Hospital Bags...Time to start thinking about them.

Just thinking about putting it together seems a little crazy already. But I'll be 33 weeks on Friday, and at my OB appt yesterday she said LO is starting to drop already! I kind of thought so just because of the feeling I was getting 'down there' but I thought it was really early, especially for a BTDT. She thinks he will come at least a week early, possibly more. I'm not complaining, not with the heat we are already getting here. Although, I he needs to wait until after 7pm on July 21st...DH just bought our tickets to see Dark Knight Rises at Navy Pier IMAX, and I'd really hate to miss that!

Basically I've started thinking about getting pieces of my bag together so if nothing else, I can tell DH where to pick the stuff up in the house if we go in early. Here's what I'm looking at so far. What are you ladies taking?i Really hated wearing the hospital gowns after delivery last time (and DH actually showed up with pre-preg jeans and tank top...in Dec), so I want to take my own clothes.

My Hospital Bag
Socks 2-3 pairs
Undies
Pajamas (2 sets)
Cloths to wear in Hospital...probably light weight shorts and nursing tops
Something to wear home (Similar to hospital cloths)
Shampoo and Conditioner
Body Wash and Loofa
Deodorant
Face Wash
Toothbrush and Toothpaste
Hairbrush and Ponytails
Hairspray
Detangler
Lotion
Chapstick
A little make-up (I'm vain for pics! Just some Magix (Avon clear coverup) and eyeliner
Breast Pads
Pads
Flip Flops, although I'll probably just wear them there.

Stuff for Baby
Gowns 2-3
Onsies 2-3
Socks
Going Home Outfit (1 in newborn, 1 in 0-3)
Mittens and Hat
Receiving Blankets
Nail clippers
Rash Cream
Binkies (maybe)
CLoth Diapers (maybe)

Also can't forget my Ipod, Phone and Charger on the way out the door.

I don't plan on taking much for the baby. Our hospital gave us tons of stuff last time and we didn't really need much. They had diapers, wipes, rash cream, vasaline, cloths and blankets, just about everything you'd need. I still want to take him some of his own cloths though. We're going to cloth diaper Little Man, but I plan on using the disposable that the hospital provides while there. Might just take 1-2 in the diaper bag for coming home...and that's still a might. I'll probably toss some snacks in too, but I'm not as worried about those.

It seems like such a long list, but we live 45 minutes from the hospital and I just hate the idea of needing something and not having it. Both DH and my mom will be there, and taking turns coming home to see DS, but after DH's stunt of pre-preg jeans and a tank in Dec I'm not so sure I trust him this time around! lol Luckily my mom has a little more sense, and SIL lives in the same town as the hospital, and she knows too after having 2 kids there.

I think I'm going to divide my bag into 2, 1 with stuff I'll want during the delivery (socks, toothbrush...in case of vomiting like last time...TMI sorry!, ponytails etc.) then the other can sit in the trunk and DH or my mom can get it from the car after the delivery. And the toiletries are all travel size so they don't take up as much room.

Let's hear from you ladies!

I haven't really thought about this, yet; but, I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone plans on bringing since I'm totally clueless as to what I'll need!

I'm planning a homebirth but I will pack a hospital bag anyway, just in case. I'd rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it!
Seeing as I hospital transferred last time it definitely came in handy having one around.

I'm a light packer as it is, so I stick to the bare essentials and if I need anything more then I have family stop at the house before coming to visit.

My Hospital Bag
Undies
Pajamas
Nursing tanks
Track pants
Shampoo, Conditioner, bodywash, deoderant, toothbrush, toothpaste... (it all came in a small travel kit, it was handy!)
Chapstick
Depends(adult diapers)/Pads
Slippers
Regular pillow
Nursing pillow
Nipple cream
Breast Pads
Cell phone/charger
Camera/charger

Stuff for Baby
Sleepers 3-4
Hat
Receiving Blankets
Vasoline
Diapers
Wipes
Cozy Blanket

This reminds me, I also need to pack my birth kit...

I was actually just going over this and making a list for myself last night... it looks a lot like yours... Smile Yesterday it suddenly started hitting me that delivery day is getting closer and closer, so I actually have a LIST of things that I need to do before baby comes, now!

I'm planning to make a list eventually Smile I'm sort of a master procrastinator so it'll probably be last minute shoving of stuff into a bag like last time Lol I like to think I work better under pressure but honestly I'm hoping baby just falls out some night when I'm in the bathtub and I can just avoid going to the hospital all together ROFL

Gives me something to think about... I really just thought about tossing some hygiene gear in a bag and going home clothes for myself and the babies. Other than my phone charger, I hadnt put much thought in it Smile

My lists is similar to those above. This time I am definitely bringing a pillow - the hospital pillow last time was awful and plasticy and the cover kept falling off so my face would be stuck to a sweaty plastic pillow!!! I will put it directly in wash when I get home.
Last time I has bag ready to go with list on top with the couple things dh was to pack last minute (like my toothbrush). Anyway - in his frantic state (I don't know why he was so frantic) he ripped the zipper off the bag and I never did get a toothbrush the entire time I was there which was disgusting. Smile

This is a good idea!
