Muscle Cramps

I just had the biggest back cramp come out of nowhere, literally! It was like the entire right side of my back/side just tensed right up... It hurt to sit down and to lay down. It was difficult to walk; but, it was the only thing I could do to get it out! It still hurts now and my lower back is starting to hurt now. Is this normal? I was thinking sciatica; but, I thought that was more of a nerve pain and was mainly located in your lower back and leg...

I just had a warm shower to see if that would help at all. It feels like it's released a bit; but, it is still one major muscle cramp down the entire right side of my back/side. It's so uncomfortable. It also feels like the baby has mainly positioned himself on my right side. It's much firmer than the left. Could that be the reason? I hope this is not something that's going to start until the end of this pregnancy! It's not very fun! haha I'm not sure how I am going to sleep since it hurts whichever way I'm positioned!

All my kids had a "side" they picked...I have horrid stretch marks from DS1...on one side...10#s of handsome dude on the left side...lol...left a bunch of zebra stripes...as my daughter calls them or great white shark attack...lol.
It probably isn't positional from the baby...but I could be wrong...
The weight of the baby could be straining your back...
The last 2 months are always painful/uncomfortable...but baby will be here soon!:0)
I do hope you get some relief. Call your dr. if the pain persists.

Cramps have two main sources usually - dehydration (drink lots of water), or lack of calcium magnesium. If you find you are getting cramps, a liquid Cal Mag supplement usually acts pretty quickly if that's the reason.

As for sciatica, go to the chiropractor and they'll fix you up and show you what stretches you can do to help that. It works wonders. It also helps baby get into a good position to help in labour.

Yeah, I'm usually really good at drinking a ton of water; but, I don't think I really did that day and I also might have done something while cleaning (it was hours before, though, and the spasm came out of no where)! The pain lingered into the night and I was pretty much fine when I woke up the next morning!
