Twins Expected. One name down, one to go.

I'm expecting two little ones later this month. One boy, one girl.

We have the girl's name picked out and both of us love it. It's the boy's name that giving us difficulty. First, because my husband practically refuses to use any name that he knows of someone with that name. Second, since the girl's name it a little out there (or at least very uncommon) I want the boy's name to be more grounded (we don't want something common now but maybe it was popular at one point). Also our last name could be a first name, so the whole last name as a first name trend is to be avoided.

So the girl's name is Neve.
And the front runner for the boy's name is Owen.

Other names I like but have been ruled out; Ethan, Ian, Jack, Dale.

Any ideas?

What about Nolan? it is similar in sound to Owen. unless you dont want them to have the same first initial.

Hmmm. Well my son is Ethan, and I love Jack and Owen so we have some similar tastes...Here are some names that were in the running at one time:

Ryan
Jasper
Nathan
Jacob

Good Luck! I think Boys names are much harder than girls!

What is odd is we talked about baby names last year (MC) and we had a much easier time with boys names than girls. Back then I had issue with Neve because growing up I had a beloved dog named Neive. In fact, I KNOW my mom with call my daughter Neive (both in accident and to be "funny"). I come to accept this but yet I refuse to tell my mom the girl's name we picked out, she can do it after she is born but not before (hopefully this will weed out a lot of the times she does it to be funny).

My husband's first choice for a boys name is Zeke, which is my father's name (it is the only case where he will allow our son to be named after someone). However I feel the combination of Neve and Zeke will make my mom's head explode.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I really like Quinn and Erik (I think some mentioned that on another thread).

Well, I like Quinn and Zeke, I like Owen too, but I think it is very popular now.

You have lovely taste, I like your names. I agree with you about Zeke, that's too much.

Here are some suggestions for pairing (I guess whose name comes first depends on who gets out first!) My favourite pairs have a *

Jacob and Neve
Matthias and Neve
James and Neve
Ioan and Neve* (similar to Owen but lesser-known - think Ioan Gruffuld, aka Mr Fantastic...)
Callum and Neve
Isaac and Neve*
Leo and Neve*
Leon and Neve
Rhys and Neve*
Toby and Neve
Kian and Neve* (keep the Irish them going)
Sebastian and Neve
Ewan and Neve (again, similar to Owen)
Miles and Neve

Hope that helps!

I don't know if you would like it or not, but our favorite boy name is "Levi." I think it would be cute with Neve. It's not super popular right now, but not out there either. Smile

Okay I think I have it narrowed down to;

Paul
Owen
Dean
Clint
Erik

Any thoughts?

I'd avoid Dean as with Neve that's a lot of 'eee' sound.

Clint sounds like a very different style of name from Neve.

I think Paul is LOVELY and I really like Erik as a more unusual choice. Owen is also great!

Paul and Neve. Erik and Neve. Owen and Neve.

Any of those work for me! Probably Owen is my fave.
