Yay for productive BWing in public!
No BWing for us. However there is a babywearing meeting (my first one since moving here!) on Wednesday! Can't wait.
So, in the end I only used the sling on the whole trip! It was GREAT on the plane for when Beni slept, since she would only sleep in my arms- she would fall asleep nursing every time, and then just sleep in my arms...but then I was able to nap too, since I didn't have to worry about dropping her. And I don't *think* I flashed too much boob- but it is possible I was hanging out now and then when we both fell asleep while she was still nursing. Ah well.
I got a lovely comment on the way out of the Chicago airport though... I exited customs, and it looked like I had come into a transfer area, instead of an actual exit, so I just stopped and asked these two men that were standing there waiting for someone which way to go. Beni was asleep in the RS in a newborn-like-ish stomach to stomach carry, with her head on my shoulder and her legs hanging out the bottom. I was pushing a luggage cart loaded with three full size suitcases and my two carry-ons. So I asked the guys which was is the actual out, and they told me, and I said thanks. Then the one guy says to me, "Is that a Moby or a K'tan (I think? I forget, but he did say two carrier names I recognized)?" So I smiled and said, "It's a Maya ring sling actually!" And then he was all, "My wife is really into attachment parenting, so we have a few carriers around the house." I responded, "That's great! I don't know how I'd be doing this while pushing a stroller! Only way to go as far as I'm concerned!" I mean, really... how do you travel solo with a kid and stroller? I wouldn't even have been able to carry my carry-on luggage (a backpack and a small suitcase on wheels) if I had been pushing a stroller!
Haven't done any wearing since the trip, although I think it would have been good in Target yesterday! It was kind of a long trip, and Beni kept wanting in and out of the cart- I think she was jet-lagged and out of sorts- not entirely tired, but just, not in a good way. Maybe I'll throw her up in the mei tai today for our grocery shopping trip. We'll see!

That's great! So glad for you that your trip is OVER and went so well! Yay for babywearing...I know what you mean, I can't imagine how anyone travels with a stroller, especially alone. What a PITA! My big trip coming up in June was a big part of the draw for us to start getting used to the Ergo again. Your success gives me hope!
Glad to hear you survived your trip! What a big hurdle down. Other than walking from long term parking to the airport and back, I totally found the ring sling to be best too with plane traveling. And who cares if anyone saw your boob. I'm sure they were just happy that she was quiet and asleep. lol
No BWing yet today. DH actually hit up the commissary for me. Oh well. Soon enough my shorty wrap will arrive and I'll want to BW even if it's just to break in the wrap.
mara glad the trip was a success and that's it's done now! ITA we did the moby for both of jades plane trips and it was funny and sad watching the moms struggle with strollers and luggage (of which i helped out twice thanks to wearing jade!) lol flash away, it's only nudity below the belt! okay at least that's what the law says and it can't be worse than some of the supposed tops some women wear! after all that a little snuggle for shopping may be what she needs to get back into routine. good luck!
leigh good luck with your trip and good thinking on getting used to the ergo now, you'll be a pro!
jackie can't wait to see the new pics! yay dh for thoughtfulness! sometimes they surprise us!
no bw'ing today yet but planning the 3 mile round trip (hills and all) to go get dh from work and share some chocolates with the office ladies (lol warehouse guys don't want to hear about your baby, so dh spends time bragging to the office ladies and they've all been waiting for warm weather to see her again!) that i made for practice for jades cake (chocolate smiley face chocolates on sticks wrapped in foil!) have a great one all!
I can't believe Jade is getting so close to being 2! I still remember you announcing your pregnancy.
My Performance Ergo came today! I LOVE IT! The straps are kind of curved around the shoulder and fit much better than the old one. I was actually able to wear Beni on my back quite comfortably in it while shopping today. At first she said she wanted to sit in the cart, but she started getting crazy in there, so I threw her up on my back, and she was much better after that. I was going to take a picture, but, didn't get around to it.

Oh no, you're only stoking the fires of my totally unnecessary desire to get my hands on a green performance Ergo!!!
Glad it worked for you so well, though--comfy even while TW and pregnant, that's some major kudos!
No BW for us today, although I thought about it several times while DD was fighting her nap (!?!? She never does that! An hour!) I seriously almost threw her in the Ergo and went for a walk, but I wasn't sure I could get her off again by myself without waking her up, and before I had to go down that road, she finally fell asleep. Then she woke up in a BEAST of a mood, but all she wanted to do was look at the ducks in the park, so...okay!
I'm so glad your trip went smoothly, Mara! When we flew with T over the holidays it was one of the WORST experiences of my life but it definitely wasn't T's fault. She was a dream. It was the delays, depressurization, and turbulence that were a nightmare ... didn't want to mention all that when we were talking BEFORE your trip
No BWing for us recently. Really no need to. Teagan really likes to get down and walk by herself these days and my back has been killing me. DH was freaking me out talking about a herniated disc. I doubt that's it but it still scares me. He herniated a disc about 4 years ago and is still at only about 70% capacity.
What's with kids refusing sleep today?!?! It just took me over an hour to get T to bed. I half considered taking her for a nightly jaunt in the Ergo around the neighborhood in my PJs. If my creepy drug-dealerish neighbors weren't out in their driveway I might have!
