Honest opinion on this girl name

Whats your opinion on Juliana (ah-na) NOT (anna). Do you think that it's over popular?

I don't think it is over popular. I like it.

I like it. It is not uncommon, but not common either. I don't think it is overused. Smile

I like it. I pronounce it the same as you. I don't think it is too common at all.

Julianna is my name, but no one uses my full name even when I say Hi my name is "Julianna" they change it to Julie or Jules within a short time. I am talking about even at work. This is part of why I gave my kids names that did not have nick names, I don't understand giving kids long names they won't go by. I LOVE Julianna but no one calls me it so that makes me sad.

I don't think it's overly popular at all. You may, however, have to correct people at times on the desired pronuciation. I know I, and many others, would initially pronounce it as Juli-anna if we weren't aware (I have a cousin who spells it your way but pronounces it the other... in fact, I've never heard it pronounced your way regardless of the spelling :)). But yeah... I agree with the others... it's not an uncommon name, but it's not a very common one either. Very pretty.

Honestly, I don't think it matters what you name a child or how short/long their name is... people who want to use nicknames will come up with one anyway. My name and my brother's are not really shorten-able or nickname-able and yet friends/etc. always managed to do so LOL My sister, on the other hand, has a longer, hyphenated name and my mother always insisted on everybody using all of it. She'd even correct people if they shortened it. Of course, now... amongst her coworkers/friends she goes by the short version anyway Smile

Marla, very true. My almost 9yr old, Brilee, gets super annoyed with ppl giving her nicknames of Bri, or Brile, or Briles, drives her nuts, but doesn't stop ppl from doing it either, even when she tells them so.

My son Peter deals with this as well he keeps telling people "I am not Pete or Petie" But he won't answer them so after a bit they catch on and call him only by Peter.
