    Default Quinlan Maxwell's Journal

Continued from the old boards. Old entires are tucked away safely for Quinn to read when he is older. Shall we continue?

I'll start with a basic update that I posted on Quinn's birth board.

I wanted to share a little update on my baby doll Quinn. He turned 9 months on the 4th. He's my little heartbreaker and troublemaker all at the same time. He's a feisty one and I think I am going to have my hands full with him.

I have no clue how much he weighs or how tall he is because they don't do 9 month check ups here. I'm not concerned though. He's energetic and looks healthy. He eats ANYTHING I give him. He even eats dirt. LOL! Ask my 2 year old...he feeds it to his brother. He's been pulling up and crusing since the end of January, when he was 6.5 months old and is still doing that, just faster and with more certainty. He is showing NO signs of letting go and walking and for that I am VERY thankful. I'm not ready for that. He gets into enough trouble while crawling. He has 4 teeth now and does NOT handle teeting well at all, so I am dreading more teeth. Quinn is getting better about sitting for stories and will even sit and flip through books on his own now...which makes me smile. We are all about books and reading here! He plays pretty well by himself these days and I love watching Quinn and Huey play together. Huey calls Quinn "little fella" or "little buddy" and they really are buddies. They share a room and are doing SO well. Unless he's teething Quinn sleeps a good 12 hours every night most nights. He's still nursing several times a day, but can use a sippy cup too. He's on a mix of solid table foods and baby food and sneaks snacks from his brother all the time.

Okay, enough talk. Here's my little "Qinkeroo":

Quinn is 1! So much for keeping up with a journal.

I did this for Huey and wanted to do the same for Quinn. A list of things about Quinn at 1 year old.

Health/Physical: Very healthy. Looks like a peanut, but eats like a champ. Very active - nonstop action! No health problems and got through his first year with only 1 or 2 illnesses. Is just about walking full time. Took first steps 1 month before first birthday. Has silky, fine blonde hair and the bluest eyes. Cute as a button!

Eating: Drinks from a sippy cup. Loves table food. Eats just about anythng you give him. Loves milk and breastmilk. Still nursing about 3 times a day, mostly in the AM. Sniffs out food that others are eating and BEGS for some. Favorites: peas, pasta with sauce, peanutbutter on oat bran bread, yogurt, cheese. Dislikes: green beans. Insists on putting food in his hair at every meal. Loves to drop his food over the side of the high chair to signal that he is done eating. Sometimes eats SO much that he makes himself sick.

Play: Play = climbing and getting into trouble for Quinn. Quinn's favorite game is to climb up on the little chairs, get on the little table, mount the back of the couch and dive onto the cushions and then flip onto the floor. Laughs the whole time and has a cheering squad (Huey) every time. Is obsessed with electronic equipment (computer, printer, stereo, VCR, TV). Loves to play trains with Huey and recognizes Thomas' face. Just seeing Thomas' face makes him smile and giggle. He knows how to put the trains on the track and push them and loves to push them through the tunnels and over bridges. He even makes a "choo-choo" noise while he pushes them. Love cars and planes too and makes noises effects when playing with those too. Loves to play and splash in the pool or the bathtub. Isn't afraid of water at all. Loves rubber ducks and says, "gack gack" if you ask him what sound a duck makes.

Intellectual: Verbalizes quite well. Says: mama, dada, der (bird), dah (dog) and other nonsense words as well as the noises he uses in play. Plays So Big, Patty Cake, claps hands, waves bye bye, and points to his nose. Starting to play with the shape sorter.

Emotional: Often Mr. Serious, but when he does lighten up he's a goof. Can be both very independent and not want to be bothered at all and yet also very cuddly and demanding of attention. Has a very heated temper with a killer scream to go with it.

Other: Still napping at least once a day for 2-3 hours. Usually wakes up screaming and is now (at 1) throwing the contents of his crib out in a fit of rage when he wakes up. Sleeps through the night 75% of the time, wakes up only 1X to nurse the other 15% of the time. Sleeps from 8-8 usually or until Huey wakes him up.
