Hypnobirthing

Well the lady we are supposed to do our hynobirthing classes with called yesterday (FINALLY). She said there where two other couples signed up for this month and since the couples knew each other, they just wanted it to be them in the class. I thought she was going to tell me I wasn't going to be able to do them this month and I was so bummed!! But then she says no! I'm upgraded you and your husband to private classes free of charge!! WOOHOO!!! We get to set our own day and time and since Ive got social anxieties this is a huge deal. I will really just be able to focus on this with my DH and I'm so ridiculously happy about it! YAYAYAYAYAY!!!

FREE! That's awesome! I've seen hypnobirthing mentioned quite a bit since joining this forum. Can you explain? I'm interested!

It is basically a method of staying calm and centered during labor to help manage your pain without medication. Think of it as teaching your body and mind to reach a level of meditation meant to help you channel and focus your labor. I've just herd nothing but great things about it from many moms who opted for a natural birth. Even if it just helps keep me calm, that alone is invaluable.

Wow, that's awesome. If I didn't have to have a repeat c-section I'd definitely be down for some hypnobirthing classes. When I had my epidural I begged them to tell me the truth about if it would make me all loopy and they swore it wouldn't... I don't remember half of my labor because it made me so "high". Sad

You can still benefit from hypnobirthing! I've heard from many moms that have ended up with c/s's after taking hypnobirthing classes or learning hypnobirthing and they've all said it was so worth it because it helped them stay calm and focused during their c/s.

Christine, that's awesome!! You'll have to let us know how your first lesson goes!! When is it??

Also, how much did the hypnobirthing class cost you Just curious... you don't have to say if you don't want to.

Class is a 5 week course (1 night a week, 3 hrs) for $300 which includes a book and also CDs to help keep you practicing since a lot of your success depends on repitition and really training your mind and body. She is calling us Friday to set up our day/time of choice and then we could start as early as next week I believe. I'm just so excited!! Even just to have 3 hours a week where the point is to relax! Sounds like heaven to me!

I figure even if our birth plan has to change for unforeseen reasons, this method will help keep me calm with whatever is thrown at me. I'm so motivated to keep my cool as much as I can. To give in to my body but keep my head level.

Excited!!!
