    Default Little Man Sam

Thanks for peeking at my baby journal.
THis is my first baby & he is now 3 months old. A buddy on my birth board rec'd this thread to help track our thoughts & so we can reflect & remember them!
I hope I am good at refreshing this!

    ----------
    My birth story--------
Sunday night, (8-19) I went to the hospital for my planned induction. The plan was to use cervadil (since I was just 1.5cm dilated), use the cervadil (cervical softening agent) for 12 hours. I got the cervadil at 10pm at 4 am I woke up in mega-momma contractions. (rarely happens with cervadil). I sat on the birth ball & thought of a happy place during the contractions and was able to breathe through them until about 6am. When I requested the epidural. I got the epidural 4 hours LATER!! I was 9 CM & it only worked on my L side! I was still in a lot of pain. By the time he got the epidural to work on both sides, it was literally about 30 minutes before pushing! (but I would do it all over!).
Anyways, when it came time to push, DH got suited up, to catch the baby! we used the big mirror, I pushed for close for 2 hours (it was pretty long, but I really wanted to do it without pitocin, so it was worth it!).
I watched the whole thing through the mirror, watched DH be the first to put his hands on our little boy. It was so beautiful. Then they passed him up to me for about 20 minutes of skin to skin. I was so happy, it was the most amazing experience of my life. In fact, just writing about it, I want to cry! It was so amazing! I am so in love with my little Sammy

today--Sammy is about 3.5 months & I had to work part-time today. So after I got home, I took him to the craft store to buy a Christmas ornament, where we could put his handprint in. I decided that a new tradition of ours, as our family grows, each yr our LOs will make an ornament for the tree.

He loves to go to the store (we don't go too often, like once a week or so) & he gets so entranced looking at the shelves if there are bright colorful things on them.
He has a lumberjack hat (baby gap winter hat) & he looks too damn cute with it on. I am just picturing his cute little cheeks, big eyes looking up at the shelves with his funny little red lumberjack winter hat on.

He is taking a nap right now still in his car seat, I dressed him up today in little overalls & plaid shirt *when he is at home w/ our nanny he just wears his little footie outfits, so of course momma has to dress him up cute when she is home iwth him. I am going to take him out of the carseat & let him sleep on my lap---probably not the best thing for him, b/c he is soo sound asleep right now, but I miss him at work & love to hold him. He is getting to the stage, where he would rather me walk around vs just letting me rock him, so I am going to take advantage of it.

maybe I will keep up w/ the blogs on the weekends. We just got back from taking a walk. Our big happy family. Me, DH, Sam & our dog. It was freaking cold out. I think it has to be in the 30s. I had him in the Bjorn, with his winter hat on & then I was wearing DHs winter coat, so I could zip us both up. He did seem snuggly warm in there, since he was against my chest. He fell asleep during the nap & now he is upstairs in his crib.

Someday I will let him sleep in that crib longer than just naptimes, but for now, I just can't do it! He isn't sleepign through the nights yet. He wakes up after 3-4 hrs of sleep, then eats, falls right back to sleep, then he is up after 2-3 hrs & from then on it's every 2 hrs & that is it. He will keep sleeping, but using those intervals. So, for that reason, I like him in our room, but in his pack n play. I do also like the safety of having him in our room too, I just feel more comfortable with it. So for now, he will stay there!
I just ordered our Christmas cards yesterday & finished our Christmas calendar for the grandparents. I can't wait to get them!

well I just put Sammy to bed, so I have a few minutes b4 I have to shower & get ready for tomorrow. But tomorrow is Tuesday, hooray, I have a full day off.
I love my full days with him. It makes me kind of regret picking up extra hours this month. Since it is Dec & holidays, I felt kind of obligated to take the hours since they were offered, but tonight, while snuggling with DS & watching his cute little face...it made me think, nothing is more important than being with him. So I think after December, I was going to start an extra full day of work, but I think I will only do one 1/2 day of work.

I am still nursing DS to sleep. I bring him on our bed & I read him a few books. he seems to like it when I read the Sandra Boynton books- Moo Baa Laa & Red Hat Green Hat, i admit that I like to read them too! I can add funny sounds to some of the words---like OOPS, in the Red Hat Green Hat & DS seems to giggle or smile whenever I say that.
It just amazes me how every day I seem to notice that he is more alert.

We bought a video monitor & I am downstairs typing & looking up at the monitor. He is wearing his "cute as a mouse" white fleece PJs & he looks so cuddly!

well that's all for tonight--time to get ready for bed myself

Sam is taking a nap right now. We bought the video monitor which I really love & feel much better about him sleeping in his crib. Although, i still usually give in & have him stay in our room in the PnP. I am getting a little more comfortable with the though every day though...

he has a cold today & I can tell he just doesn't feel very good. His ezcema is flared up & I lathered him up in the hydrocortisone cream, so hopefully that will make him feel better. I hate it when I see him so itchy & there is nothing that I can do about it...sigh....

we took him to the mall to see Santa yesterday, but the line was probably 2 hrs long so we decided to wait! I will just take him by myself on Tues, i wanted DH to come, but it wasn't worth the wait & he said he is fine to just look at the pix

I took Sammy Christmas shopping yesterday & wore him in the Bjorn, he did really well & loved looking at all the shelves & ppl. But I am not taking him out today since he isn't feeling well. Last night we went to his nanny's birthday party. It was pretty neat b/c all the families she has ever nannied for showed up, even from 17 yrs ago.

    gotta run!

took Sammy to see Santa today. Waited only 30 minutes in this line. The santa was so adorable, with a real beard, he looked magical!
DS did a half of a grin for the camera, but it was adorable, he was looking like WTH is going on? Priceless expressions!

He finally fell asleep! He has been losing hair, my poor little balding Sammy! He almost has a comb over with long hair in the back of the head & top of the head but the front of the head is what is balding! oh well, I know it's common but I didn't realize how much I liked his hair until now that it is going away!
Since he has ezcema, I had a hard time lotioning his scalp w/o it looking like he had gel/grease in his hair, so at least I can lotion up his scalp now & hopefully in a few months once the weather gets more humid, the dryness will stop.

that is my only worry with DS. So I should feel very blessed that all I have to worry about is his dry skin. I feel so lucky & blessed to have such an adorable little boy!
love you Sammy boy! good night

    today is Friday Dec 14.
we had a rough day yesterday poor Sammy boy broke out with eczema rash head to toe, I almost took him to the hospital last night. but he seemed to do ok after I bathed him & put steroid cream all over him.
the weather here is changing quite a bit, it's getting cold & I know this weather really bothers his skin.
he has been in a good mood though, so I shouldn't be worried I guess.

He is now wearing size 9 months for all his clothes. I can't believe how fast he is growing! I need to go through his clothes again & put away all his 6 month outfits. I saw a 1 month old when I was at a restaurant for lunch & he looked soo teeny tiny, it almost makes me forget how small he was!

Sammy is taking a nap right now. He is in his crib & I have the video monitor on. He is sleeping sucking his thumb. He started sucking it about 1 week ago, it is really cute, but I just hope he breaks the habit when he is a toddler, I don't mind it now & maybe it is just a phase.
He is wearing his snowmen sleeper fleecy pjs, he is soo cute & his hair is starting to grow back. the top of his head got really thin & just the past few days it almost seems an inch long! amazing how fast it grows!
Sam has now been through 2 snow blizzards, I have yet to take him outside & take pix! He has a snowsuit size 6-9 mos & I think he will be too big for it! Can;t believe it!

    Sat. continued...

I was a little nostalgic tonight, I went through the boxes of packed clothes & I found his coming home outfit & it was soo tiny! It is a little sad, that it is hard to imagine them so tiny again, but nonetheless, I love him so much & am having so much fun with him as he is getting bigger!

wow, he has already had his first Christmas. We went to ILs for 5 days it was a little tough, I think being out of his routine, teething, sleeping in new place, loud yappy dogs, so he was kinda fussy, but overall we had a great time.

so cute to have him dressed up in his Christmas outfits & red hat! I opened gifts w/ him on my lap & he would try to eat the paper, so we have some cute pix! his cousin is almost 2 & kept wanting to "kiss the baby" it was really cute & something I am sure when they are 10 & 8, we will laugh about later on!

He is snoozing on my bed right now.
I hope I am not creating a monster, he sleeps pretty good, but he falls asleep right after BF & since I have been working more lately, I miss my cuddle & holding time with him. So I will sometimes nurse him then let him sleep next to me just so I can cuddle him.
    like right now.....
