Default I have glucose intolerance..being treated like I have GD

ugh. I don't have an official GD diagnosis, but I have glucose intolerance which is a pre-diabetes sign. So, they are treating me like I have GD. So for the next 30 weeks, I have to watch a strict diet and poke my finger 4 times a day.

I also have to cancel all of my appointments with the midwives and see an OB...even during labor. NOT the way I wanted it to go this time.

I wanted a natural, med free birth..now I'm afraid that it won't be because I'm being over seen by an OB.

I know this has got to suck for you, but you can still totally have the birth you are wanting! Don't let them bully you into meds if you don't want them.

I agree. You can tell them you don't want drugs. Make sure to give the Ob your Birth plan in advance and they know you want all natural birth. Good luck and hope it goes smoothly for you.

I had a med free delivery in the hospital with my ob with my. First. It can be done. I'm sorry things are not going as you planned.

I nursed my twins for 2years and 2 weeks! A little sad to be all done now.

I'm sorry you need such close monitoring. I agree with the other ladies -- you should get the birth you want, no matter what -- OB or midwife. Don't back down!

My 2 births were both in the hospital and drug free

With my second I saw both the midwives and OBs at the practice with the intent of using the MW in labour. That changed when my water broke at 33 weeks and I was hospitalized. The first night, they did have me sign consent for the epidural and talk to the anesthesiologist in case I changed my mind.

I think because the OBs at my practice worked closely with MWs, the idea of going drug free was normal.

    Thanks for the encouragement ladies.

I finally was able to talk to the OB that I would be seeing and she is really nice and said that I can see her and the midwives and request a midwife during labor if I want to!

I still have to diet and monitor my blood sugar, but my worries of having a med free labor and delivery have gone away talking to her.
