Cord blood banking

Hi All! I am due in Sept but thought I would ask y'all as well. I would love any insite on picking a cord blood banking company there seems to be so many and not sure where to even start. Has anyone ever banked cord blood? Thanks for your help!

I would ask your dr's office if they have any that they've worked with. I've never banked my own but planning on donating with this baby.

They don't have a preference; she gave me a list of the top 5 companies and that was all the info she had.

unless you know that you have illnesses in your family that can be cured by chord blood, I would look very carefully into the benefits and risks of banking or even donating cord blood before you decide to do it.
in order to harvest the cord blood, the dr is required to clamp and cut the cord immediately. when your baby is born, a percentage of her blood (I think a third, but my pg brain is blanking out!) is still in the placenta and makes it's way back to the baby in the 5 minutes after birth while the cord is still pumping. recent studies have proven just how important that blood is to your baby. the question is, how much can it help later on.
Please do your research before making this huge decision.
