I've done a lot of babywearing recently just haven't updated on here. Just been wearing him when out of the house at stores. I wore him yesterday in my Bamberoo SSC when I had to run into gas stations or for going to get food so that I had more free hands to help my SIL with her two wild boys. Aiden has decided he doesn't like the deep seat in a ring sling (needs the deep seat so his leg goes over my bump lol), so I use the SSC for short trips. It's uncomfortable for longer amounts of time (too much weight on my loose hips), but works fine for short spurts right now.
Funny enough my SIL loves watching me wrap Aiden on my back. We enjoyed a nice relaxing hour out shopping thanks to my son being on my back. He feel asleep within minutes (and sadly that's been his only nap of the day).
I have not worn much lately at all, because it's summer and I live on the surface of the sun, and also because I just keep forgetting to bring it with me. But I was super happy to have it at the mall--pretty sure I could not have made it through that trip otherwise, since I didn't have a stroller with me and there aren't carts. And letting her walk is a disaster.
Love the colors of that sling Jackie. And you look great.
I wore Beni in the Ergo the other day. It was close to nap time, and she was asleep within seconds of being on my back. Made shopping easier, since I can now sling Zintis around over my arm- I mean, not in a sling, but just like hold him facing out with one arm, you know? So yeah, Beni on my back, Zintis in my arms... plus carrying my bag and a shopping back. I got a LOT of looks and stares and smiles from people on the street.
I have not been wearing all too often lately though either, because it's just hot. Phew. I am hot all the time. I have my linen ring sling with me always, but, I never use it, because I just can't fathom putting on another layer with baby as well. My shoulders and arms are paying the price for just holding my giant baby all the time (he's like 14lbs now), but, at least it's not as hot.
We're doing a shopping trip to Thailand this weekend, so there will probably be some baby-wearing going on.
Wore Beni on my back again while shopping today. She fell asleep in the car on the way to the store, woke up for a split second when I put her in the Ergo, and slept through the whole shopping trip too. She woke up after I loaded all the groceries in the car, as I was about to unbuckle the Ergo. It was pretty funny- she was totally like, "What? What is going on?"
Nice! I know, having the Ergo just hanging off my waist every time we went for a walk or hike during our camping trip this weekend was totally awesome. No trouble at all when she wanted to walk by herself, and priceless when she got tired and needed a ride! Going to be a loooong time before I don't at least have it at hand.
I finally get why ring slings and shorty wraps are needed with toddlers. The shorty folded up fit in my purse (and we're not talking a huge purse, just one that I can wear cross body so I don't accidentally sit it down somewhere and forget it). Bet the ring sling would fit even better. So really need to find a cross body diaper bag that will hold baby girl's stuff, aiden stuff, and a wrap.
I managed 2 sleeping toddler transfers from the carseat up onto my back in the Ergo on both Sunday and Monday this long weekend. It was great to be able to get some errands done during nap time. I got some sweet smiles while shopping with T sleeping on my back in Whole Foods. Then I got some cross-eyed looks at the "regular" grocery store (Whole Foods was frustratingly out of frozen cranberries). I had a cashier apologize for taking so long because "Poor mama shouldn't be made to wait with a burden like that". Yeah, that's what carrying your kid is ... a burden. Do people think we BW because we can't afford strollers?
