Ok, so Jacob was VERY impressive today! He sat up by himself for at least 15 minutes and he was balancing himself so he wouldnt fall over!!!!!!!!! How cool. I really look forward to him crawling! I think that alot of his fussiness will be eliminated when he can "travel". He also has really found his voice lately. He will talk all the time and he has been experimenting with volume. It's actually remarkable to see him learning how language gets people's attention. DH and I were having a conversation and Jacob must have felt left out because he let out a loud noise GAAAAAAAAAAAAA to get our attention, we stopped talking turned to him and he just smiled and giggled! He is a smarty!
Update on moving, we finally started packing Monday and we are almost done! YAAAAY! The movers come a day early on Sunday so we only have 1 day and a half left to pack! We can do it!!! I work best under pressure! I'm SOOOOO excited and my mom is just so thrilled. YAYAYAYAYAYA!
YAAAAAY, the packing was finished, the movers came on Sunday and we leave in 10 hours! GOODBYE NY, HELLO FLORIDA! I'm so excited to see my Mom! She hasnt seen Jake since he was first born! I'm just giddy with excitement. The trip should be exciting, I'm going to take lots of pictures!
We lived out of suitcases for a few days. It was kind of fun, like camping out but with indoor plumbing! We got up bright and early on Wednesday morning and DH packed the car while I got Jake ready. It would have been one of those "wow I'm so happy he slept late" mornings but I had to wake him up and get him ready. We left on time which was really impressive. We drove for about 5 hours, stopping only once for DH to pee on the side of the highway. Jacob was really good for most of the ride. I jumped in the back with him to feed him and to keep him company. Who needs toys when you have a funny Mom?! We got to Amtrak in VA early so we hung out in the train station.
Then we boarded the train. Now, I tought a roomette meant alot more space than what I discovered! It was a closet, not even one of those walk in kind, but literally a closet! I was annoyed at first, but then I realized that it was WAY better than coach! But this was my face before I came to terms with the sapce issue....
We made the best of it. The dinner was phenominal, steak, shrimp, wine. It was too bad that AF was visiting because DH and I were feeling randy by the time the meal was over! Our truck was the last to get off the train which was really frustrating. We drove another 2 hours and voila we arrived! My mom was so excited and I was so exhausted. The movers arrived the next day and we moved stuff in to storage and to Moms house. The great part was the entire time Jacob was smiling and laughing and just havin the best time! His room is just so wonderful and his grandma got him some cool toys. He loves his new excersaucer. and his new chair for the bathtub
It's a surreal experience to live in a place that is hot during christmas and where people actually bring you cookies! People walk by and say "hello", it's so GREAT! I dont have to listen to people outside yelling or fighting, it's peaceful and quiet. I dont have to worry about the quality of the air my son breathes or the safety of my family here as much as I did in NY, it's a welcome change. I havent yet found my rythm, but Jacob has his. We started him on squash and he loves it!
He is growing up and he is learning new things each day, it's so great! I just adore his personality. He is funny and charming and just a pleasure to be around!
DH is going to get a job and give me a chance to stay at home. I'm hoping that it works out. The only thing that will make this better is finally getting our own place. Living with my mom will only last so long before I get annoyed! But I'm thankful that she gave us this chance to begin a new improved life.
So we get to FL Thursday morning. Jacob was so fantastic, he didnt sleep that well, but my little baby was still in a great mood in the morning. What a great kid!
Jacob sat in his carriage the "big boy" way! It was so great to see him see the world in an entirely new way. DH and I went to an indoor flea market and Jacob was smiling and flirting with everyone. People were stopping us to talk to him! His smile makes so many people happy! He has been sitting up really well on his own and he has been holding his bottle. It's just so cool to see his progression!!!
Jacob has been eating up a storm. We tried pears and sweet potatoes. But so far his favorite is squash, prepared by grandma. He also loves cereal with bananas.
The other day we had to go buy orajel. Jake has been teething for a while, but with just minor symptoms, drooling ear pulling. But he was screaming his head off in pain until we put the orajel on. We also got him these weird things that you can put frozen fruit or an ice cube in. It's like a net popcicle. He likes it. Luckily his symptoms have subsided for now. He is back to a GREAT sleep schedule which makes me so happy!
So, we had a photo shoot today with Jake's monkey. My son is too cute for words!
Happy New Year! What a difference a year makes! Last year I spent the night rubbing my belly imagining what motherhood would be like. I also spent the night irritated because I wanted a coctail and because DH spent the night playig XBox.
This year I spent the night singing my beautiful baby boy to sleep. I had a few drinks and got tipsy, and I was also irritated becaue DH was playing XBox. The more things change the more they stay the same I guess.
Motherhood has been so far better than I ever expected it to be. I waited a long time for Jacob and it was well worth the wait! He is amazing. he is just such a happy person. he is always laughing and smiling, it's just so fantastic. He is so easily pleased and easygoing. I couldnt have asked for a better baby!!!
This year I hope to become a more patient person, lose some weight, gain some understanding and buy my first home. I hope to start a hobby and make new friends. I hope to talk less and listen more. I hope to make a difference in someone's life.
By the way...Jake LOVES peas!!!! Here are some new pics!
So because we moved and because neither me or DH is working yet I decided to apply for WIC. In NY I didnt get WIC because I made too much money, but here I can get it so why not?
We had to send about 2 hours in the office today. I really saw Jacob's personality shine through. He was flirting with everyone. Batting his big eyelashes and pretending to be shy only to then flash a big gummy grin. What a ladies man! LOL! He didnt fuss once, what a great baby! They weighed him and he gained 2 pounds in a month he is now 20 pounds!! My goodness, what a big baby!!!!
Jacob has been on a new sleep schedule for the past few nights. I dont know why, maybe because he's so hungry all the time it seems. He has been a bit cranky lately and I think it's because he is teething. He is making all new noises lately. He loves having conversations with anyone in ear shot. His smile still lights up my world.
I miss NY. I feel homesick and in a funk. Very negative and kind of b****y...actually very b****y. I think it's a combination of not working, having no money, DH's frustration about not having money, my mother annoying me, not being in my own space. Sometimes I think DH and I should have planned this huge move better. We may have been impulsive about the decision to come here without jobs. Sometimes I HATE this place so much! But then other times I am so thankful to be here and thankful that my mom has been so supportive and so giving. She loves us and she loves Jacob so much. She gets up in the morning and goes right to his room to see if he is awake. I think she secretly wakes him up just so that she can spend alone time with him. It's really special to see them together. He adores her.
Maybe I'm just PMs'ing, maybe I need to POAS!!!!
Jacob is now sitting up by himself! He has learned all types of new noises and it's so funny to hear him talk. he has 2 levels loud and louder! He really enjoys to hear himself talk! I am enjoying him so much. He loves to "sing" with me and he cracks up when I dance around with him. He is such a happy baby! He is cutting a tooth so he has been in some pain at night. We have been using orajel for babies and that seems to help. But, sometimes he just screams and it breaks my heart. I think he is an amazing person!
In my new quest to be more social I went on a playdate on Friday. We went to the Zoo. It was so much fun! I met 2 girls who I really liked and I plan on making plans to meet up with them soon! Tomorrow I will go walking with a girl from the neighborhood which is great because I have to lose weight big time! Then next Sat. I am going to a park with a few more people. It's really nice to make new acqauntances, and to have Jacob interact with other children. I'm really excited about my new social life here!
DH got a job!!!!!!!! I'm so porud of him because it usually takes at least a few months to get a job in a new state. But it only took him 3 weeks!!! It may not be his dream job but it's a stepping stone. It came at the right time too, we had no more income and no more money left. I'm really so happy that I get to be a SAHM now. It may not be a permanent situation depending on finances but at least I have some time to stay home with Jacob. I hope DH likes his new job and doesnt feel resentful towards me for not bringing home a paycheck too.
We need to get our own place asap. My mom is driving me nuts! She is so great but because we are so similar we are at eachothers' throats constantly. I try to keep my mouth shut because I know she means well and she is so great with Jacob but she does things that drive me up the wall!!! One step at a time, is my new motto!
I just LOVE Jacob soo much! Not just because he is my kid and of ciurse EVERY parent thinks their child in fantastic but Jacob is truly a really fun person! I take him everywhere and he is just so well behaved. He never fusses in the car or when we are ina store. We went shopping the other day and because I had nothing else to do I took my time. Well, Jacob had so much fun "talking" to people and looking aorund. he really likes sitting in the store shopping carts (the big boy way). Jacob also drank from a sippy cup for the very first time yesterday!! He got the hang of it right away. It was so cool to see him hold his own cup and drink from a straw! His grandmother bought him a toy cell phone and he has been obsessed with it for a few days now. It's so interesting to see which toys he prefers, and amazing that he has such a strong opinion already!
I decided to join a playgroup insted of running one, it was way too much stree organizing a group because I'm not familiar with the area. On Friday we are going to a magic show (cool) and then next week there is a Valentines Day party! I'm hoping that the other moms are nice.
DH is going into his 2nd week at is new job.THANK GOD he got one because we literallly had NO money to our name! He says he is enjoying his new position and he says he likes working instead of being a SAHD. I'm glad because hosenstly, I LOVE staying home with Jacob. At this point I have no interest in going back to work. That may change but for right now I'm happy. I did feel a little guilty at first but I spoke to DH and he made me feel better. I love being a SAHM!!! I have been feeling so domesticated! I cook every night (which is something I have always enjoyed) and I take care of Jake and I clean and I do laundry and I run errands and I feel fantastic!!! I will probably get the itch to work again but I'm so grateful that at least for right now I have the option to stay home!
Here are some new Jake pics!!
I'm so proud of my son. He has been sitting up on his own for a while without falling over. He eats anything placed in front of him. He basically STTN and takes long naps. He talks alot and laughs all the time. He is my heart. But yesterday & today Jacob has decided to test my patience!
Jacob has been doing the army crawl for about 2 weeks now (right before he turned 6 months). It has been so cute to see, and I was so excited to see him mobile. But, Jacob likes to crawl towards the wires for the computer over and over and over again. I was exhausted by the time we finished our tummy time. Then Jake decided to spit food in my face. That was fun! Today he spit sweet potatos all over me. I was not happy.
Then he refused to take a nap. I knew he was tired but every time I put him down he would scream. Not the regular cry but SCREAMING. So no afternoon nap which meant he was super cranky for the rest of the day. Needless to say I need a break. But DH is sick so he is not allowed to touch Jake. My mom laughs at all of Jake's spitting tricks even though I tell her not to and he does not abide by his schedule so I don't want her to take care of him. It all comes down to me.
I love Jacob so much, but wow, he exhausts me sometimes! He has started walking in his walker. It's so cute he follows me around all day! How adorable is that!!
