can't be the first person to ever have had this procedure...so I'm sure your doctor has advice for your comfort. Phone in and ask how to prepare!

I always think of the same thing...describing a pain to a MALE dr. They have no clue...haha!
((HUGS)) So sorry you have to go through this...it sure sounds painful, but hopefully, it will be over before you know it!!!!!!!
I agree about the Tylenol and have no advice. I agree w/ the OP...treat yourself after the appointment!!!

Wishing you the best of luck at your next appt! I guess a bunch of our Dr.s and MWs are taking vacations right now. Mine was on vacation this week which I told him was good since he'd be back in plenty of time for my delivery!
