I may post this on the birthing naturally board as there may be more ladies doing this there, but I was just curious if any of you lovely August mamas are planning on going this route or if you have done it before? I laboured my first three kids all natural and never even thought to do hypnobirthing but after reading about it recently I really think I want to try it this time around. I haven't really heard from others who have done it though, what its like, if it helped, pros and cons, etc. Any thoughts on this?
I don't have a bunch of money to take classes on it, so I am just going to read The Mongan Method and try to practice the techniques on my own/with my DH. I think the concept behind it is great and if it really can help me mentally remove myself from the pain or help minimize the pain, etc. I am all for it. It will be interesting how well I can do what I will have practiced when I am in actual real labour, but I really want to do my best and I hope I can succeed and it helps with the pain management of the labour.
DH is skeptical and doesn't see how this can help, but I told him it has nothing to do with how loud I am or how quiet I am when labour hits, but it has to do with me internally managing the pain better than I have before. I can handle the labour pains pretty well until I hit transition, that is where it gets tough for me...but if hypnobirthing can help me with that part of it, then why not?
Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated!!
