I gave Katie some whole milk mixed in her breastmilk in her sippy cup today. She did fine with. I didn't figure it would be a problem. She also figured out how to climb on the futon, what a monkey.
So I have been doing some sign language with Katie for months now. Mostly just "milk", "more", "food" and "drink". So we were shopping this morning and I was giving her graham crackers and she signed more to me. I was so excited. Then she did it again. Yay.
What a rough week we have had. Katie has been waking up very early and not napping very well. I don't know what the problem is. Maybe her teeth are bothering here. I hope this waking up early is just a phase, I am tired.
Katie has been holding things beside her ear and saying "yea yea" like she is talking on the phone. Its so cute.
Katie has been saying baby. She has also been doing something kind of funny when she eats. When she is just about done she will put a piece of food on the top of her sippy cup. I don't know why she does it but its funny. She is cruising better and better although she still prefers to crawl.
So I am stopping nursing Katie in the mornings. Today was day 2 of no nursing in the morning and it has not bothered her at all. I am still nursing her before bed though. I don't think either of us is ready to give that up.
Katie has had a fever since Friday morning. Poor thing I feel so bad for her. I have been giving her Tylenol and Motrin. Last night her little chin was shivering so bad. She was so clingy. She didn't sleep too well either. I think she is finally feeling a little better now. It is hard not knowing what is wrong with her. I don't know if it is just a virus or her teeth coming through. Her fever got to 102.1 last night.
She also learned to say Mimi this week.
So Katie is feeling better. She has been standing on her own for about a second. I think she will be walking really soon. She has been walking with this toy back and forth across the room. She is so funny when she climbs onto and off of the couch all by herself. She looks so proud. She is just growing and developing so fast.
Katie has been stacking blocks. She is just getting so big. Yesterday when I went to get her out of her crib after her nap I swear she looked taller to me. Her head is coming up higher on the crib railing when she is standing up. She is standing up by herself for a little longer now. She walks when we are holding her hands but then she goes right to her knees when we let go. I think she could walk if she wants to but she is happy crawling. She also babbles all the time. I mean she is really telling you something when she is talking. Its so cute.
Katie can point to her belly and her nose. I swear she is so smart. She has been having fun crawling around outside lately. I think we are going to get her a kitchen for Christmas. She has lots of fun pulling out everything under our cabinets so I think she will love to have her own.
So I think I have changed my mind about getting the kitchen for Christmas. I think Katie will be too little for it this year, maybe next year.
Katie has been taking some steps this week. When I put her a little bit away from me she will take about 3 steps to me and then fall forward. Last night she was walking between me and Fred. It probably will not be long now before she takes off.
Katie has been sick since Sunday. She ran a fever Sunday, Monday and some of Tuesday. Monday night was a rough night. Her skin was so hot. Her temp got up to 103.5. I felt so bad for her. We put her in a warm bath two times on Monday night to try to get her fever to break. We kept giving her Tylenol every 4 hours or so. All she was doing was sleeping. We took her to the doctor on Tuesday morning just to rule out an infection or anything else. She said it was just a virus because she ears and throat were clear. She said if the fever was still there on Friday to come back to see her. She said the fever could last up to 5 days. Tuesday afternoon the fever seemed to go away but Katie has still not felt well. She has hardly been playing. She has been taking very long naps and has been clingy. You can just tell she has not felt good. She also has not been eating very much but she is drinking ok so I am not too worried about that. She is finally today playing a little bit. She seems to get worn out easy. I guess it will take a while for her strenght to build back up.
Katie has been saying a few new words lately. She can say mimi, paw paw and ball. Ball sounds like ba most of the time. She is still not walking fully but is taking 4 or 5 steps at time then she starts to crawl. She is so funny, she just does the funniest things all the time. She talks all the time. She dances whenever she hears music, its so cute. She has been staying at my ILs on Saturday night for the last few weeks and she seems to have a great time. They love that girl so much. They moved her up to the toddler room at the YMCA. I think she is going through a bit of a separation phase right now so she whines when I leave her but she gets over it fast. When I go back to get her she is just playing and doesn't seem to want to leave.
Well Katie is 15 months old now and officially is walking. All this week she has been getting better and better with it. I am just so proud of her. She looks so proud of herself when she takes off. Last night we were at the ILs and she was walking in the kitchen and she fell and then for the first time she stood up all by herself without pulling up on something. It was nice that Fred and I both got to see that for the first time. Now she has been doing it everytime. Its like something just clicked and now she is everywhere. Its so cute to see her walking after seeing her crawl for the longest time. She is just getting so big so fast.
Katie got her seventh tooth in. The bottom second one on the left. She is getting so much better at walking now. She is just so cute walking around. You can tell she is just so proud of herself for it too. She has also learned to say night night. She loves to watch CMT too. She just loves music and dances everytime she hears it.
Well I am done breastfeeding. I nursed Katie on Christmas night and I think it was time for us to be done. I was preparing myself for it but it is still a little bitter sweet to me. It just means she is growing up so fast. I am really proud of myself for nursing her for 15 and a half months. When I first started I wasn't sure we would make it but we stuck to it. I am proud to say she has never had one drop of formula. I feel like I have given her the best start to life as I could. She went right to sleep last night so I know it didn't bother her to stop.
Katie got another tooth. The second bottom one on the right. That makes a total of 8 teeth for her.
Katie got yet another tooth in. Her first molar, its on the top right. I didn't even know it. She has been fine, not really cranky with it at all. What a big girl she is becoming.
Katie is getting her second molar in, the top left this time. She has been chewing on anything she can get her hands on.
Katie is getting yet another molar in. The bottom left is just poking through. Katie has been saying some new words lately. Seems like she repeating lots of words we say now. She has also been lying down on the floor and crying when she is mad. Oh good times.
Growing and growing. She is getting so big so fast. The time is flying by. Katie can say banana and Charlie now. Starting to eat pretty good with a spoon. She is such a daddy's girl too.
Katie's bottom right molar is coming through now. I can't believe my baby girl is 17 months old. Were did the time go. She has been feeling a little sick this week too. She threw up 3 times, which she has never done before. I think she is starting to feel better although she still is not eating as much as she normally does yet. She has also been real clingy but its been kinda nice to cuddle and hold her.
Katie has been very whiney lately. She is getting in all of her molar so I guess thats what it is. She was sick last week with a stomach bug so maybe she still is not feeling all better yet.
We have this book that we read to her every night before bed. Its called I Love You Stinky Face. She has been flipping through the pages by herself and will say "mama, mama" just like the book says. Its the sweetest thing.
Katie is saying more and more words. She can say doggie, Charlie, apple, banana, and of course she "talks" all the time. She is just getting so big. She is such a good eater too. She eats like no other toddler I have seen. She just crams it in. I am not sure where she puts it all. She loves carbs. She also loves her milk. I can't believe she is going to be 18 months so soon.
Almost 18 months old. I can't believe how fast Katie is growing. It is so bittersweet. She seems to just be exploding with words. She has been saying so many new words lately. Bean is her newest. She is getting a little hard to take out to eat though. She gets board so easy and screams. Last week we had a rough week, lots of whining. This week seems to be going better. I was very frustrated last week when I tried to have her picture taken and she would not cooperate at all. I guess I will just try to take some myself for her 18 month pics. She understands what we say to her almost all the time and she can follow directions. She has been having a blast playing outside for the last few days it has been warm. People keep asking when we are going to have another child but I am not ready. Katie is too high maintainence for that right now. Maybe in a year or two. I think this is such a fun age. She just loves to give us kisses and hugs.
Last night I took out the rocking chair from Katie's room. It has been forever since I used it but it still makes me a little sad. She is just growing up so fast. A friend of mine gave us a playhouse and picnic table that her boys outgrew. Katie just loves the playhouse.
Katie had her 18 month well baby visit today. She weighed 22 lbs 14 ozs(between 25 and 50%), 31 1/2 inches tall(50%) and her head was 48 cm (80%). She got 3 shots too. Her fourth DTaP, third Polio and first Hep A. She did not like the shots but only cried for a minute then she was fine. All and all everything went great.
This afternoon she had fun playing in the dirt in the backyard. She loves her new playhouse. She is also saying so many new words and is trying to repeat everything we say. She is such a smartie.
I can not believe my little baby is 19 months old already. She is such a big girl. Since the weather is nicer she has been loving playing outside. She is getting so independent with things too. She is eating with a fork and a spoon a lot better too.
Katie sat in a booster seat when we went out to eat for the first time today. I just can not believe how fast she is growing and developing. She is loving playing outside lately. I have been filling her pool and letting her play in it. She loves it. She loves to play in the dirt outside too. She is growing too fast.
20 months old, wow. Katie is talking a ton lately. She is repeating everything we say. She has discovered Elmo too. I got her this DVD she can watch in the truck. Everytime we get in she start saying Elmo Elmo, before I even have her straped in. Last week she played in a mud hole at the park. She had a blast and had to ride home in just her diaper. I can't believe how fast she is growing. Her hair is getting longer too. She has been loving to take a bath lately. Its hard to believe that she is 20 months old.
21 months old. I can not believe I am going to have a 2 year old soon. Katie has been talking tons lately and can repeat everything we say. She has also turned into a climber. She is getting into everything. We have been playing in lots of water lately since it has been so hot. We have been having lots of playdates with all of our friends too.
We just got back from the beach a few days ago. It was so sweet to see Katie play in the sand and the ocean. She loved finding seashells too. I just can not get over how big she is becoming. They also moved her to the preschool room at the YMCA form the toddler room. Normally they don't move them until they are 2 but the teachers thought that she was ready. Kind of makes me sad to see her grow up so fast.
Katie is getting so big. She has been cranky the last few days too. She has been loving us reading her books lately too. She has been watching SpongeBob lately too.
So we have be introducing the potty to Katie for a few weeks now. She will just sit on it every now and again. The last few days she has been sitting on it for a few minutes at a time but no luck in going so far. She has also been pulling off her diaper in the mornings and today at nap time she was whining a bit so I go in to see what the problem was and she had pulled off her diaper and pooped and peed in the crib. Luckly she was not playing with it. Just a pile of poop sitting there. I am not sure how to get her to keep her diaper on.
I still can not believe how much she is talking now. She can repeat almost every word you say to her. She is growing so much taller too. Tall and slender.
I was just reading through this journal and I can not believe the transformation that happens before your eyes when you have a baby. The fact that Katie can almost run and climbs on everything, and she loves to color is just so wonderful. She can communicate her needs and wants to us for the most part. I just love when she gives me hugs and kisses. She can say so many words and can repeat anything you ask her too. She can point out every body part and loves her baby dolls. She has just become this wonderful little human and I feel blessed that I get to watch her grow and learn. She has been playing outside with her sand box and sidewalk chalk. She loves Spongebob. I have been starting to plan her birthday party. We are going to have an Elmo theme. I made some invitations and they turned out great. I hope she knows how much we love her.
Katie got the left bottom eye tooth on Thursday then the right one came on Saturday. She is talking in sentences more and more, linking the words together so well. I can not believe that in 2 weeks she will be 2 years old. She is so big.
Katie got her top right eye tooth 3 days ago. I can't believe all those teeth are coming all at once. We are planning a birthday party for Sunday. I am still in shock that my little baby is going to be 2. We are having a cook out and I am making Elmo cupcakes too.
2 years old today. Where o where did my little baby go? Katie got yet another tooth today, her top left eye tooth. We should be done for a while with teeth, her 2 year molars should be the next to come in. I still can not believe that Katie is 2 years old, I don't feel as sad about it as I was last year. She is just so grown and smart. Talking in sentences and follows directions. She is also such a big helper. She likes to water my plants outside, she helps to pick up her toys. She loves to brush her own teeth too. I am just amazed at all the things she can do on her own. She has grown up so much in the last few months, becoming so much more independent. I am very excited about her party tomorrow, it should be fun. I just want Katie to know how much I love her and I want nothing but the best for her in her life.
We had Katie's birthday party last Sunday, it was a big hit. We just had a cook out with the family, Katie had a fun time. She actually blew out her candles on the cake, I was so proud. I made Elmo cupcakes too, they turned out really cute. She got a bunch of new toys and clothes. She is one lucky girl.
I still can not get over Katie being 2 years old. She is getting so smart. It amazes me the things that she knows. She can say some letters, she says a b c e... and can finish off with x y z. She knows some numbers, she says 1 2 3 5. Something about that fourth thing she can't get. When I take her to the YMCA they do story time and she just sits right down with the rest of the kids and listens to the story. She is such a big girl. She goes tomorrow for her 2 year check up.
I took Katie to her 2 year check up this morning. She weighed 24 lbs (25%), 33 inches tall (50%), and her head was 49cm (90%). She has is long and lean with a big head. She also got 2 shots, the last Hib and Hep A. The doctor said she was done now until she was 4 with shots. I declined to get her a flu shot also.
Katie is learning more and more words, she amazes me everyday. Her skin has been looking better lately too. I hope maybe she is finally outgrowing the eczema. She has been playing a lot with her kitchen lately, she loves to play with all the food.
Katie can count all the way to 14. We have been singing all kinds of songs lately too. She loves the wheels on the bus and ring around the roses songs. I just can not get over how smart she is. She just picks up on stuff so fast. She knows sooo many animal names and its so much easier to communicate with her now. She had a great time when we went to the pumpkin patch. Right when I get her up in the morning she tells me she wants breakfast, she also tells me she wants muffins and bananas, every morning. She knows she gets to go and play when we go to the Y. She knows when we are driving and we get close to the house that we are going home. She say goodbye to the water when she gets out of the tub. She always tells Charlie goodbye see you later when we leave the house, she loves to give him a bone too. Just so smart.
Growing up so fast. I love that Katie can talk so well, it makes it so easy to communicate with her. Of course she still gets mad when she does not get her way but thats nothing new. We went to see Sesame Street Live a while ago and she had a blast. She loved dancing to the music and waving to all the characters. When she wants us to hold her she comes up to us and say hold you. Its so cute.
Yesterday Katie peed on the potty for the very first time. She was dry before her nap and then she still was when she got up so I put her on the potty. She sat there for a little while whining and then she finally went. I was so proud of her. We gave her a sticker. I still don't think she actually understands it but it is a start.
So Katie has used the potty a few more times so we are on our way. I can not get over how smart this child is. Speaking in whole sentences, she just knows so much stuff. She is such a big helper too. She helps me clean and put away dishes. She loves to help clear the dinner dishes too. She is really into playing with little action figures, she loves her Dora and Diego the most. She also has been singing her alphabet everywhere we go. She has these sunglasses that she wears all the time, its so cute. I can't believe my little baby is growing up so fast.
Yesterday we moved Katie to her big girl room. We made her crib into a toddler bed and she slept in there for the first time. What a big girl. She did cry for a few minutes and then she went to sleep. We checked in on her before we went to bed and she was so cute sleeping in her big girl room.
Katie is doing so well sleeping in her toddler bed. I tell everyone that she is not speaking in sentences, she is speaking in paragraphs. She is singing songs and just is so smart. The weather has been nice so we have been outside a lot. She loves blowing bubbles and helping me water the plants.
I recently lost my step father to an accident. He sure did love Katie and she loved him too. That was her Pop pop. He would take her out on the golf cart whenever we would go over to Mimi's house to visit. They would go and feed the dogs and she would always ask whats Pop pop doing. He would also give her ice cream anytime she wanted it. She would follow him all around the house and they just loved each other. I hate that she will probably not remember him and how much he loved her.
Katie has been getting her 2 year molars in recently. She got her left top 3 weeks ago and the bottom left just popped through. I can't believe how much she is growing and maturing. She can sing the whole Twinkle Twinkle Little Star song. She just gets things after you show her one time. We have been very busy playing outside and she has been spending lots of time with all her grandparents and her cousin, Bella. Her and Bella have the best time together.
