    Default Infant car seats

If you use one, what brand/size are you planning to use?

I was looking over the weekend and tried a few out. Our first one was a Graco and we liked it but sold it because it would expire before we planned to have a use for it. It went up to 22 pounds but my kids outgrew it in length by about 8 months. Now there are ones that go to 30 or 35 pounds. I don't think I really want a bigger one though.

The one I thought I wanted was really hard to buckle! It was a baby trend one, and kind of tricky. Also the handle only clicked in two positions, which bothers me for some reason. The graco ones buckled well but the chest clip seemed much flimsier than our first seat.

I have the old Graco travel system stroller but I don't know if it will work with a new infant seat if I get the 22 pound one. So I really don't even know if we want a set or just the infant seat. And I really want a jogging stroller. Just so hard to decide, but this is the one thing that we HAVE to have pretty soon.

I'm kinda in the same boat. We had Graco before and liked it. I've looked at sooooo many online and I just get confused and when I'm in the store I get sticker shock! I don't see why they have to be so expensive when they only get used for 9-10 months. DD outgrew hers (height limits) at 9 months if I remember right.
We just ordered a new booster seat for DD so I hope she likes it.

I really like the chicco, but I think that we will probably go with the Graco based on price alone. We had a Graco last time, we would have reused it this time, but when I put it away I washed it first, and it must not have been completely dry because it molded. I'm also looking at the 22lb one again because once they are that weight who wants to carry them around in the carseat anymore, and we have our Roundabouts left over from last time. I agree though that it is so stressful to figure it out!

We got a free one with our pram. It's silver cross so is a great make.
Only goes up to 20lb I think... But we are happy to change later as it didn't cost anything.
We checked it out and it is a good one... So.
We're lucky for one less thing to worry about

I looked at a Chicco and it definitely seemed like it was well made. I didn't see a pattern I loved though, and some of them are quite expensive.

We had a Roundabout for the boys and really liked it. They RFed for 26 months and 2.5 years. We sold it because we wouldn't be able to use it again before it expired. I figure why pay more and still have to use a convertible seat, since we do extended RFing. And you are right, those carriers are SO heavy by 6 months or so.

Liz, you are lucky to have this decision done with

I ended up buying the carseat and stroller yesterday. I went to a bunch of consignment sales to try and find something for the baby, but everything just looked so dirt and/or overpriced for used.

I went to Discount Shopping at the Best Deals - NoBetterDeal.com and I was able to save a bunch of money ordering off from there.

This is the carseat. I ended up going with the 30lb just because on nobetterdeal it was around $70, and it was a gender neutral. (We still don't know what the baby is.)

Amazon.com: Graco SnugRide Classic Connect 30 LX Infant Car Seat, Metropolis: Baby

Then I found this stroller, also on nobetterdeal for around $80. I'm excited about the wheels because my other graco won't go off from tar very well without being a pain to push.

I feel good about getting at least one big purchase out of the way! We have to pretty much start over because we didn't know if we would have a third so we got rid of all of our stuff a couple of years ago.

That looks like a really nice set, I hope you will enjoy it.

I think I will have to go into BRU and just ask if my old stroller will be compatible with any of the new carseats. If it is, I might just get a carseat and save the stroller money for a jogger. That is what I really want but I know I need something smaller for school events and shopping.

I'm saving the old stroller for store use, but the new one will be much better for walks because the old one doesn't go offroad at all without being really hard to push.

I really wanted a BOB, but couldn't justify spending that kind of money when I don't even run. Hopefully this one will do the trick for 1/4 of the price.

What kind of stroller is your old one? I know that my old Graco stroller will work with all of the new Graco carseats, and I imagine that the other brands would probably work the same way. I can't remember how I searched it, but I found a page at some point in the last week that told which strollers were compatible with which carseats and which brands could be crossed and still work.

My old one is a Graco but it's from 2005. Still works well for walking on paved roads, but I was actually training myself to run a 5k when I got pregnant. I was up to a mile and a half of continuous jogging. I hope to pick it back up this fall because I was really enjoying it and the weight was coming off so well. I will have to try a search for that list.
