    Default Awful Headache!

Yesterday afternoon I developed a headache. I finally decided to take 1/2 an extra strength tylenol in the evening. DS woke around 1230 and I still had the headache, so I took another 1/2 tab of tylenol. It's worse when I bend over and try to blow my nose. I think it's a sinus headache, because of the intense pressure when I bend over & try to blow my nose, but the wierd thing is I can breathe through my nose fine. TMI but occasionally there is some mucous but nothing like I would think that would cause such a headache! I also tried some plain saline spray for nose just to try to see if that would get up higher & maybe relieve things. I just looked online but am going to try a warm wash cloth over my nose/forehead and maybe steam my face over a hot bowl of water. IDK, but hope it gets better soon!

Have you tried a Neti Pot? I know you said your weren't that congested, but maybe you are and just don't know it yet? Whenever I have sinus issues I always use it an it's completely safe for pregnant women. It gives a lot of relief....

I get really bad "sinus" pressure (not sure that's what it is, but that's what it feels like) my entire pregnancies from pretty much Day 1 where it feels like my head is going to explode if I bend over. It's seriously so bizarre and annoying. I've looked into it and have read it could be due to the increase in blood volume, but like I said, I get it from very early on so I think there is something more to it. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone! Sorry about the headaches too, preggo headaches can be some of the most painful IMO!

This is what I was going to suggest that it might be. Ashley, blood volume starts increasing right away. that's why some women (like me this time!!!) start peeing non-stop also from the very beginning.

I would suggest drinking teas and warm/cool water with lemon to help flush your system and stay hydrated. also a drop of lavender oil on you temples has been helpful to some women.

    Feel better, Dawn!

The headache is better - thanks!!! But, I'm on my way to a full fledged cold I think it started at the top of my head- & is working it's way down My nose is congested/drippy, scratchy throat & moving down into my lungs. Same thing DS currently has I guess.
I hadn't thought of the netti pot - I might have to get one of those!!
    Hope this passes quickly!

I am there too, I am thinking it is all the dry air, we bought a warm vaporizer in the hopes that it will help. But really so long as it doesn't progress into a chest infection I will be happy.

Just make sure that if you do use a neti pot, you use filtered or distilled water, or boil the water first. There have been (very rare but preventable) cases of death by amoeba infection in the brain from neti pot use, because people used unfiltered tap water.

Darn it!!! I bought a neti pot on my way home from work & was just reading the instructions, realizing I need special water I'm not sure how well our fridge filter works & I don't think I'll take the time to boil the water first - I just want to go to bed....so I suppose I'll try that tomorrow after I can get to the store. I nearly filled my garbage can with kleenex at work today my nose is so obnoxious!!! I feel like crap and I think like a magic switch, the nausea is starting to settle in now that I'm 6 weeks! If only I could have a little wine with my whining Guess I'll just go to bed
