Wore DD today while making dinner (well breakfast actually, pancakes!).

Ugh, dreaded drop off....Today was the first day in months that drop off was smooth for Olivia. Course Ethan blew up and had a tantrum instead. *roll eyes*

Glad you're jumping into this thread Mara! It's part BWing "look what I did" and part life complaint session.

Erin, tell Teagan to stop being an teething overachiever. At least she's getting them over with? *shrug* I'm sure it's gotta be tough.

Leigh, how do people do the post office line without BWing?! lol. Right before Christmas I stood in line at a post office and boxed up and addressed a gift. People were impressed. Well, all but the lady in line behind me who told me DS was going to be a slow walker due to being worn (I did love the look she had when I told her he could run already ).

Not much BWing today. This kid is soooooooo messed up with sleep after two days of driving to get here. I wore him just to have hands free for carrying stuff in from the car. So tired of living out of suitcases and a uhaul. I'm sure BWing will pick up big time once we have a place to live and get our stuff from storage (which we haven't seen in 3 months and makes me very nervous).

Oh! And Erin, when AF is being nasty (which she is improving at least each month now that I'm on mama cloth full time) I either 1) don't BWer at all and say f to being productive or 2) wear him in a way that there is nothing on my waist (ring sling in a hip carry is better for me as is back carries with a wrap with no tying at the waist). Since you mainly use the Ergo, I'd only BW if you really need to (like Leigh's standing at the post office).

tiggersmommy - (pardon, will learn names as i go i promise!) i loved the front carry for af, she worked just like a big hot water bottle! never tried an ergo but from the looks i can see the discomfort.

leigh - LOVE bw'ing for line ups, long trips, doc appts! the slightest little wiggles keep them entertained for hours!

mel - wtg on housework wearing! i may start this again to get bigger stuff done, used to do all the biggies, vacuum, laundry, cooking, wearing! glad your drop off went smooth today for at least one!

jackie - lol the 'lady comment' i got that all the time.. jade was running by 8 months so we know it's bs! hope you get settled into a place soon and things can get back to normal. it's never easy.

so has anyone else ever noticed a difference in attitude and rebellion from wearing times to break from wearing times? haven't worn her in months and she started being a little monster, the last two days have been wonderful!

oh and did another walk to get daddy, it's snowing so i use a giant umbrella i love the looks i get before and after ppl realize there's a kid on my back! mostly they can't see her until they're really close!!! she scared daddy yest, went to get him and as he asking where she was she yelled boo!!

Yeah...I think of it like a chat thread with a loose topic these days

Ugh. Lots of chasing, or trying to appease a toddler who wants nothing more in the world than to get out of the stroller. NEVER AGAIN.

Doesn't happen often...but here we are with two Maras on the board! Hi, Mara! I remember you, cause I'm scary like that, for having gotten pregnant right around the same time as me. I was due in April with DD, but, late April, and decided to join the May 2010 board instead. Anyway... I guess it's not that weird to remember someone who has your same name. I have really only ever run into 1 other Mara (spelled that way, not the Jewish Marah) who wasn't Latvian (cause there are TONS of us amongst Latvians). Anyway...welcome to the board!

I haven't worn DD in a few days. Haven't had any reason to. It's gotten really hot here already too (like high 90s every day), so mostly we've been staying inside with the air con on. Turns out I do not like the heat so much when I'm pregnant!

lol that's what i get for having a pregnant mother, watching national geographic when she's almost 4 weeks late!!! it's neat though i've met exchange students from africa who played on the Mara when they were little! will have to look up the latvia side of it. yep i remember you too! see you sometimes when i stalk kayla! funny thing heat and preg, never known them to get along!
i loved to wear jade for bf'ing when it was hot like that, she sweats at the best of times and i couldn't hold her otherwise!

I always felt bad for my mom carrying me two weeks late in the Florida Everglades in July...but then I got to carry mine eight days over in southern Arizona in July, so I guess karma got me, hahaha. Man, I spent the first three months of DD's life wearing her but not much else--a nursing bra and boxers when we were at home--we don't even have air conditioning, so it was VERY sweaty.

That's going to be interesting, actually--I was not BW last summer, since we were in that window between the ring sling and falling in love with the Ergo/Toddler Wearing--so we'll see how it goes when it's 105 outside. Already in the 80s, as of yesterday (but here, that's PERFECT.)

DS was born at the end of June and at the time I only had a Moby. Man was that thing SWELTERING!!!! I can't believe some of you are in the 80's and 90's. It's 30 degrees Fahrenheit today!

Wore DD this morning at Target. She had a good time in the toy section but had to have DS take a couple things away from her! LOL! Anyone know how I would do that myself without taking her down when she's in a back carry?

Oh and regarding the person who said the child will never walk -= do they think you NEVER put the child down ever? Why are people so silly!

Ha--it's a fun moment! I usually reach back over my head without looking and do it by feel. Remember when I said I got some nice angry scratches on my neck when I was wearing her at Ross? Yeah.

Leigh, I was in Del Rio last summer (so not as hot but pretty close to y'alls temps thanks to the TX heat wave and drought we had). If we were outside (like walks, going to the park, events), I chose the stroller over BWing if the stroller was reasonable to use. If we were headed into a store, I used a carrier. I did own a solarveil Bamberoo that didn't keep me cool but it kept DS sooooo much cooler than the Ergo did. It's found a new home now, but I doubt if I'll be begging to baby wear a running toddler this summer when outside. We did most of our outside BWing with that B'roo in the evening hours (still hot, but not as bad lol). Most BWing this summer will be while taking care of errands and in the house. Though supposedly some woven wraps with certain carries are said to be super great for outside. Guess I'll find out!

Mel, I've become really conscious about DS's reach while in a back carry. He once picked up a half full gallon of milk out of a fridge door while back there! lol. I just tell DS to give it to mommy and reach a hand back there. There was one time where I just let him keep it while I finished shopping and eventually he dropped it for me to pick up. DS is worse about grabbing things when in the ring sling though.

Wore DS on my back in the green elephant Bamberoo for a quick errand. Ended up being quick b/c I dropped my military ID on the ground and didn't know it. And well, there's an exercise going on base where you have to show your ID before entering every building. And yeah, no ID = short shopping trip at the BX and commissary.
