    Default Princess Leia

    I just found this board.

My little girl is Leia, she was born on July 5 2008 weighing 7lbs and 5oz. I was induced at 8am and had her by 3.21pm.... a quick but painful labour.

Whilst in hospital she had a bit of a choking episode, however they dismissed this as mucus and sent us home 2 days later. Within a few hours of being home, she started choking and we had to dash back to A&E. I can't remember exactly how many times it happened or what days it happened but within a week we were in and out of the hospital constantly. Eventually we were admitted the weekend after her birth. So many tests were done on her, it was so upsetting and scary to see her in the state she was.... I mean, she was literally not breathing and a couple of times I thought she was going to die.
The Drs conclusion was that she had acid reflux and these 'episodes' carried on until she was 3 months old and then stopped suddenly. What a relief.

Since then, she has been the greatest baby I could've asked for. She sleeps through the night, 7 until 7 and she does nothing but laugh and dance and sing. I love her so so incredibly much

I couldn't believe how quickly her 1st birthday came round. We celebrated with a bouncy castle and a bbq at my Mums, it was fab.

Where we're at now. Well, she is now walking, she started this the week of Aug 10th when I was off work on holiday. I was thrilled that I didn't miss her first steps! She literally runs around in cirlces now and she loves to carry her toys around with her, but of course gets very stressed out when they're too heavy and she topples over haha.

She's eating pretty much everything that we do, although I cannot drop her formula yet. She just will not take to normal milk. She takes little sips and pulls the funniest face, like she's tasting something so sour.

I am looking forward to her second Christmas as she'll be much more aware of what is going on, rather than last year when she was just plonked in her bumbo seat hehe.

That's all for now anyway.... Will update soon.

    xx

I bought Leia her first pair of proper shoes on Sunday. They are so cute. Purpley colour with flashy lights on the soles when she walks. She was walking like she had blocks of cement on her feet at first though bless her.

She is so so clever too. She knows exactly what I'm saying to her. If I ask her to pick something up of the floor and give it to me she will, if I ask her to close the front room door she will. If she goes near the cupboards in the kitchen, she looks at me first as she knows she's not supposed to, then she'll open it and close it and clap her hands haha.

When she's tired, she'll sit up on my lap and if she has her dummy in her mouth but her blanky is on the floor, she'll reach out for it and vice versa with her dummy.

She's just started to try and say Monkey as she has a stuffed one. She says 'mila mila meeee' haha. I know what she means

I can't believe the last time I updated this was back in Sept!

Leia has changed SO much. We had a fab Christmas and she was spoilt rotten

She's 21 months now, going on 10 haha. Her vocabulary is amazing and she says things very clearly. My bros wife is called Diane and we thought she'd struggle to say it, but nope, she says it perfectly.

She has a great personality and is constantly trying to make everyone laugh. She'll randomly pick her dummy up in her toes and say 'Mummy look' then starts laughing her head off haha. She'll put her hair clip through a hole in her dummy then put it her her mouth and laugh her head off lol! Quite the comedian.

We had a complete nightmare with her 1st childminder back in Nov. Well, she was actually a friend of mine and offered to look after Leia when I came back to work which was a complete lifesaver for me. She arranged everything ie how much we would pay her and all seemed ok. I started to dislike Leia being there though as her house wasn't the cleanest and sometimes when I picked her up, her and my friends son who is 2 days older would be in the cot whilst she was on the computer. That annoyed me so I started looking for a new childminder.
The one day when I picked Leia her, my 'friend' blew up on me! I was so shocked and she told me not to bring her back...... talk about being left up sh*t street. It must've been fate though because a woman I had called who was on the register and had told me she was retiring, she'd gone into where my Mum works and asked if I still needed someone. Of course I did and so when I called and explained the situation, she let her start that Monday
Leia absolutely loved her and came on leaps and bounds because they actually played with her, painting and reading books and listening to nursery rhymes etc. She also took her out a lot.

She is in nursery now as the new childminder retired last month. Luckily she loves it and has lots of friends already The nursery told me that she never cries, is never naughty and if she does whimper, they think something is wrong with her LOL.

When I get her home it's a different story. She is that tired from playing all day that she does nothing but whinge and is very testing for me. I have no patience whatsoever lol! What can I say, she's like her Mummy and loves her sleep.

At weekends we try and get her out as much as possible and we've just started to explore our glorious island a little more. This weekend we're climbing our tallest mountain. We'll be taking a carrier for DBFs back so when she gets too tired she can be carried.

She now knows her name and will point to everyone saying 'Mummy, Daddy, Nana, leia' so so cute. She also knows what all her body parts are too and has just recently figured out where her cheeks and shoulders are haha.

She can put her own socks on, which she's been doing for at least 2 months now and helps me dress her in the morning and for bed. She still sleeps perfectly, going down awake and falling asleep on her own.

One thing she is doing atm is saying 'no!' and that is winding me up a little. Do I ignore her or let her know it's not nice? I'm sure I will figure it out. Also, she is the biggest attention seeker and cannot really play on her own. My Mum is right in saying that either me or DBF entertain her whilst the other does the tea, or cleans up, so I'm trying to stop this too. She will beg to be picked up and I have to tell her not now. She eventually will walk off to do something else.

I can't quite believe that she will be 2 in 3 months time!!!! It absolutely flies and would never have believed how fast until having her.

I am so desperate for a another, I'd love for her to have a sibling close in age but I will just have to wait and see what happens in the near future.

    xx
