Cool factor: Hahaha no kidding! (to both of you!) That's one reason I liked my ring sling...the Ergo isn't bad though, it's true.
"Ah-Da": AAAAHHH!!! CUTE! Those pics keep being up on the screen as I check FB messages and then walk away, so there's been a lot of very excited "TEA TEA!!" in our house the past couple of days too...but that's old news.
Ju Ju Be Quick: I will have to look into that! I did think of the "leaving a larger bag in the car" strategy, but I do need to be able to carry my wallet, keys, phone, camera, one diaper/small thing of wipes, and SNACKS. The pocket on the Ergo is so small that I put the snacks in there and was done, and had no diaper or wipes at all. I had to clip my camera onto the chest strap, and shove my debit card and just my car key in my pockets...it was really annoying. I hate having things in my pants pockets at all, especially with the Ergo shoving on them too, but in a back carry that pouch is pretty awkward to reach.
Only wearing I did today was a double hammock in my woven and just for 10 minutes as I got some diapers together. Aiden is being an awful teether and wanted to be laying down ON me for most of the day. At least I got some pleasure reading time!
I wore Addy to return something at a store. She was none too pleased to be there (we were on our way to the park and she did not appreciate the detour), so I was glad I could bounce and soothe her while we waited in line.
BWing is great for when you're stuck waiting in line!
I wore Aiden today while getting groceries at Aldi and again while picking up lunch for DH and I at a burrito place. DH got home from work really early (is it bad that I'm grateful for broken planes? ), so he took Aiden to the park.....and voluntarily put DS on his back in the Ergo for the walk! Usually he pulls out the stroller. Go DH!
I had a total babywearing FAIL today...partially my fault, but I decided to try just throwing her in the Maya in a hip carry because I was just stopping by somewhere to pick up a check. Well, I got up to the door and it had a note that said "back in 15 minutes" Okay...15 minutes from when?? I waited for about ten and then decided to go check out another store and come back. Long story short, it turned into WAY too long of an expedition for the ring sling at this age, and my back was/is killing me, even after I gave up and let her run around Goodwill hitting things with a broken plastic sword she picked up.
Oh my! It happens though. We took Aiden to a new park in the city a few weeks ago and all I brought was a ring sling (pretty sure pictures are on this thread somewhere). Which worked out great with the up-downs till we decided to go find the "falls." We were told it wasn't far, but trust me it was well over a mile away. I get there fine, but coming back I just could not wear Aiden anymore. Long walks like that I need a two shoulder carrier!
I keep forgetting to throw one of my mei tais in the car trunk. I totally need to do this so that I'm never in a position again where I'm stuck with just a ring sling or even worse no carrier at all!
Yeah, my Ergo just lives in the car now. I actually had it yesterday, I just didn't realize what my trip was going to turn into until it was too late and not worth going back to the car for. I should throw a mei tai in the truck juuuuuust in case...
