Learning a new carrier....

Well, I am not a wrapper. I tried to love the Moby. We eventually made a truce (it IS comfortable!) till Aiden hit about 15 pounds and then I moved on. When Aiden was 4 months old I attempted a DIY gauze wrap for wrapping. Again, I tried, but didn't get why people love wrapping so much. I still can't claim that I get why some people feel the need to have multiple wraps, but I am starting to get why the woven wrap love exists.

I finally bought my first woven wrap (a 4.1 Storch Anna) and got to try my first carries with it this weekend. There have been frustrating moments, but I am finally conquering some of my fears and frustrations!
Last night - first attempt at a FWCC (note that this is slightly different than instructions included with most stretchy wraps):

Today - apparently the wrap came with sleepy dust! Again a FWCC, but I spread the passes unlike the above photo.:

And then this afternoon, my first back carry, a BWCC!:

While definitely a high learning curve, the possibilities are practically endless with a wrap. I'm getting exciting about starting an All Things Wrapping thread soon!

So has anyone else learned a new carry or tried a new carrier recently? How did it go?

I haven't tried anything new yet, but I want to try a wrap and I'm also still thinking I want a buckle carrier like your Ergo, for Lyla. I think I could get DH more on board if I had one of those. I can't afford to spend any money like that now, so for a wrap I'd have to make one, which means I would first need to research fabrics.

I think you did a great job with the wrap. It looks great.

You like youa have thea wrap figured out! I want a wrap very badly! A girl in a moms group of mine is like a woven wrap queen and once baby #3 is here I plan to have her show me how to do it. She does back carries with it a lot and to me it looks way more comfortable then a back carry with a Ergo. I don't like how the strap on the Ergo (whenshe used forstupid back carries) cuts into my belly making a fat roll rang over! With the wrap there is much more fabric to help hide it! Lol

Check on the DIY thread on thebabywearer.com for good suggestions about fabric. I have no doubt you could find fabric and hem it yourself. I know I've read that osnaburg is supposed to be supportive. You'd just have to die it if you don't like the natural color.

That's great that you'll have somebody to teach you! I really wish I had a wrapper near me to help! lol.
And yes, I hate how webbing on SSCs displays tummy fat. Blum 3 One reason why I like my other SSC over the Ergo is because the padded waist is longer so less webbing to show off my fat. Wink Definitely less of a problem with wraps and mei tais!
