We had Katie's 4 month appt today. It went pretty good. She weighed 14 lbs 13 ozs, in the 75%. She was 24 1/2 inches long, between 50% and 75%. Her head was 42 cm, in the 75%. She got her shots today too. She got a DTaP, Hib, Polio, PCV and a rotavirus oral solution. I hate the shots but I still think the benefits outweigh the risk.
The doctor seemed like of surprised that we were still 100% breastfeeding. She asked if we wanted to start cereal yet and I said no. She was fine with that and she that if we wanted to start before her 6 month appt to just call and they will give us some guidence about it.
Katie is 4 months and 5 days old today and she rolled over for the first time. I was so excited about it that I think I scared her when she did it. We have been practicing with by putting her arms under her and rolling her to show her how to do it. Well today she finally did it. Yea.
Katie is 4 months, 2 weeks and 5 days old. I can't believe how fast she is growing, it is really sad to me. I just want to enjoy everything and the days are flying by. She is a little rollie pollie now. She is still just rolling to one side but now we can't keep her on her tummy. She has also been sleeping so well. The last week she has been sleeping 10 hours at night, yea for us. Whoever said breastfed babies don't sleep as long never met Katie. We are still waiting until around 6 months to start solids. I am in no hurry to start, it is just so easy to breastfeed. She weighs like 15 pounds so she is definetly eating enough. She even has little wrist rolls now. She has been hopping all around in her jumperoo. She is starting to shreak when she is excited and happy. She is just the sweetest thing in the world.
Almost 5 months old already, wow. Katie is growing so fast. She loves to suck on her thumb and is starting to grab things with her hands and hold them. She is rolling over from her stomach to her back both ways, although we still have to help her by putting her arms underneth her. She is making all sorts of noises and has learned how to scream now. She is just the funniest thing in the world. She is sleeping for 10 hour stretches at night then eating and sleeping until 830 or 9 most mornings. We have not started solids yet and I want to wait until around 6 months. She is growing great. She has the cutest little fat rolls on her thighs and now around her wrist too. Its the only time fat rolls are cute, she better enjoy this time. Fred is such a good daddy and just loves her to pieces. They play every night when he gots home from work. She is a lot to take care of every day but I am really enjoying my time with her.
Katie is 5 and a half months old. She is getting so big. She is grabbing her toys and trying to cram them in her mouth. I am pretty sure her first two bottom teeth are on their way. She is drooling everywhere and she has been crabby at times. She is just screaming to hear herself, which is funny but she is loud. She is also chewing on everything. I can't believe how much she has changed in such a short time. I will be glad when it gets warm weather so we can go outside more.
Almost 6 months old. I can't believe how fast things are going. It seems like Katie is doing something new everyday now. She can pick up her toys and put them in her mouth. She picks them up and looks at them and drops them. She is smiling lots and laughing a lot. She is just the cutest thing in the world. She has been doing so well with badtime. We have been putting her in her crib awake around 8 and she sleeps until 6, wakes up and eats and then goes back to sleep until 730 or 8. I think sleeping for 10 hours straight is excellant. She is still sucking her thumb when she gets mad or sleepy. It is her biggest comfort. She has been grabbing our faces when we talk to her. I think she is getting pretty close to sitting up on her own and rolling from her back to her tummy. Her nap time has been getting easier for the most part, unless she is really tired or cranky. I think I have learned more. She was playing her little piano the other day, just banging on the keys. I am actually getting pretty excited about feeding her solids when she turns 6 months. We have almost made it to 6 months with nothing but breastmilk, not a drop of formula. I have to say I am very proud of myself.
Six months old today. Half a year old wow. What a big girl Katie is. We are going to start some rice cereal tonight when Fred gets home from work. I am so proud of myself for exclusively breastfeeding for six whole months without any formula at all. Yeah for me.
So Wednesday evening in honor of Katie turning six months old we started her on some rice cereal. She did very well with it and I think she really liked it. She seemed to do even better with it last night. What a big girl she is. We go for her six month doctor appt on Monday. She has also found her feet in the last few days. She is just the sweetest baby.
Katie had her 6 month check up yesterday. She weighted 17 lbs and 1 oz, in the 75%. Her length was 27 1/2 inches, 95% and head was 44cm, 90%. The doctor said she was very happy with how we were doing. She also got some shots, DTaP, her third Hepatitis B and PCV. She also got her last rotavirus oral solution.
We told her that we just started rice cereal last week and she gave us some guidence on how to procede with the rest of her foods. Overall she was very pleased with her growth and said she was very healthy.
She didn't even cry when they did her shots this time. I was surprised. She also took a 2 hour nap after the appt. She is such a big girl and I could not be happier.
So Katie is a little over 6 months old now and she is sitting up on her own now. She can sit up all by herself for a few minutes before she falls over. I can't believe how fast she is developing right before my eyes. She is doing great on the rice cereal, she seems to really like it. I was also sad yesterday because I went through her clothes and got out her summer clothes and took out all her winter clothes that are too small. She is just getting so big so fast.
