Humidity definitely makes a HUGE difference. It's so humid here right now it's disgusting. Yesterday it was 99 with 64% humidity, and our house only has an evaporative cooler which doesn't do much of anything except add MORE humidity to the air once the percentage is over about 25%. I walked in my house at 3:30 and immediately wanted to die. No way I'm strapping on a hot toddler to boot!
It's been super humid here (right now it's at 94%), but at least the temps are cooler since we've had mostly clouds and rain this week.
Wore Aiden while doing errands this morning. Kid tried his hardest to throw a fit and get himself out of my wrap at Michael's but he totally failed. It always amazes me how well secured DS is with just a simple rucksack back carry.
So I wore Aiden yesterday in my Beansling MT while grocery shopping. It's very comfortable for me right now when wearing for what may end up being a long time (sometimes the check out line can be a 20 minute wait or longer because active duty in uniform gets to cut in front), but yesterday the realization of actual grocery shopping with the deep commissary carts and my belly hit me as not the brightest idea. So I have this 25-26 lb kid on my back. I have a belly that's much larger than it was at 23 weeks with DS. The carts are deep. I CANNOT GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE CART BASKET! Yeah, seriously. I felt like I was doing yoga poses trying to get my items out of the cart and on the belt. And then after getting the groceries out of the car and into the house (I totally pay the bagger to take my groceries out to the car ha ha), I had cramping and a headache.
I think I'm done grocery shopping without my husband. Guess we're joining the huge Saturday morning crowd for shopping in the future.
Nothin' like getting 'em started early on proper positioning!
...and seriously, nobody helped you get your items out of the cart? I remember people jumping in to help me a couple of times when I was hugely preggo, and I didn't even have a kid on my back! For shame, fellow commissary shoppers!
Wore Aiden in WRAPS today! I took my time (a good 5 minutes) and got a nice, tight double hammock in Anna (the striped wrap lol) in a parking lot and wore him for 90 minutes! Still felt good afterwards. At the next place I did a quick ruck in my didy waves (blue wrap). I really need to give Anna more love to finish breaking her in because DH said he'd use it with the new squish in a front carry because he thinks ring slings are girly and refuses to use one (right now he'll only use the Ergo)
Look how cute he looked back there!
The funny part is that I hear of guys using ring slings all the time because they're easy and come in boy colors and patterns. And yet my husband is willing to do front carries in a wrap that has pink and purple stripes. Ha ha.
Got a new wrap in today! I bought it for Baby Girl, but one look at it and Aiden asked for "up up." Less than 10 minutes after going up, he fell fast asleep! Guess it's getting toddler tested on day 1.
I love those pictures. He always looks so angelic tucked away and sleeping back there!
I actually wore Addy a bunch on Monday. We went to the mall, which is sooooo not my scene, but I really needed some new clothes and had already exhausted the thrift store options, so I figured I'd see if there were any end of season sales or something. She was not super happy to be stuck on my back while I shopped, but we managed to get through the experience with some successful purchases and only moderate toddler drama. I get just as much drama when she's in a cart these days, so I considered it a great success.
What was funny to me, though, was how many comments I got! Normally, when I'm out and about in the parts of town I usually frequent (parks, university area, downtown), nobody looks at a baby- or toddler-wearer twice. But at the mall, jeez! You'd think I'd reinvented the wheel.
