He's home!! He's home!! :D :D It was sooo much fun that we got to go in there and surprise him! He came walking out with such a serious expression on his face, and didn't even look into the crowd of waiting families. The guy he was with saw me and smiled, but Tim was totally oblivious! So I walked up to him and stood in front of him, and he looked at me with this blank stare. And then suddenly his whole face broke into a smile and he said, "Heyyy!!! What are you guys doing here??" :D It was totally worth it, even though Nick was cranky, and his plane was 40 minutes late! Now for some pictures of Daddy and his little boy:
So happy to be holding his son in our home!

Nick turned two months old on December 17th, 2007! :D I just cannot believe my little guy is getting so big already!! He is doing so much new stuff everyday, I almost cannot keep up with him. :) Here are some of his recent milestones:
- Smiles at us when we smile at him, or when he sees us after a period of long absence (like when he's sleeping and then wakes up)
- Tracks us around the room
- Stands up on both feet with very little support from us under the arms!
- Holds his head up about 85% of the time
- Increasingly verbal with his coos and "aah" sounds
- More and more alert, happy time everyday, especially after he wakes up from his afternoon nap
- Sucks on his thumb and fist
- Loves to watch new things that move, like toys, animals, etc.
- Does not like to be separated from Mommy (awww!)
I LOVE this little boy so much, it's just astounding to me. I had no idea how much and how strong it would get! He and I have such an amazing connection - we intuitively know how the other is feeling. He reflects my moods much of the time, and he needs me for comfort more than anyone else (poor Dad!). He had his 2-month appointment on the 17th, and he now weighs 10 lbs, 3 oz and is 22 and 7/8ths inches long. He also got his shots at that appointment. He screamed, and I cried - it was awful! I picked him up and held him and he stopped crying almost immediately. It was soooo sad, because as soon as I picked him up, he looked at me and stuck his lip out and made a "Maaaa" sound like he was saying, "Mama, help me!" It broke my heart (and the nurses' hearts, too, they both felt horrible when he did that!). I cried longer than he did, LOL. I hate that we have to go back and do that again in two more months, but I know it's for the best. *Sigh* I hate seeing him unhappy!
Okay, now for a happier topic - picture time! :D

A letter to my baby son on his first Christmas:
My dearest Nick,
Merry Christmas! I almost cannot believe that this year, our house will be filled with the joy and laughter that comes with having a child in your home on Christmas day. But then all I have to do is look over at you - at your sweet, content, sleeping face and know that I really AM this blessed. For the longest time, I prayed and hoped for a sweet baby to love. Little did I know that my prayers would be answered in the biggest way. I could never have dared hope for a more beautiful child than you. You radiate warmth and love from your every pore! You are the most gentle-natured, mild-mannered baby I have ever seen. I don't know what your father and I did to deserve you, but we're not complaining. :) Just looking at you makes my heart sing with joy. I love your Dad so much, and to know that we created such a perfect little being together - the feeling is at best indescribable. You are my heart and soul, my pride and joy. I will always, always love you, protect you and nurture you. As long as I am alive, you never have to worry about having a place to go where you can hide away from the world, where you can be without judgment. Thank you for giving me the greatest gift I have ever received - the gift of motherhood.
Love you always,
Mom
