Work

When has everyone decided to stop working? I was hoping to make it as close to my due date as possible; but, with the heat starting and the fatigue I've been experiencing, I think I'm going to go off three weeks before my EDD to make sure everything is ready to go and that I'm well rested! It's not ideal because I'll lose time with the baby after he's here; but, I don't want to push myself too much, either, and have to go off for medical reasons!

I'd do anything to have the time after baby arrives! Talk to your doctor or MW for ideas.

you have to do whats best for you! If your body can't take going into work anymore then it's time to start mat leave. Pushing yourself isn't going to solve anything.
As amazing as the extra time with baby is, you can't push yourself to keep going into work until your due date if you're *that* uncomfortable.

I'm fortunate, I saved all my vacation time so I have 3 weeks to take. My last day at work will be August 3, and I'll start my mat leave on my due date (Aug 24). So my last day of work is the day I turn 37 weeks.

I will be working until I can't work any more - delivery day...

In the US we don't have the luxury of 12 months off... *sigh*

Who has the luxury of 12 months off? Wow! That would be awesome if we had that here.

I am lucky and am not working currently outside of the home. I do in home daycare during the school year, but this summer I only have to watch the kids I tend here and there when their mom makes appointments since she has the summer off from work also. So I won't have to worry about taking off work. I am hoping I have the baby a week or two early so I can be recovered enough when school starts to start watching the kids again but if I am not recovered enough by then, I am sure the parents will be understanding and make something work until I feel up to it.

When I had DS, my first child, I was working outside of the home full time, and I was planning to work up until the Friday before my due date...which would have given me roughly 6 days at home before my due date. But I ended up having my son 6 days early and Iactually went into work and worked a full day the day I went into labour. I went to work on Wednesday, June 2nd, and went into labour that night...laboured at home all night, and all day the next day, then finally went to the hospital around 5:30 on the 3rd...Thursday. Laboured at the hospital for about 7.5 hours and had him right before 1am on June 4th. So needless to say, I didn't get to work up until the time I planned to...but my boss understood when I didn't show up for those last two days and I told her why. Smile

We really are sooo fortunate to have 12 months and I think most of us totally recognize that! I just cannot imagine how it feels to leave a 6-8 week baby at home to go back to work! It must be so hard!

It actually makes me sick that the US, the "most powerful country in the world", next-to-no maternity leave. You'd think they'd have the best!

With DD #1 I stopped one week before delivery. I was having so much pain, I couldn't take it...she came at 36 and 4.

Well with the military, I will be working until I give birth or if my doctor determines I need to be put on bedrest - which I doubt will happen LOL and I hope doesnt bc I have lots of stuff going on. I could take some leave but I would rather have the option to take it after if I need to. I would say if you are in a financial situation to do so, stop working when your body tells you you need to.

My last day of work is July 20th!! And believe me, I'm counting down the days! I get super tired of standing 6 hours straight M-F. By Wednesdays my feet hurt, then on Thursdays my legs start to hurt and by Friday, everything hurts!!!! I don't go back till Oct.1st and DH says I might be able to quit come January, which I'm really hoping for because I want to be home with our baby!

I will work right up until my c-section date or I go into labor. My water broke in the parking lot at work last time. I wanna save all my time for after the baby.
